used the code, thanks gents 👍
I am a fan of this podcast - I like and support you on RUclips but I want to point out that that most of the major World Tour events are geo-blocked on GCN+ in the US. TdF, Paris Roubaix, Flanders World Champs and lots of others are all blocked in the US. I subscribe to GCN+ but, because I live in the US, I only get to watch a few of the major events - really only MSR and the Giro. Everything else is not available. You should point this out - to be fair to your viewers - of which I am one.
GCN+ great subscription, hopefully I’ll be able to use an LRCP code when I re-up next year
Benjis Background changes so often that im now convinced he has to move through Belgium to not get arrested
80% cycling
20% humor
100% love this podcast
As an American, loved that LR used the GCN+ plug to contrast the insane value for a cycling fan v major American sports fans options. If you’re a fan of cycling- please appreciate the gift of GCN+ to our sport and our world of cycling.
My dude i get SO much value from that £5 per month. Like 20 hours of viewing per month. Who needs netflix?
We need to get three channels in USA to watch cycling- GCN is the best
REEEEEEEEMMMMMMCCCCCOOOOOOO!
After all our expectations had been built up in the lead-up to LBL, they were immediately shattered with the news about Pog's abandonment. Nevertheless, Remco rode an excellent race well supported by his team and was a deserved winner, though obviously we never got to see the big battle with Pog that we had anticipated. Let's hope that Pog recovers quickly and is back to his best in time for the TdF. In three one-day races with Remco (SSC, WC and LBL), Pog for one reason or the other has always come out second best and I hope that he is able to turn the tide at this year's WC as well as Il Lombardia.
Velasco was strong. In the breakaway all day, only one able to stay with Tratnik, caught before Remco attacked and still finished 19th, 2:13 down, only 50sec behind 5th place.
As soon as you mentioned NFL Sunday ticket RUclips hit me with an add for it haha
Yes Benji, Remco slipped gears when he first went. I'm so glad he won LBL
Enjoyed the race, and I really hope Pog will recover fully. I was glad to see QS riding well.
Thanks for the analyses. Enlightening and with humor- the best.
Truly and insane win when you think about it...somehow still an underrated rider
Remco first back to back this century 🐐 I want to hear Patrick's thoughts on Marnus bowling off-spin in county cricket. Surely a one-off podcast teaching Benji about Australian sports?
7:15 I think the "English fella on Carrefour de'l Abre" whose wheel exploded in Paris Roubaix, about whom LR is talking here, might be Derek Gee. He is not English (is Canadian) and neither did he crash on del Abre (crashed or had that mechanical on Arenberg) lol
Yes I meant Gee - LR
There is a clinic in England that does lazer surgery on broken collar bones. Lots of racing motorcyclist use the clinic, it takes a whole day to complete the process!
I think the Jumbo Visa Squad, will get the Quick Step team in trouble during the Giro. Tratnik alone is already riding for 2 😅
Well, all the hype ended up being a bust with Pogacar crashing out. Bummer. I was waiting all week for the battle and rushed to tune in, immediately heard the news. Chapeau to Remco. No one can even get close to hi
Remco looked bulked up, same thing I noticed with MvDP at Paris Roubiax and Flanders
The scaphoid is a special of the wrist bones because the blood supply is in reverse. I was only a Junior Doctor in surgery but remember that from anatomy lessons. Think standard management of a broken collarbone is to do nothing. Might have changed since I last did orthopaedics though. So you wouldn’t typically have surgery anyway. Old people that have hip surgery can often walk around the next day. How quickly they can use the arm depends on what exactly is done for the surgery. Also you can cycle on a trainer with an arm in a sling.
Incidentally, the injuries cyclists pick up are often the result of falling badly. They should have a World Tour League in Rugby Union so they learn not to stick their arms out.
Jan Tratnik being sacfiriced once more by the team despite being the team's best rider. LR, please get some justice for this man and advise TJV team to use him in parts of races where there is enough selection for his move to go all the way and not in suicide breakaways...
Pidcock cannot stay with Vingegaard over a 3 week Grand Tours when JV drops the hammer on the massive climbs
Did they ever state the opposite?
@@janbregar2561 they never even mentioned Jonas when debating whether or not Pidcock could challenge for GC in Grand Tours, and mentioned Pogacar, Evanepoel & Roglic. So by there obvious oversight, Jonas has to be represented, because I don't see anyone else doing 7.46 watts per kilo
2 or 3 weeks rest is not the end of the world for Pogacar
1:46 Funniest part ever :D
At 38:42 Buitrago's espression looks incredibly Nairo-esque
Gotta be mixed feelings for Roglic. On one hand Remco looks in serious form but man oh man Tratnick looked strong!
Any chance for a Tour of Alps recap?
Powless had a flat tire at some point with no team car behind which ended his race and hurt EF's chances of 1-2ing with Healy
Had honoré not crashed, they would have swept the podium. all three attack on faucons and TTT to the finish EASY
@@dpcater Healy is a wheel sucker ?? Are you kidding ?? He created and drove the 2nd group.
I was hoping Healy made the podium today, he was doing alot of work....
I was sorry to see Pog had crashed out - but he HAS had a long string of good luck previously.
We'll never know if Evenepoel would've beat enPogacar, but the way he easily dropped everypne was at least as impressive as Pogacar did on Amstel . It would have been legendary without the crash but for sure, Evenepoel would not have dropped.
It would likely be a sprint finish. I think Remco can only drop Pogacar on a very long climb
Seeing as Pidcock was able to stay with him for a while I think Pogacar could too. Likely goes to the line
I don't really get why everyone is so shocked by Quickstep's classic seasons these past two years, then acts like Remco's LBL wins were necessary to save them. The current incarnation of this team is basically a climby/GC team built around Remco, so I don't see why people still treat them like the Tom Boonen classic specialist-style team and expect them to win Roubaix or whatever.
Anyways, we missed an epic showdown between Pogy and White Bibs Remco, but maybe it will pan out in the world champs!
Great pody as always 🧃
Still can’t watch the race replay on GCN in the US. Been about 3 hours, gave up and came to the pod
it was broadcast (sort of) on CNBC in the US, don’t know when or if it will be on the GCN app for us
It's on Peacock in the US (as are pretty much all of the ASO races).
Guys, what was the podcasts episode with SD that LR recommended to listen to? Was it Watts Occuring? May have been on the different episode of LRCP, I can't find it now.
Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast episode of 21st February
GIRO GIROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Didnt thought healy would be that good at LBL
That sucks! Pog is always my favorite. I still think Remco got lucky!!
Any speculation where Alaphillipe might head off to, if he's still not getting any love from the boss, next season?
fdj if his form doesn"t go up or if his tour is a flop, otherwise he'll stay
Why would he stay, he’ll get better money at a French squad and not have to deal with lefevre anymore.
AG2R was interested a few years ago, don’t know what they’d be thinking now
Remco always with the asterisk win.... good race from him tho
I know Jumbo with Rogla will win😎
they put the strategy for Sanremo: sleep eat wake up go
Well this year's édition IS so frustrating for cycling fans, as soon as pogi crashed, thé passion was gone.
In la redoute WE would have Seen pogi and remco going alone !!!!!
Iwe have Seen thé expected , EVENEPOEL has no adversary today ,
Easy win, tasteless race
Speak for yourself
What adversary did Pog have in Amstel?
poggie already need help to win the amstel from that car and the bike chance he could do with only 25 sec gap . Maybe most of you dident see that but am sure Remco would have won today poggie was already not 100 percent anymore .
I can agree that expecting QST to beat Pog, VDP and VA with this classics team isn't realistic, but these are still the same riders that did well in past classic seasons 2-3 years ago, so they should at least be fighting for the win in races without those 3 and top 5 with those 3 (or podium if only one is present). So they really underperformed compared to the riders they had (and not bringing Schmid to the cobbles was a mistake, but what if Schmid himself doesn't like them?).
Apparently Asgreen's preparation still wasn't optimal due to his injuries from last year and some others struggles with illness or injuries. But that still doesn't explain enough imo.
Anyway, I do think QST wants to evolve to a GC AND classics team, and not just switch to GC. So the explanation for the bad classics season being the switch just doesn't sit right for me.
Pog has broken lunate and scaphoid in wrist.
This result does not really “save” Soudal-Quick-Step’s spring classics season, although Benji will have to tell us about how Belgian cycling media react to it, maybe it leaves a less bitter pill to swallow. The worst thing that could come from victory in LBL in my opinion is that people start to think of Quick-Step as a classics team again.
Can someone explain to me why I Ineos Grenadier‘s helped Soudal quickstep. Their shutting down of the break made no sense.
If you know that Pidcock doesn’t have his endurance why would you burn up the race?
Yeah they should have had someone up there with Tratnik instead of just riding as if the favorite was in there team like in some long ago past. The problem IMO is that Pidcock and his entourage clearly believe that he is on the level of the Galacticos, and he just isn’t. He just cannot beat any of them in a straight fight. Not on the road, not in cyclocross. Only in MTB he is really the elite himself, on all other terrain he is just below. Better for Ineos to accept that for now rather than constantly hyping him up.
@@rulifaller8474 I came here to say this. I don’t dislike Pidcock at all, but even fans have to admit that outside of MTB his big wins come mainly from a reduction in competition. He’s got some great attributes from attitude to bike handling, and at another time he might have been among the greats, but as of now he’s kind of “the best of the rest.”
Ineos like to up the pace before a climb for better positioning. They do that everywhere, and more often than not, their leader blows up on the actual climb.
Hot take. Pogacar abandoned intentionally because he did not want to get dropped by Remco with Remco just doing his normal pull (like what happened to Pidcock) 😉
Your take on the contract situation is ill informed. It doesn’t matter if Remco’s contract has a penalty clause or not. It’s a contract in the European Union and it would be illegal to lock anyone for the duration of the contract. If a penalty is not explicitly defined in a clause the law likely provides calculation mechanisms based on Remco’s salary if he decides to leave (another team would pay)
These monuments are quite boring with just one "star"-rider. Its remarkable how big a gap there is after likes of Wout, Mathieu, Tadej and Remco.
4km of celebration... But much kid, bit much
I always view lanterns rouge, however me, the pod cast is a bit fill of long winded posturing and bloated chatter, a mini competition. not my thing.
When you recommend Twitter accounts to follow, like in min 4:21, can you please spell it out or something? Literally went through your list of follows and didn't see any account named "Pique".
It took me like a year to follow ammatypiraily when you recommended that one.
