Luigi was always my favorite character. At first it was simply because he was green(my fav color) then I played Luigi's mansion and immediately thought he was the bravest dude ever simply because he was scared out of his mind, but kept pushing forward to save his brother. Bravery isn't the absent of fear, its being afraid but still going forward.

@@Rediscool9 I'm AWARE of the RPGs, but I'm talking about the MAIN GAMES. Even if we were talking about the RPGs, none of them ever cover the story of how the bros ended up in the Mushroom world in the first place either.
Those Mario comics kinda remind me of the Mario RPGs, because they are very good being creative and funny as well. The Mario universe is very open-ended when it comes to story-telling, and I'm surprised at how much the super show and the movie failed for that very reason.
At least we got the do the Mario song out of it

+Dingalow Yeah, you could argue that the only Mario RPG that did not have any kind of interesting story and/or setup was Paper Mario 64, and even that one has its witty moments, even for a beginner's RPG. The Mario&Luigi series is also pretty good when it comes to trying to be fresh in the series.
Yep and although it's the black sheep I'd argue that spm is probably the best story/character development heavy of all of the rpgs. Does it play the best? Not necessarily; it's not even really a true rpg and more of an action/platform rpg, but I stand by it having the best story and characters when it comes to depth and humor.

+Sebastien Olibrice you get a hint of things like that is Super Paper Mario, but yeah there's really nothing quite like it. Peach needs her own game, a proper one this time. I'd honestly like to see her in a brawler or something like that so that she wouldn't just be a female version of Mario, which she's been doing for a while now with the co-op Mario games. Give her some of her Smash Bros moves and let her use her umbrella, and that could actually be pretty fun. They'll never do it, but I'd play the shit out of it if they did.

Man, watching this video really made me feel nostalgic. I remember reading the entire book so many times as a kid. Two things just occurred to me: 1) Peach has never been as hot as she was in that story; 2) this was technically the first manga I ever read.

I really hope nintendo starts branching out more with it's IPs again. I mean with the success of sonic boom, that proves that tv shows based on video games can indeed work. I would honestly pay really good money to see a full on Splatoon comic/tv series.
They are already doing stuff like that. Heck, there's a few Splatoon manga panels online right now.

At six seconds in your thumbs go crazy. I watched it like ten times and I think it was a weird edit but then I watched it again but kept focus on your face and it looked seamless. That's a huge credit to how much work you put in to these videos because if I didn't notice your thumbs, then I would have never noticed the edit. Or, you just have freaky fast thumbs. Anyway, awesome job as always!
I always felt like One Piece style of storytelling would work best for Mario think about it. It has a perfect balance between kid friendly and mature adult story for the series it already have so much wacky characters that could work as said characters or villains it has a lot of potential

The fact that Peach is gullible enough to believe she might very well be Bowser Jr's mother, despite the great illogical sense of cross species reproduction and the fact that his dad completely lied through his razor sharp teeth about everything. 2. The voice of Bowser in this game sounds like a drunk Cookie Monster. Harvey Atkin from the Mario cartoons was a much better fit.

Kanno that does not make sense a copy is an exact replica if it was a printer low on ink then the quality would show it has to do with the current condition the disk is in if its scratched up it may effect it saying what you said is like eating an apple then eating another apple exactly the same and saying its different because it wasnt a peeled apple
+IceManiac I've played through that entire game about 20 times and I've never had any glitches or bugs. It's possible that you just got an unlucky copy.

I loved it. People always focus on the crying emotion power, despite the fact she uses a parasol like a sword, can heal herself with relaxation, fly around with happiness and create stomping fire with her rage. I have no problems with it. Mario wishes he could do half the thing she does in that game-without special items! Just because it’s emotion power doesn’t make it lame. Hell, half of anime characters get powered up in emotional moments. They just gave you control over it in SPP.
As a kid, Boos were my favorite enemies! But that part when Mario helped the Big Boo, That just flat out made me feel sympathy for him!

I'll be frank about this: I got a similar impression out of Pokemon Adventures.
As someone who grew up playing the games and watching the anime series, I first saw the comics online when I was in high school and just thought it'd do the same thing storywise as they did. But it did more than stick to the general storyline; when I started reading it, I found myself being continuously hooked and kept flipping through the pages just to see what'll happen next in the story. And I think it had to do with the great drawings, the phenomenal action, the addictive storytelling, and AMAZING characterizations. In the end, I was left slack-jawed over what a great adaptation of the games this was!
FYI, the saga that I stumbled into back then was Ruby and Sapphire.

Yes I have. Peach mopped the floor with Zelda. I've also seen the Smash History video on Peach's moveset that goes into great detail about her abilities and the various games it's based on. Much like Goofy, Peach is secretly badass, but Familiar marketing always makes us believe she's just a smiling airhead.
Imagine Nintendo being their own Pixar. Japan directed awesome CGI movies of super mario bros, Zelda, Super Metroid, star fox...

A little fun fact about Yoshi and why he only says his name in the comic: before Game Freak could make Pokemon, Nintendo wanted Game Freak to prove to them, they could make a game, this became Yoshi for the NES, this is also why one of the magazines joked about being able to find Yoshi, Mario and Luigi in one of the issues.

It's shocking how many elements in Super Mario Adventures foreshadowed future developments in the entire series
What on earth was wrong with Mario Sunshine?! It was like Mario 64 but with the memory and tech power to not only improve but to expand.
In my opinion its one of those games everyone needs to play, hell its the only Mario game you need to play to get the full Mario experience.
Never mind that the visuals still hold up and considering its taking place in a holiday resort (which means that pretty visuals are important in reinforcing the setting) thats important for more than just "gud graphics" sake.
Just don't see why you used that example when there are other crappy Mario games and clones that don't hold anything.

Well yes I get that but for how he used the example it was like he was pointing out the obvious dud in the franchise. He didn't go into detail as to why it was bad so I assume its because its known as "That bad mario game".
Like I were to take Avatar as an example of not being up to scratch I would add the live action film, since everyone knows it was a dud, and explaining it is not necessary.

He took what I have heard to be a well received Mario games, hell in my opinion the best. Its just a confusing choice. Its like saying something like "And Peter Jacksons Career hasn't always been great" and showing a picture of Lord Of The Rings. Simply confusing.

See what I mean? Its reception is more than impressive. Its certainly not the kind of reaction that warrants such a "Oh yea...THAT game" impression that the Critic was providing.

The only people I think that feel that debating your opinion on something as silly or wrong are the kind of people who can't represent their appreciation well enough. I've gotten into debates about anime before and while I have had my opinions questioned I was able to defend it while learning more about the other person as well as myself.

Wow. Badass Princess Peach (Toadstool?) is pretty much one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
The Sonic comics were also good for different reasons (although the current one is good for the same reason as these Mario ones, for now.), good for different tastes. Hundreds of new characters and Sci-Fi horror elements.

they give Bowser a personality in the Mario And Luigi RPG games, he's kinda like Tom from Tom & Jerry if Tom was a villain kidnapping princesses, it's pretty fucking hilarious, in fact, a lot of the characters in this spinoff series are likeable including the villains of the stories like Fawful, Antasma, Cackletta etc.
Super Mario Comic deserves it's own show! We have the technology, we can easily make it happen!

Wow no shout outs to the artists and writers who made the comic? No research to see who they were and what their careers were or what could have inspired such a unique take on Mario? That was more than likely the reason why these comics were so good, not anything to do with Nintendo.

I recently found a bunch of Nintendo Power magazines in my parents' basement. Rereading the comics now... I might get the collection just so it's all in one place. :)
They should make more with the tone of new characters we have now it would be alot more fun than before
I owned that graphic novel as a kid and really loved it. Then I went on vacation with my parents and accidentally left it on the plane. I was so heartbroken, but luckily the stewardesses had found it and it was still in the lost property storage when we flew back home. I got it back and I still have it today.

Wow, I never knew about the Mario comic series. It's nice to know that if Sonic and Mega Man can have phenomenal comics that have worlds and stories that go beyond the games, Mario can do it just as well! The Critic should take a look at the Archie Sonic comics.
