+Granville Marsden Top-quality English understatement :-) I've been to that beach - didn't realise that was a famous E9. The rocks are remarkable round that whole area.
i don't understand people who watch Marvel Comics movies to find super-heros. Hazel Findlay is right here with heroic strength, beauty, grace and style. This amazing person is real and outshines all the cartoon and CGI heroes.
Folks bitching about dad's belay need to understand that this is probably just bad editing. Doc footage is usually only shot with one or two cameras, so the sense of continuity is built artificially in editing by placing stuff shot out of continuity together as if it's in continuity. Look at the example at 3:50 that everyone's griping about. Look at the angle of his head. He's barely looking up. I'd bet cash money this was shot right as she started the climb before she even got to the wall, and he's just pulling in a little slack. Scanning back at a few other examples, all the "bad belay" shots I can see are likely similar. The footage gets passed to an editor who doesn't know enough about climbing to know that his cuts are going to look bad to people who know, and voila, dad gets blamed for something he didn't do because of mistakes made in an editing room.
That was both terrifying and awe-inpiring at the same time. Top climbers like Hazel are superhuman in my eyes. I wish it was people like her who were famous, instead of useless celebrities.
I would freak out if I saw her in public. Hate to admit it, would try to compose myself, but probably just totally freak. My wife too, this lady is super human
One of the best climbing movies i have seen lately! Really like the close ups of the fingertips and the general atmosphere at this awesome destination! Keep on inspiring us Hazel!
You are one amazing young lady...with more guts and courage than anyone i know...male or female. I have no idea how at time of writing 105 have thumbed down ????..shame on all of ya. The youtube peanut gallery strikes once again. But thankfully there are so many more that have acknowledged your achievement differently. Amazing stuff Girl...Respect, peace.
man that is so sweet to watch. What a lucky team. I have a 10 year old daughter and can only imagine how this musta felt for him. And her of course! Bravo lady. Bravo.
So brave..so amazing...no words just believing in something that so unbelievable and challenging.. WOW great team work.. pheww..I knew you guys were good...I'm gonna start breathing..❤️❤️❤️❤️🤔 Kapai..!!!
Richard H that's just the edit man, the editors in the studio don't know shit about belaying and they just grabbed any old bit of footage of him belaying, not the bit at that specific moment
Takes me back to my earlier days. I noticed Screda in the film so guessing it's around Heartland. I do miss the North Devon / Cornwall coast. Congrats on the climb... Great effort young lady

I love Hazel so damn much! She's so fucking brave and her relationship with her dad is just amazing to see. (And no, he's not a bad belayer. As others have pointed out, the shots that make him SEEM one are due to the cuts in editing, not his actual belaying.)
I did some scary free climbing when I was young and dumb. I'm 69 years old now, so I don't have to do it anymore. It scares the shit out of me watching these videos, having been on vertical places I shouldn't have been. I sort of understand why people have to go there. I subscribed, just for the thrill....
Damn it young lady. U r outstanding! I was getting a nervous stomach just watching u. Just looking @ the angle of that climb I would have bet money no o one could do what u did. Congratulations.... Ur super....

Looks sketchy af....😳
These people are remarkable. No red carpets, no statues, no applause at the end... Just a private, silent moment of self determination.
Her dad calling it, "a classy day out" is epic. Love Hazel!
Hazel is the perfect combo of "sweet" and "total badass" :)
Total sweet-ass.
amen to that
@Stellvia Hoenheim she's quite alright. Her voice and timbre makes her cute and he appearance is also good
@Stellvia Hoenheim stfu u piece of shit

E....what the E stand for. Probably something to do with “sketchy”...
@@RideAdventurous - The E in the British Adjectival rating system stands for "Extremely severe".
Ha! That awkward top pitch, we’ve all been there! :)

Stu Minnis good point!
glad you pointed this out
I actually agree wholeheartedly with this comment.
Everybody loves a gripe though. Thankfully this is now top comment, so people will realise.
idk his head isn't angled much but his eyes are looking up

Ha! I like that.
@Yup TheTakeOva why are you race baiting it's pointless.
Can you imagine Cristiano Ronaldo on that rope?
Wow. Brave Father and Daughter. No more words needed. Fearless.
True he is "brave" letting go of the braking end of the rope all the time while belaying his daughter.
One of the best climbing movies i have seen lately!

Love it! First saw this video back in 2015 when I was getting into climbing. Hazel, you've been an inspiration ever since!

Memorable to say the least. Glad you could share it with your Dad!
I could not watch my daughter do that, yet I’d be heart bursting proud if she did. Awesome lady.
Awesome time capsule for all generations, thanks for sharing the journey
When your protection falls out before you even put any weight on it... Yeah, that would be disconcerting.
Well done, lassie. Congratulations, Dad, you must be so proud. What a climber. The best.
Young lady I am so proud of you. Extremely modest, yet a goddess.
Skill , Courage, Confidence, Determination and her Dad being there to support her passion for climbing.
just awesome. well done Hazel!
My goodness, my hands are sweating just watching!!
You go girl!!!
Very scary !!!!
well done hazel. you are so strong, both physically and mentally
Wow what an incredible woman! Congratulations to you both!
I'm ever so proud of you for having the courage, skills and bravery to accomplish something almost no one can do.
This girl's got balls of steel. I cannot tell you how hard that is to do, kudos to you Hazel
This is just a really great piece of film, in itself.
"Classy day out" - I love the British penchant for understatement.
Here there are lessons to be learned...for me at least. Incredibly amazing. Loved it. What a beautiful and strong girl.
Yeah about how not to belay xD
Awesome dad and baby project. 🏆
What a great film... Top notch.
Omg, hats off to you. Well done.
The dad is so proud, it melts my heart

Wow this lady has stones of pure courage! Unbelievable!
So awesome! Congratulations!
3:50 "really watch me on yellow!" as he drops the break side of both ropes. Lol.

@@drtonyburns7321 To be fair it's not clear if he dropped the brake side on that clip....he could have just been sliding his hand down the brake side.
@Tilly Divine Hey. Us yankee climbers are equally incensed by the implication that Hazel Findlay's father isn't a god. Don't shit on us man.
You have all my admiration, Ms Findlay! (I've climbed hairy stuff, but that wall is ridiculously iffy, not to mention the stamina required.)
Such a legend!!! What an amazing climber!!! She killed that route especially breaking that hold and keeping going

It is flat for most people. Since most people don't have the ability to hold on to such small holds.

Well. Amazing route and amazing climber.
