    Anytime I run into actual EOD personnel, I ask them if their favorite movie is The Hurt Locker and I am always sure to mention how accurate and realistic the movie is. You should try it. The rage in their eyes is pretty entertaining.

      Talking Hands Alright to each there own, idk I really liked the way the movie was shot and the way that it took a stance on war and the modern military. From a cinematic standpoint, I felt that the movie was filmed in a very captivating way with tension created through angles. Plot wise the idea that war is addicting was interesting as it was an idea that I never thought would have been fleshed out at that time. Besides all of that I have to say that I loved Renners performance as his capability as an actor showed through the inaccuracies of the movie giving (at least for me) a good sense of suspension of disbelief. But again to each their own.

    • @TalkingHands308
      @TalkingHands308 4 года назад

      @@aarnavpanchal646 But that's the thing, the way she tried to portray the military, the military command structure, the whole "war is addicting" crap, all of it is also completely wrong. She basically was trying to push her own preconceived opinions about the military in the movie and it was complete garbage as a result because she obviously has absolutely no clue. Even the "tension" you speak of is created with these really forced situations that would never happen, which is just lazy writing in my opinion...

    • @aarnavpanchal646
      @aarnavpanchal646 4 года назад +1

      Talking Hands I get where you’re coming from, I can see your point and while there is some laziness in the writing I can say that it wasn’t enough for me to not enjoy the movie, but still I get your point

    Just one quick oversight. Overpressure doesn’t cause expansion, it IS expansion. The blast creates a powerful wave of super compressed air, followed by a vacuum, followed by a tertiary reverse-direction overpressure as the vacuum is filled again by air.
    The primary overpressure compresses you, the vacuum pulls the air from you, and the back blast compresses you again. When strong enough this process can cause lung collapse, brain damage, and internal hemorrhaging.
    Side note, when a blast happens in a rigid hollow structure or an enclosed space, this process repeats thousands of times in an instant, greatly increasing the risk of injury.

      It's not just its inaccuracy. I enjoy some really cheesy stupidly inaccurate war movies. The problem is the message this movie tries to push about the military. About how the film tries to portray how things were done. And yes, then pile on the heaping piles of total and utter bullshit that they try to pass off as accurate and it just seals the deal on how terrible this movie is. Seriously, I know you're a civilian who have never served (I make this assumption only because you enjoyed the movie, it's not meant to be an insult toward you, but there's absolutely ZERO chance of you liking this film if you have any knowledge of the military what-so-ever) but even you should recognize when film-makers actually spend the time to make sure they represent something accurately or at least make the attempt at authenticity. The only thing done in this movie was the setting and making the surroundings look good. Other than that everything was a total disregard for accuracy... And a lot of the movie relied on really forced drama that really shouldn't have happened in order to keep the tension. That kind of artificially forced drama is just lazy writing regardless of the film's overall accuracy...

    Here's a thing: that windshield explosion in #3...that doesn't happen. All other windows on cars are tempered glass so they shatter in full all at once, just like that. Windshields though are actually two pieces of glass sandwiched around a flexible middle layer. That's why sometimes you see people kicking or peeling off whole windshields in movies...and why a rock on the highway doesn't cause you to get a face full of tiny glass chunks

    most explosions are almost invisible, except for the initial flash which is actually plasma, a little smoke, and the rest is dirt/dust. Even simple hand grenades also have a kill radius the size of Nuketown, not that 6ft bullshit, but they did at least get the animation right.
    The trash was not only accurate to the period it was shot in, but being a movie about IED's, trash is actually a terrifying obstacle because it's a common hiding place for IED's. Especially after you find an obvious one that could just be a dummy to lure you in or make you stop right in front of the real trap.

      Thing you didn't know about the Oscars:
      Its an industry award designed for Hollywood to suck everyone's dicks than makes normies fight over products

      the chair is back, but renji won
      ea, and sometimes I make a great joke. Still doesn't justify a 3 hour award ceremony

    Even though this RUclips video is 2 years old now... Yes, it has inspired me to watch the movie again. As for accuracy, I don't care cause where I'm at, I get to watch drone IED's go off trying to blow me up or scud missiles.

    It certainly deserved its Oscars. Renner should've won for Best Actor.

    I hate that the gun they used was a Beretta 92s instead of the 92fs, or M9. You can tell by the trigger guard, it's rounded instead of having a flat front.

    The movie represents earlier on, around 2004. Listen to the commentary, and a lot of the complaints in the message board were discussed.

    What I want to know is, whose idea was it for Renner's character to take off on a one-man mission into the heart of Baghdad AT NIGHT to save some kid? The film wasn't at all bad up to that point but then completely jumps the shark. Was it really written that way? No one thought to question whether an American soldier running around Baghdad in the middle of the night on his own (and not getting lynched within about 3 mins) might not possibly be the most authentic depiction of life in Iraq during the war?
