I run an SCX10 Pro and a VRD Carbon. The Pro weighs 2 oz more than the VRD. The Pro is as sure-footed and planted as they come. It climbs and descends like a boss. That said, the VRD has much better break-over and is 95% as well planted as the Pro. I couldn't be happier unless I lived near those rocks you get to climb! Thanks for a great comparison, it was very interesting to see where each truck struggled or excelled.
Each one of these builds is built around my Desert Rc Coyote Chassis. But yes, those 2 are very similar in abilities
The nose stand with a half twist was epic save 🤙
Nice comparison, one thing I would suggest is to edit the vid with both rigs on each gate back to back to get a better comparison. Gate 1, portal rig followed by clip of gate 1, straight axle rig. If it’s a full run before the next model comes out, we kinda forget how the previous rig did on that particular section if u know what I mean.
I agree and would add shoot it from the same camera angle for each gate.
Pretty much as expected. The Straight axle rig climbs and side hills better, while the portals are better when the tires need to straddle an object.
It would be easy to design a course to favor either.
For how I like crawling, I prefer the straight axle, but i can see the advantage of portals…especially if the course designer likes portals 😅
Tried to make obstacles to favor each type. Def depends on how the course looks that determines which rig I'll be using.
I like portals. The extra ground clearance seems to help more than than the higher cog hurts. Granted I don't have rocks like this to play on.
That was a sweet save, just subscribed February 2, this is my passion right here love it watching now 6:29 PM Friday
Imo both did great on both courses, but I believe as for staying planted that goes to the straight axle. The portal rig was nice for belly clearance but honestly the straight did good just on a different approach. To me line choice means more than just bulldozing through and also shows just how good the driver is.
I dig it - very cool!
Second set of gates you done you must really trust that old straight axle because that one Hill you come off of it was like a off-camber and you had to get the front passenger tire really close to the gate man you done an excellent job right there just a little bit of throttle and you worked your way right on through and down and out you did a very good job
Awesome comparison and great courses you set! I have both portals and straights and I agree with you…some terrain types really love portals….some really love straight axles…it’s awesome to have the choice of both! Great video as usual!
Great driving I have been diving in no pun intended into dive anti dive link angles risers where to mount them in body and the effects.
Portals vs straight def plays a role in that.
I have been loving the portals but the straight cog is easier to keep low.
I’m late to every game lol always building last years chasis lol. So came to portals late but wanted to do a sporty went Capra axles….now kinda wanna go back to ar60.
Great video dude, I really enjoy seeing you run gates! Makes me appreciate the difficulty of the lines more haha
Spectacular course you got set up, that was some nice driving nice slow and controlled love it
That’s some awesome side Hilling, that rig performs awesome
Is this in St. George on the backside of the Airport? West side. Great content and crawling skills. 👍🏼
Yes, further back in there
That drop-spin through the gate was tight 👍💯
Course to, that was nice driving I almost thought he’s gonna lose it there that was sweet
I’m greedy I have to have them both 😁👍 they both perform pretty good actually excellent, appreciate the video this is the beauty of this awesome Hobby i’ll be watching for the next one until then peace and chicken grease watching from Manchester Michigan 😁👋👋😎
I have both and use them according to the terrain. Great video 🤘🏼
Awesome stuff fella! Yourself and Rc Arty would have so much to talk about! I see you already are supporters of each other! Right On!
you both have awesome Channels!
These sand scorchers are getting really popular
I never try those chassis. By the video they are great👍
That was nice driving the second slug bug what I called them
very cool builds
Dang after all that, well that happens to all of us a little Oopsie
같은 지상고세팅이 가능하다면 무조건 포탈 승이라 생각합니다. 액슬높이로 인해 지상가고 상대적으로 높아진다면 포털액슬은 지형에 따라 결과가 달라진다 생각합니다.
These video answered alot of questions but I've got a transmission question for you and the watchers out there, forward motor mount or conmpact transmission like 2low or dlux, does the fmm add weight up high or the front ballast worth it and tcase points?!
You answered your own question. It adds chassis weight. The t case is the size of a dlux trans and lower cg. I prefer 4 link front for equal articulation and no hassling with a panhard link
@@DesertRockCrawler I haven't looked at sorcca rules not that I comp lately but I always thought class 2 has to be chassis mounted servo, or is that just class 1?
@@Mikro383 you can do either in c2. It's required in c1
@@DesertRockCrawler Thank you appreciate the knowledge
👍👍😎😎
Lose the annoying music. Would rather listen to how the rig is doing...
What do you have the wires wrapped in?
Wire wrap, you can buy on amazon any size you need
