Wow, I have just learned how to use Everything. I have used it for 20 years as a software engineer, but I never used any of its capabilities. I only typed part of the name and found the file, then went to the location and copied the file from the folder. I could have saved hours of time over 20 years! Thanks! Awesome video! Best regards.
It can buy it is very slow. If you want to search for content, use windows search. Windows index is always updated and ready. Everything is great - and extremely fast - for for attribute search.

It is a great app, but I put too much on my new 2 gig drive to reformat now. I will still use it when I can. EDIT I used your tip below and found the other way to add folders. Works great as usual. Thanks.
Hi Dr Nitin, thanks so much for your very informative video. Recently I found an old hard drive which I attached to my computer. I couldn't get "Everything" to search the drive! The solution was that the drive was FAT32 and I had to reformat to NTFS before it worked. FYI

I too love this search tool, but I think there has been a change in the Options that I hadn't noticed until recently. It seems that at one time it defaulted to ignoring case unless it was set to match case. Now I can't figure out how to get it to ignore case. Any help?

If you want to find all pptx files in any folder which starts with "part" then the syntax is The correct syntax is folder:part* pptx If you want pptx to be the extension (not anywhere else in the filename) then folder:part* ext:pptx

I downloaded Everything and set it to search the drive but the problem is how can I search album artists? When I search for an artist only the name comes up in the actual mp3 title and does not show results for album artist. I've tried everything and can't figure this out. Please help
Hello, is there a way to browse in and out of folders exclusively inside Everything software ambient ? (If I double click a folder in Everything in order to access it, a windows explorer folder with that path just pops up instead. I'd rather stay inside Everything, is this possible ? Thanks

Right click will work. But a simpler way is to use the syntax folder: or path: and type the folder name... folder:audit this will list all folders which have the name audit anywhere in the path.

Read the search syntax. It is really powerful. I am also learning new uses all the time.

Just FYI, it can search inside file contents, in 'Advanced Search', under 'A word or Phrase in the File'

I have not tried it. But try MusicBrainz Picard: An open-source tool that can identify and tag music files based on acoustic fingerprinting.

No. Not to my knowledge. However, if you want to look for some file in a specific folder use the syntax "folder: filename"

Right click will work. But a simpler way is to use the syntax folder: or path: and type the folder name...
