For a "plain Jane" project, it sure came out pretty. To give credit where credit is due, I think that can be chalked up to a beautiful piece of wood, and someone with the skill to turn it so well. I hope you DO have a Christmas project in mind, your projects, themed or not, are always so much fun to watch.
Just don't let those puppies give you the cute eyes and run amok in your shop. I don't think the Angry Chipmunks would appreciate that.

Hard maple is beautiful wood. It is under-stated, but it's grain is plays with your eyes. Great bowl!

I really enjoyed this one, Mr. Pohl. This bowl has such a lovely shimmer. I loved watching you develop the shape of the piece, you had some very interesting camera angles, and the pauses helped me see the look of the wood grain change as you worked it -- just great, great, great! I always like your videos, but this may be my favorite. The fact that you seem to be enjoying yourself, also, always makes for a better video. So nice to take a break from the madness of the world, and see what beautiful thing you are creating at the Pohl Barn. Merry Christmas and God Bless you and yours in the New year!

Turning wood without resin is so nice for the finishing aspect, but I am with ya Doug, resin is just more interesting even though I hate the time it takes to sand it and get the finish right. I had the name 'Bubba the Butter Bar' in my head haha, I need to get one, he seems to serve you well! Job well done Doug!

I like the look too with transparent resin to finish it.
I can understand why people like that rotted falling apart and worn out look but it is only something that can be used for a centerpiece with flower arrangement or a bread bowl. Just my damn OCD talking.
