It's nice to have the rep, but actually most British trad is perfectly sensible and not too hard. Otherwise punters like me wouldn't be able to get up anything! 😉 But yeah, Hazel is a machine! 💪
This woman is so amazing. Next time I'm scared of a runout I'll think of her and this video. It's so amazing to see what a perfectly trained body and mind can do. Thanks a ton for the film!
Hazel is such an amazingly strong climber. I don't mean just in the physical sense but her heart and will is something beyond what most people have. I hope to see many more climbs from her because she is an incredible inspiration to keep your head in the game and to drive on when it seems impossible.
I'm 46 and I've been a climber since I was 17. I've always admired the professionals in this sport. The British have always taken things one step farther than everybody else. It is not just hard moves but their runout as well. I remember when Ben Moon and Jerry Moffat were climbing hard and just thinking these guys are nuts. Hazel is like the next generation and I think she is just as nuts! There wasn't you tube back then. I feel really lucky getting to watch her climb. Amazingly talented.
Binging/rewatching these videos as I rehab from rotator cuff surgery. Her facial expression at 15:30 makes me laugh every time. Love her psych, totally respect her abilities and mental toughness!
What a BEAUTIFUL intimacy between two people, despite impending serious danger. Incredible climbing, incredible prep, incredibly wonderful people and spot on film-making too!
Loved how you could hear the crinkle of the foil next to the mic which she was working the route on a toprope. Wonder why she didn't clip that thread. Cam too good and rubbish thread just used as a re-direct?
Why is it that other lady climbers are all sharp edges, veins and throbbing muscles and then there's Hazel, smooth and cuddly and a world leader! I can hear the shrieks and cries of infamy, infamy ( he's got it infamy ) but its trooo. Great wee film Hazel, superb bit of work. Well done.
I mean this is great and all but that music is dead wrong. That shit filled med with anxiety and climbing is nothing like that, even scary run outs I bet
I mean.. it would. She could fall anywhere else on the route and if the big fall wasn't a ground fall then the helmet would be very helpful if she bonks her noggin. Or even if it is a ground fall, she might break her ankles but she'd keep her head safe.
you'd think BD would tell them that the grigri should be on the little side of the gridlock carabiner and not on the wide side

Climbers are a different breed... Amazing work, Hazel! That runout had my heart pounding in my chest. Glad you made it out safely. Props to Angus on the belay
Amazing climbing, story and cinematography! Please for the love of god never use that sound to raise tension again. It was profoundly annoying and distracting from the climb! :(
I'm not scared of heights and I climb a lot, but man, being 20 feet above your last clip on a climb that's at your level... The amount of mental readiness and fortitude that must be present is pretty remarkable.
Out of curiosity, what’s the general stance on pre placing gear? I noticed that some gear was pre placed while after the runout, Hazel started placing gear.
Amazing bit of climbing. Great film. Unlike other comments I thought the sounds on the crux added so much tension. Kind of like the heart beats at the start of hard grit! I was feeling it, real sweaty palms moment. Quite emotional too seeing the inters tion between Hazel and Angus, what a partnership. We need more films like this, proper cutting edge hard trad is ace to watch
Chavant clay and a mapp torch make fx silicone molds. 2 part clear urethane plastic with photoluminescent pigment mixed in airbrush them opaque white number them few glow sticks on the quickdraws go over to the dark side
Massive respect for Hazel. Every time I watch her climbing I'm blown away by her incredible footwork.
British trad in insane, as is Hazel in the best way possible

Amazing, thanks so much for the film!!! Hazel is such an amazing climber. The film's production is great too, congratulations to everyone involved
That's a 10 for style and execution. Always impressive legwork and foot placement so precise!

She’s such a legend. Incredible film too!

She's always climbing in the gnarliest spots! Such a talented climber! Epic climb -- great to watch! Congrats Hazel
she is just a badass, and her technique and flow, pleasure to watch as you also feel the tension of her run out...great video...
Totally next level. Massive respect Hazel.
Next level of bonkers, outstanding job Hazel very well done 👏🏼
I will never not click on a Hazel Findlay video! She's absolutely crushing
Amazing effort and well told story.
Please, do not use this tense background sound again.
say it louder for the people in the back
i thought it was cool
world class effort by hazle, great film, but holy sh%t your belayer top notch! shows how important the support is to the send 🤘🏻
Love this..great little film, so brave. Well done Hazel.
Binging/rewatching these videos as I rehab from rotator cuff surgery. Her facial expression at 15:30 makes me laugh every time. Love her psych, totally respect her abilities and mental toughness!
Great film and amazing climbing. Thanks for making it
Angus' support is fantastic. I want him to hold my ropes and call me love on my next project.
man that thrill, unbelievable. great respect. stay save
Amazing climb, Hazel! Super sick video!
Amazing, nerve-racking to even watch that
Wow!! Made my hands freaking sweat....
Blows my mind, such a brave and talented climber. I can't imagine the mental preparation whilst your partner is practicing running to take slack out.
Amazing! Hazel’s an incredible climber, so mentally tough. Think I’ll stick to bouldering in the sun, though…
Very nice Sound collage and a very cool Hazel!
What a BEAUTIFUL intimacy between two people, despite impending serious danger. Incredible climbing, incredible prep, incredibly wonderful people and spot on film-making too!
She rocks. We all know the fear prior to climbing
Simply awesome,
Omg I'm your biggest fan 🥺💅🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 we have the same first and last names!!!
😳 very well done
Honest film. Impressive climber.
incredible - what mental strength she has
2:39 "I might die lol" :')
The shot at 11:50 got me fucked up. Hazel is an absolute legend. Hope to meet her one day
Love Hammy❤️
Loved how you could hear the crinkle of the foil next to the mic which she was working the route on a toprope. Wonder why she didn't clip that thread. Cam too good and rubbish thread just used as a re-direct?
legends
Angus climbed it too!
What’s with the Half Life reactor core powering up at the crux? 😂
Woooor Hazel!!!
Back in the day certain ruthless characters would blowtorch wet pockets.
My hands are WET
Why is it that other lady climbers are all sharp edges, veins and throbbing muscles and then there's Hazel, smooth and cuddly and a world leader!
I can hear the shrieks and cries of infamy, infamy ( he's got it infamy )
but its trooo.
Great wee film Hazel, superb bit of work. Well done.
11:36 wow way to hang on!
nice
6:56 What is the purpose of these glasses ? Thanks
Great climb, so the question is: Is tin foil aid?
14:34 gotta put 0.25x to enjoy... pure technique pleasure
that cam slide @8:04
👏🏻👏🏻
♥ hazel ♥

Blimey.
Please can we keep US grades for US climbs; the English trad grading system is part of our heritage and an important part at that.
Says E9 6C in the video, we get its not the same but helps relate to a grading system US people are familiar with.
She put aluminium foil into a pocket to minimize the wetness. What a madlady!
That was fucking mega
Kudos to the tin foil! All hail the tin foil
Weapons grade female ❤️
1:08 Is foil aid? XD
BITD a dynamic belay had different connotations. It was part & parcel of the Climbers Rack at the time
Why so dependent on Angus? She seems to be capable of being her own woman
thath background musik is so annoying. it is thrilling without any horror sounds in the back
11:37 had to resist real hard to not turn off the video right then and there. Seriously? Come tf on, that's mad annoying.
Mega - didn't need the spooky music for the lead though.
Hazel is one of a kind. British climbing standards are so wack!
helal olsun
I mean this is great and all but that music is dead wrong. That shit filled med with anxiety and climbing is nothing like that, even scary run outs I bet
1
Epic!!
but i think we can do without the creepy sound in the background...
I think I know, why this crag isn't crowded... 🤔
Already watched on reelrock
tinfoil is aid
hazel is looking so strong! super scary climb. terrible background music.
I’m Sure that helmet will help her a ton
I mean.. it would. She could fall anywhere else on the route and if the big fall wasn't a ground fall then the helmet would be very helpful if she bonks her noggin. Or even if it is a ground fall, she might break her ankles but she'd keep her head safe.
Always risk of rockfall too
Too intense. I don't like spicy routes, period. Especially when they are trad. Saw too much trauma in my very short climbing career.
boring and fun voice
Fake

This video is a primer on how to be a good belayer. Supportive, encouraging, validating, lots of "Go on, love's."
Amazing climbing, story and cinematography! Please for the love of god never use that sound to raise tension again. It was profoundly annoying and distracting from the climb! :(
I thought that sound added so much tension Ioved it!
@@AndrewBenham We have different tastes I guess! Either way awesome video :)
I think it worked up until the gear placements. That was terrifying. After though was just a bit annoying.
Video: 10/10
Sound editing: -1/10

When your hands just start sweating from looking. just wow well done!!!
5.13c. On Gear. With wet rock. With a 30ft runout. With extremally high deck potential.
goodness
Tin foil is aid. Hehe jk. This is awesome!!!
Ohh, the panic at 17:15 though...
So, this is what it takes to convince a pro climber to wear a helmet. Jokes aside, amazing climbing!
Hazel... amazing as ever!
I'm sweating right now and I know it's not cuz of the weather! Amazing Climbing and belay!
Incredible. Absolutely incredible.
Out of curiosity, what’s the general stance on pre placing gear? I noticed that some gear was pre placed while after the runout, Hazel started placing gear.
I believe it’s traditional/accepted in Europe to place the first bit of gear, come back down, and then start the route.
Nice one Hazel!
Just damn.
This reminds me of the famous Alex Megos quote, “There are no bad conditions, only tin foil”
He WAS in the kitchen that day...

Agree to all of that Andrew!
Please don't add that background noise. It really detracts from the video and climb.
Chavant clay and a mapp torch make fx silicone molds. 2 part clear urethane plastic with photoluminescent pigment mixed in airbrush them opaque white number them few glow sticks on the quickdraws go over to the dark side
Are battery heat guns not useful in these situations? Would dry out that pocket in 1 minute
