Can you do a cycling for dummies video? I'm new to cycling and I'm so lost with how scoring works for the sport. I saw some of stage 1 for Giro and the guy in 2nd place was barely a sec behind 1st place but the "official" score had him 4 secs leading the race? Please help me understand the sport more.

Think Wilco Kelderman will surprise us again tomorrow. He’s obviously on form and used to be Dutch national TT champion. Today proved he can do punchy and if he wins he can go into pink.
I like him, Kelderman is a pretty underrated rider. He isn't flashy, elegant or graceful, but the man has everything. Climber, puncher, tt, even a decent sprinter for a climber. He always places and never wins though. Last triumphed in 2015, 4 professional victories for a 31 year old rider... He is the GC rider form of Vanmarcke. I'm sure he'll top 10, probably even top 5, but I'd be surprised if he actually won.

I was not a fan and considered him boring, but yesterday it was like the new Wilco Kelderman had eaten the old boring Wilco Kelderman. I’d be surprised if he could hack the longer climbs later on, but a short time trial with a punch at the end…

I did say weeks ago that MVDP came back a changed road racer. Until WVA is back in the rivalry I've loved for a decade, Mathieu is my pick again for the TT to at least stay in pink. It's an easy CX distance for him and he'll smash it to pieces. Great job, guys!
Think the lost time of some riders was because they got held up behind the crash on the climb. With the speed the peloton was going up those seconds could pile up easily if you just had to put your foot down
I think the issue was that there was a slight turn right in the last 200 meters while the road narrowed down a bit. I think Ewan is fine, he just looked heartbroken at the end.
Can't see a reason UAE wouldn't go for Almeida is this finish. Ulissi is good at this, but Almeida is better. Either they meant to go for Almeida but he was too much at the back (he was midpack for a big part of that climb) or Almeida wants to win teammates loyalty by letting them so for this.
I don't understand why the camera angle at the finish was so bad.. there was such a big delay between the second to last camera to the final shot of the line. Really could've done better
Tbh, the constellation wasn't good for the escapees. First, no KOM points on reward, second, two riders from the same team (maybe tactcly disadvantageous for the other teams)
A friend of mine pointed out the shoes to me. I checked some clips and it seems that everybody has white shoes. Any ideas? Is that a peace symbol? Once you see it, you cannot unsee it. Edit: I checked the extended highlights on Eurosport and I think I saw someone with pink shoes and I spotted an isolated case of black. So we have some rebels in the sea of white.

After a fall/bike change a team worker often pushes the riders for a few meters, so I don't really think this was a problem, especially since it didn't change much if anything at all.

That would be to harsh on him. He was about 5m from the finish when he got help.
