Glad to say that i'm driving this new Alhambra, Style 7 seater, with 2.0 TDI 150HP 4WD, 17" tyres version. As Thomas statet here and in the Sharan reviews, on dry there is no point for the 4WD and this engine is not very good fully loaded after 130km/h as the car is ~1900kg without passengers. But because of that weight the 4WD will be very needed for us as we have a lot of kilometers in winter conditions with steep hills and snowy passes. Also we have already tested the 7 seater with 4 children and 3 adults as well as luggage and a stroller - no problem. And good acceleration on country roads (speed limit 90km/h). What I'll recommend, as I do not have it is the blindspot monitor, as the side mirrors are a bit on the small side for that car. Either i'm not used to them or they are too pointy on the end. Good reference on the slim center mirror, it is SLIM. We have regular sliding doors, they are the best. Loading is effortless, not just people, long items just slide in there. The Alcantara seats are perfect, no slipping and they offer that little bit more support. The only major thing missing here (missing from the Sharan) is the city break system and the adaptive cruise, as they do not offer them as options on the Seat. But in Bulgaria VW does not offer Sharan, so no alternative for us. Many thanks to Autogefuhl, as You were the one thing that tipped the scales to this vehicle and it was all worth it. Pretty much everything you said about this car (also including in the Sharan review as they are practically identical) is TRUE and spot on. Keep up the good work.
william clarke Hello, yes I can. but I needed to do some additional coding through obdeleven. You can use vagcom or a dealer. Check the threads in the uk seat forum or the obdeleven forum for the alhambra
hi thanks for the reply nice to no i will be able to do this when i get my new alhambra se lux 184 with dsg getting car in april.if there is any other tips or coding you can give i would be great full thanks again bill
Very comprehensive review. Really appreciate the 'live' testing of equipment. One of the few films where the mundane aspects of the vehicle are shown storage, seating config. gadgets etc. especially wanted to see the electric tailgate and doors in action which was explained at length. I appreciate the effort gone into this review.
I really enjoy your review of the Alhambra. I think it’s design is timeless. I’ve place my order - Long wait for delivery.....was informed of expected delivery in September.
Great review. I am planning to buy one of these for my tour business. It looks like it will fit 7 adults well, plus it's £25k cheaper than a VW Caravelle!!
I like the detailed list of the video, much better explanation, i like opening and closing the back seats, most dont show the back seats,, great review,, i liked the car more and more,, keep it up
Hi, Autogefühl team. I don't know if you guys can make this happen, but im gonna ask any way. When you guys are showing the interior, could you put the car in a dark garage or film a small portion of the interior shot at night - to show how the interior dials and knobs light up, or don't light up, at night. Please also show reading lights and any lights along the door seals. Also please show how the exterior lights "behave". This would be greatly appreciated. I love your in-depth reviews, otherwise. Keep up the great work!!!
Love your review. We are needing to rent a car in Italy this summer for 6 people (one child at age 13 and one at 16...so really adults too). I had never seen the Seat Alhambra and your review was very helpful. Three questions: First, can you fold down the middle row seat and let people in the back put their legs/feet up on it? Second, what other vehicles would fit 6 people and luggage? And third, we live in Miami, Florida and have multiple friends from everywhere in the world...we would welcome you to come and stay with our family a few days if you were every interested. Last, and certainly not least, the person yapping about your accent is ridiculous. Some people don't really know what things are important in this world. Have a great day.
thanks and enjoy your trip :) Yeah u can fold the 2nd row down. The sibling of the Seat Alhambra is the VW Sharan. What other cars would work, probably... Skoda Kodiaq: ruclips.net/video/4ThrWBWDevo/видео.html Tesla Model X (But there is no chance to rent one I guess) ruclips.net/video/y2wNGFKa4M0/видео.html Hyundai (Grand) Santa Fe: ruclips.net/video/TGmaTLk_3AA/видео.html Probably the best is to check directly with the car rental company which cars they do have and I can give you a hint then. Ohh I really love Miami =) Thanks for your support Lois =)
hmm.. Lancia does only sell cars on the Italian market anymore, maybe maybe it is possible to get one, Lancia Voyager = Chrysler Voyager btw. It's a crappy car imho, but it has lots of room =)
Fiat Freemont exists in Europe. Havent driven the Scudo. Well you can very well go into that light commercial vehicle segment, like Volkswagen Transporter ruclips.net/video/ijt8Vev0UaY/видео.html Or Fiat Talento ruclips.net/video/SFgYnKguQ9k/видео.html
Greetings from Ireland Thomas, glad to see a packet of fisherman's friends in the car. If you have a sore throat, these can ease the pain and stop throat pain leading to a heavy cold. Great review too by the way 😊
The Alhambra is a really great car from Seat. And the technologies are very good. This is an excellent car for families and people who need a lot of place!!! It is the sportive alernative to the Sharan !! Very Great car :)
Hello, can you put some data when testing the sound insulation. like a sound meter for 50, 90, 130km/h. You said on the video that you have tested the car on the motorway at around 150 and 160 km/h and it was good but can you do this next time with a sound meter so that the viewers can actually see what you mean. This will help a lot of people who have small kids or drive a lot of km. As this is a good comfort measure. Otherwise a good review again from the team. Keep up the good work.
+Autogefühl That is true. You could make that in your comparison videos, like the one featuring the Passat, Superb and Mazda 6. When you have a few cars on the same road and weather conditions.
+Autogefühl You can use a phone app. They are not as correct as the professional ones, but you can check it by a professional and know the difference. Also you will always have it in you and it is just for a reference to which is lower than the other as this is the main purpose.
Hey Thomas, I'm really enjoying your in depth reviews! They are the closest you can get to a car without having to go to the dealership. Would it be possible to make a new review of the Tesla Model S ? I know you guys already made a a short video but I would love one of your half hour specials. Keep up the good work and drive safe :)
The SEAT Alhambra facelift, today on Autogefühl, your number 1 resource for in-depth car reviews and your number 1 community to discuss cars. With me, with Thomas and we're going to talk about the exterior, the changes of this facelift, the interior of course, here especially with the flexibility and what can you change with the seats and with the trunk and of course, the driving experience. And we're also going to compare this car to the Volkswagen Sharan because we have tested the Sharan before, the facelifted version, so this video will be linked in the video description and we also recently had a big van comparison video. This one will also be linked in the video description.
For the 2017 model year, you CAN get the 184HP diesel with AWD and DSG. Also, there is the adaptive suspension available with 18" wheels, previously unavailable. Still no ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, argh, I suppose they need to show SEAT who's the boss in VW group:)
one more comment: If you want to compare it with the Touran, the currently offered price (not just catalogue but including available discounts, of which there won't be many for the Touran as it is still selling very well) of similarly specified models will not be very different. When I compared top of the range models with similar gadgets, the difference (in Poland) was just below 3000EUR. So the choice is not really about money but whether you want a VW, with slightly better looks, easier to park, with newer platform, newer gadgets (full LED lights for instance), more power from the same engine (top of the range), nice Carribean blue colour (the blue on Alhambra is very sombre) but smaller car in both 2nd and 3rd row/boot.
+Autogefühl ah sorry havent seen your 1st comment first. Indeed it depends on each market, in Germany the Touran is way cheaper than Alhambra and Sharan
+Autogefühl In Poland as well, when you look at the base prices. But in order to compete with a well spec'd Alhambra I had to add so many options to the Touran that the prices became dangerously close, especially that discounts on Touran are much lower than what you can negotiate on Alhambra
Thnx Thomas, good review! I am in the market so I compared VW and Seat. In Poland, well spec'd model is about €5K/£4K cheaper than the equivalent Sharan and from what I saw you are mostly paying for the badge (srsly, what is the panache of owning a vw?) and a few things that are different between the two: the steering wheel - vw has buttons controlling the cruise control while alhambra has the slightly less ergonomic stalk for that, I flashed the lights a few times meaning to restore the cruise - the LED daytime running lights on VW and bulbs on the Seat, and that is about it. On the options list, vw has ADAPTIVE cruise control, vs Seat's older tech, and you can add premium audio on the Sharan, not available in Seat at all. I wasn't able to test this Dynaudio option but I doubt it is worth going to Wolfsburg ( metaphorically only, both cars are made in Portugal :) just for that. Unless you really have to have beige alcantara...
straight and honest review I just like this channel. .beside. .unlike British, American reviews the steering is on the correct side and I don't hurt my ears with miles and pounds lol
+blocksterz my biggest beef with UK reviews is not miles, mpg or poundfeetoftorque:) or even the fact that horsepower is slightly differently calculated... it's the fact that reviews are so positive, they almost forget everything has downsides and people watching reviews often want these the most. Our Thomas here is much better in this respect
I think I would take this one because of the simple fact that you can't get the panoramic roof with the 7 seat configuration on the VW Sharan (at least on the configuration, it doesn't work)
Thank you Tomas for a great review! What are your thoughts on the fact that the Alhambra/Sharan use Adblue? Do many diesel engine cars have It these days? Is that a factor that needs to be considered when you buy this car campared to other brands? Keep up the good work!
+Autogefühl So Thomas, what about Adblue? I tested Alhambra for almost 1000km and the Adblue range droped by 2000km in that weekend. Half of it was motorway, 40% normal highways, 10% city. That got me worried a bit, but since Adblue is not terribly expensive, I suppose, you could live with it.
+mtumasz i bought the 2016 Alhambra TDI 184 DSG and after less than 6 months my Adblue range was down to less than 1000 km. I mostly drive about 20-25 km a day. in Sweden where i live, the winters are long wich affects the consumption. it was easy to refill adblue though, i just went to my dealer and they filled it up for me. took less than 10 minutes. you can fill it yourself, but on the Alhambra/Sharan the tabk lid is a bit badly placed (on the left side side in the boot) and not like for instance Passat where it is next to the tank lid for the petrol/diesel. Despite this, i am VERY satisfied with the car. It has alot of space, well equipped and has a good quality feel. I also compared the Sharan and the Alhambra and I also felt that the 8000€ extra for the Sharan (with equal engine, gear box and equipment) was not worth it since both cars are more or less identical.
hi Ante, I picked up my Alhambra (same set-up as yours) 2 weeks ago and agree it's a great car. Love some gadgets: lane assist and smart headlights. Miss the active cruise control (that was cruel VAG!) Already did 4000km in it (Poland to Italy and back) and the Adblue range dropped by 5000 (long motorway drives in hot weather so conditions opposite to yours) but it is still a new car so I reserve judgement on this for later. As regards the Sharan comparison you are right - the price differential is just not worth the switch esp. if you factor in that in Poland SEAT has 4yr warranty vs. VW's 2yr. I'm only wondering if they put different sound insulation e.g. in the doors in the VW - it's not the easiest thing to test.
Hi Thomas. I have shortlisted the Renault Espace dci 160 and the Alhambra TDI 184 bhp. Without taking into account price, which would you go for? I love high speed driving on the motorway. My former car was BMW 330d. But now I have 3 children. Thank. P.D. I am your biggest fan. If I may you should talk more about handling, brakes, engine..... Thanks
+Autogefühl Thanks. My main concern is having a minimum sense of "fun" while driving. Which one would you consider more "fun" or "thrilling" to drive? Thanks
Thomas - What a great mini-van. It has a lot of neat features. Too bad it is not available here in the States. It would give the Chrysler 'duds' a real run for the money. Thanks for the outstanding review. Nicholas
Just have a question - why doesn’t the 1.4TSI DSG model in Singapore doesn’t come with reverse camera as standard?? It’s an important safety feature should be standard for all models.
hi thomas nice review you seem to be the best at the moment can you tell me if you can fold the mirrors with the key remote from outside the car thank you bill
Thomas, you make me laugh suggesting that you can travel with 7 adults in this car! Maybe 2 adults in front and 5 adult dwarfs in the rear. Rear leg room looks very tight in 7 seat mode.
Hey Thomas , Iam due to change my car soon. At the moment Iam driving ford S max which is fun to drive and good on space too. Which one would u recommend S max or Alhambra?
+Ivan Takev Hi, same with the Sharan, there is just ONE combination possible: 2.0 TDI 110 kW (150 PS) Start&Stop, 4Drive 6-Speed manual. I wondered about that already with the Sharan, why only put AWD in the non-strongest-Diesel plus just with MHD? I dont know... but there it is
While I like the Seat's simplistic design, I favor VW in this case. Not sure if this has been discussed, but I find that VW is competing with itself too much. VW, Seat, Skoda are pretty much the same car and aren't limited to a country of origin. GM keeps Vauxhall pretty much to Great Britain and Opel to Europe.
+F Carv This reminds me of GM per-bankruptcy. They shared platforms between: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Cadillac. Differences were minimal. Even now, GM still has excessive overlap.
would you ever trust a reviewer with a french accent (even if you can understand it)? the German accent, on the other hand, makes the review sound truthful, serious and trustworthy.
Besten Dank für Deine Reviews. Hab jetzt ein Ali bestellt :-) Aber Dein englische Aussprache - Junge, das ist echt nicht immer einfach anzuhören. Sonst alles Tipp-Top.
Glad to say that i'm driving this new Alhambra, Style 7 seater, with 2.0 TDI 150HP 4WD, 17" tyres version. My insurance provided me with a SEAT Alhambra 2.0 TDI with DSG same specification as the car you're reviewing in this video. I loved it.
I really enjoy your review of the Alhambra. I think it’s design is timeless. I’ve place my order - Long wait for delivery.....was informed of expected delivery in September.

Nice and neatly done. well done.
The one to go for if you need a third row where adults can sit in comfort. The deep cargo with all seats up is also really good.

An excellent review confirmed my own feelings about the car. Looking forward to picking mine up next week, just in time for Christmas too.
enjoy!

The SEAT Alhambra facelift, today on Autogefühl,
your number 1 resource for in-depth car reviews
and your number 1 community to discuss cars.
With me, with Thomas and we're going to talk
about the exterior, the changes of this facelift,
the interior of course, here especially with the
flexibility and what can you change with the
seats and with the trunk and of course, the
driving experience. And we're also going to
compare this car to the Volkswagen Sharan
because we have tested the Sharan before,
the facelifted version, so this video will be
linked in the video description and we also
recently had a big van comparison video.

Tomas do a Lancia Voyager test, really like that car and wanted to se what you think about it in a review Have a nice day Thomas!
it's the typical Seat characteristiscs from their latest gen. interior & exterior look a lot like the current ibiza.
Which ofcourse not bad.
"It is OKer" :))) fantastic..also, nice shoes :) nur weiter so ;)
I think I would take this one because of the simple fact that you can't get the panoramic roof with the 7 seat configuration on the VW Sharan (at least on the configuration, it doesn't work)

+Autogefühl Thanks a lot
i miss the vr6 from the new alhambras (i have a mk1 and a mk2 )
Thomas - What a great mini-van. It has a lot of neat features. Too bad it is not available here in the States. It would give the Chrysler 'duds' a real run for the money. Thanks for the outstanding review. Nicholas
+Nicholas Gambino appreciated! Indeed, very good pick in that class. In Europe its a Maxi-Van though :>
My friend owns the 2014 ecomotive tdi and the interior quality is of vw audi quality.
Just have a question - why doesn’t the 1.4TSI DSG model in Singapore doesn’t come with reverse camera as standard?? It’s an important safety feature should be standard for all models.
this childseat is new? haven't seen this in the older version
hi thomas nice review you seem to be the best at the moment can you tell me if you can fold the mirrors with the key remote from outside the car
thank you bill
thanks bill! Tough question, if thats possible, there should be an option in the price list
thanks for the reply maybe one of your many followers on here can tell me if you can fold them with the key
Thomas, you make me laugh suggesting that you can travel with 7 adults in this car! Maybe 2 adults in front and 5 adult dwarfs in the rear. Rear leg room looks very tight in 7 seat mode.
+Stuart Crane Well most 7 seaters are not really fitted for that, lets take it that way as I said it: Its the car I can most imagine that works
It really fits in 7 SEAT mode
seat
Hey Thomas , Iam due to change my car soon. At the moment Iam driving ford S max which is fun to drive and good on space too. Which one would u recommend S max or Alhambra?

Thomas, please comment whether there is an AWD version and which engine/gearbox is combined with.
I dont know... but there it is
Ivan Takev Just getting the 184dsg 4drive version...to replace old 115hp manual 4Motion....big change :)
Autohold is awesome once you know how to use it
How tall are you Mr. Thomas? Just for a reference... Thanks!
6 ft 1
Missed the boot gadgets
How about rust?
who uses glovebox to store gloves? i dont :D
+minemac69 yeah thats some old habbit i guess :)
+minemac69 I even have driving gloves in the car - got them as a gift - and they sit in the doorbin, argh!
want this electric!
+gbriank1 Vauxhall and Opel are pretty much the same cars apart from different badges and model names
+F Carv I think what he means is that Vauxhall is sold in the UK and Opel in Germany whereas they sell VW, Skoda, Seat on the same markets
+Autogefühl oh yes got it now
+Autogefühl Thank you for clarification.
+F Carv This reminds me of GM per-bankruptcy. They shared platforms between: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Cadillac. Differences were minimal. Even now, GM still has excessive overlap.
Please, does anyboby know the color of the car?
I don't know
no option for adaptive cruise control?
+F Carv indeed that one is strangely not available although the Sharan has it
+Autogefühl one of mine "must haves" in any modern car
+F Carv yeah I agree. Really got used to that one as well
hehe, took me only 30 seconds to find out what language the guy speaks :-)
would you ever trust a reviewer with a french accent (even if you can understand it)? the German accent, on the other hand, makes the review sound truthful, serious and trustworthy.
:-)))
Besten Dank für Deine Reviews. Hab jetzt ein Ali bestellt :-)
Aber Dein englische Aussprache - Junge, das ist echt nicht immer einfach anzuhören. Sonst alles Tipp-Top.
Vor allem in jedem 3. Satz all so all so all so
