    Btw, pomegranates are deciduous in subtropical and temperate climates. Make sure you protect them in temperate climates, they don't like to be in freezing temparatures for too long. Make sure that they stay in a cool place in winter.
    Edit 17/03/2023: My pomegranates succesfully survived a southern Germany winter! They are currently starting to pump energy into their buds. The buds are turning reddish green and are getting bigger.
    Edit 15/12/2023: We had -14°C two weeks ago and the shoots and buds look fine right now, I am keeping them in an unheated greenhouse. I hope we won't get frosts below -20°C this winter. It's very rare but not impossible to have temperatures like these where I live. We had a similar frost like this last winter, so I believe they will be completely fine.

      Für diesen Winter habe ich endlich ein Gewächshaus, in welchem sie die -14°C vor 2 Wochen ohne Schäden überstanden haben. Also zumindest sehen die Triebe und Knospen noch in Ordnung aus.

    can you please share the soil mix that you used, or what soil mix would be easiest and good for pomegranate? i am a complete newbie to gardening and my sapling now has about 8 to 10 leaves so i want to move it in a bigger pot before it dies out

    • @TonysExploration
      @TonysExploration  3 года назад +6

      You can buy those readily mix from nursery or you can use top soil + compost + pearlite in a ratio of 1 part each. The problem is pearlite is pretty expensive here in malaysia, so normally I don't use full 1 part, substitute with some sands . Also top up 10% mix with manure( i using goat manure)

    • @TonysExploration

      In general, soil mixture during germination is not very critical, the temperature is. All you need is to maintain the medium moisture and top up water when the top starts to dry up. It can be completely dark , but once germinated , you need to expose it to light or artificial light

      @@Havolli If you have an area which will protect your pomegranate in winter(an area under a balcony for example), then you should put it there. Wrap the pot in something and maybe put wood under the pot, so that cold temperatures won’t come from the ground into the pot. Northern France is a warmer region in which I live, so you should probably have much better chances in having a pomegranate surviving a winter. I live in Southern Germany.
