I think in all my long years of gaming this is the only combat music I've ever heard that makes me wanna run away and start the battle over because it's so epic
@@szkieleton I lost once during my first playthrough, so it's hard to do but not impossible lol. I got bombarded with MTs that were of a higher level and I only had a couple Phoenix Downs XD
this song really fit on the hunt because its generally a stronger enemy and the song makes it feels like you are cornered and have to fight back another masterpiece
This game gives such a amazing sense of brotherhood that fee (if any) game has ever come close to. You really get the sense of being attached to Prompto, Ignis and Gladius. Like they're real brothers.
I remember one hunt I went on, the enemies were way stronger than I should've been able to reasonably take on. So the fight dragged for a LONG time. But honestly, it was still fun and satisfying in the end. I still won that scrap, and had this epic soundtrack playing in the background the whole time. Never forgetting that experience.
I've been humming this song so often that it's even stuck in my Wife's head... Awesome and badass battle theme.... You know that this is an excellent Final Fantasy when the music gets stuck in your head. This has to be one of the best...ever.
FFX has some really good themes but it's really not my favourite ^^ as well as FFVI has some real mythical themes but it's hard to compare a game OST of 1995 to a game OST of 2016 :D
Geralt: I came because I heard a badass theme song. What are you doing here? Noctis: Hunting monsters. Geralt: You and I are gonna get along just fine.
One of the most amazing fights in a game for me was one of these hunts It was such a long battle, lasting somewhere from 10-30 minutes, and after practically a war of attrition, we still came out on top Never gonna forget that fight
The button swap come from the original concept about the buttons icon meanings. O to accept X to cancel Square to perform action Triangle (ressembling a head) for view.
Makes more sense tbh. It's just difficult teaching your brain to switch, and for the first hour or so I played FFXV on release it was a struggle to reteach it back.
At least in europe, FF7 PSX default button layout was also X to cancel and O to accept. I had to configure both FF8 and 9 to use O to accept as well... i could not play well otherwise. I had to get used to it in FF10 though (no configuration possible)
Colors are also involved in this, in Japan myths and culture blue is often depicted as negative while red is positive hence the fact that circle is red while cross is blue
OblivionXIIIHD Figured I'd comment here rather than making a new thread, but yeah, it's always been a thing, at least since VII. Japanese players have always had O to confirm and X to cancel (to match the symbols), while in the West, it's always switched to X being confirm and O being cancel, at least it was the default in VIII and IX (had to actively change it to Western layout in VII, I believe..)
First hunt and it was instant love after I heard that track. You always worry a bit when starting a new FF game it could be not that good but damn I love this game so much and the soundtrack nailed it.
According to the official metadatas, Yoko Shimomura has composed the entire OST alone :) she's just amazing and can sometimes compose things differents from her usual style :D
Nope. This soundtrack is entirely composed by Yoko Shimomura. Shimomura outside of KH rivals Uematsu. She's incredibly varied and can mess with every kind of style of music. The woman came up with Guile's Theme. She can do anything
@@terazyn Hunt or Be Hunted was composed by Yoshitaka Suzuki, who also contributed to some arrangements in FFXIV. This may be where the alleged similarity with Soken comes from, since Suzuki arranged a bit of Soken's music.
Speaking of that, to answer the question, because O being the confirm button, and X being the cancel button makes more sense XD the rest of the world is weird. No different than A and B on the Nintendo
Ngl i hated FFXV the combat despite being an open world you couldn't drive the car around and so many other aspects but the OST and graphics were fire no doubt
The combat is some of the best. It' not hack and slash as enemies will trample you as seen in this video. FF15 is the most strategic combat seen in an open world game. It plays differently too obviously since changing targets is a thing you have to do. Also you can get the off road Regalia before you finish the game.
I think in all my long years of gaming this is the only combat music I've ever heard that makes me wanna run away and start the battle over because it's so epic

check out the xenoblade 2 battle theme, and the counter attack theme.
i would like to also tell you to check out the crossing swords theme from xenoblade 2.

I swear, the difference a pair of earphones makes. Yoko really struts her piano in this one.
Years later, just one precision: this is composed by Yoshitaka Suzuki, not Shimomura
This soundtrack gives me hype and excitement to keep fighting xD
Everytime i see noctis get knocked down ibhave the urge to press square despite being nowhere near a ps controller
soooooo good when the melody drops

sounds very Metal Gear
It does, but Shimoura was the composer of this track and Yoshitaka Suzuki is the arranger. The arranger, I believe, worked on Metal Gear soundtracks.
