@@Maki-00 Collared greens are not found in Pakistan, unless someone has imported seeds and is growing them in their private garden. Some of them call it 'palak' in the video and that is the specific name for spinach in Urdu/Hindi. A very common pairing in villages is mustard green/spinach stew/curry paired with griddle cooked flat bread of maize flour (makai ki roti) served with butter or ghee on top, so the flavour combination of maize and spinach is known to these men.
Collard greens, Turnip greens, spinach, and Dandies were interchangeable for me growing up. I just about can't eat greens if they're not hot, boiled and salty.

Roti is like that too except it’s flatter than naan and looks more like a tortilla but it isn’t corn.

As a frequent visitor to the USA from the UK I absolutely love corn bread . It’s just completely un heard of and not available here in UK
@@AftabKhan-yq5sk really?!?!? 😟
I am new to the channel and loving how all of you are so open to new foods. Have any of you heard of or tried crawdad? It's also called crayfish, if made like in American Louisiana way it's so good.
I was raised on soul food. This looks like supper any day of the week except for the spinach. We'd have collard or turnip greens. I'm glad they liked it. Its just good food!
I wonder if the “spinach” is really greens, and they just don’t know what else to call it.
I wondered that too.
They probably don't have collards where they live. It might be easier for the chef to just have used spinach.
The Americans of African descent, who essentially created soul food, were fundamentally village people when they derived the soul food menu. This is why these people can relate; it logical.
Can't get enough of Tribal People!
My absolute favorite RUclips channel.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏽
"It looks like a torn piece of Egyptian pyramids.." ⚰️. I'm done 😂😂😂
I love them so much. It's one thing that was missing and that was sweet potatoes. I just love the way they eat the meals without complaining. Great job guys
Two important missing items:
1. Hot sauce (Louisiana)
2. Kool-Aid (red)
I started making naan at home and my family loves it
We buy can naan at our Costco here, it is so good! I love to toast it.
I just tried sesame naan from a new Pakistani restaurant and I'm addicted. Usually I am not big on naan, prefer rice, but it's fantastic. Try it if you like sesame! Plus you get to say, "kul ja simsim" (open sesame)
@@andrewludwig9251 We go to an Indo/Pak/Bangla grocer 45 minutes away and guess what? The naan at the local supermarket chain is as good or better. Maybe because there's a large South Asian population in my town who also don't want to drive to 3-4 towns over.
This is a beautiful video message which crosses barriers! I PRAY many can see such BEAUTY of the human soul and being! I've watched a few "MESSAGES". They are messages to us all! And I am grateful!
It's amazing how food can make people from two different sides of the earth have much in common. As a person from Louisiana, I approve this soul food meal🤤
Baton Rouge here!! Hi neighbor!! 😊
I miss Louisiana, but only because of the food.
This is yet another great video. Thank you for this. It's so nice to see amazing people try what many of us in the West consider everyday foods. Chaudhary, Gul Sher, Tahir, and Rana, I wish you to have many more great meals.
He should have quickly explained to them where the food comes from and stuff.
They never do.
Maybe they do, off camera.
You guys are amazing. May God bless your families and your walk through this plane and into his presence to be with him for all eternity. But until then, please keep doing what you guys are doing. I love watching your reactions to new things and seeing similarities in others! God bless!
These videos have made me realize how much we have in common with these men. Good content
Great job with the meal preparation today. I think everyone will be happy with how the food turned out. There some small variations depending where you go but this looks like a good representation for southern soul food. And Dr. Tahir is right about constipation. I have to watch how much flour I eat these days.
Cornbread mixed with milk. They will love it. My dad ate it every single night with buttermilk. He lived to be 90.
I drink buttermilk everyday am 70, no health issues, workout everday
My Mom is 82 and make cornbread and buttermilk on a regular. One of her favorite meals.
@@barbarajohnson3876 what is buttermilk ?
“It tastes like I’m eating butter” 😂😂😂 took me out because I love me some baked Mac and cheese 😂 never heard it be compared to butter before lol!
I love that Mr. Tahir always offers the viewers to “try” as well. ☺️
This channel won't be perfect without each of them.. ! I think because I get to used watching them 4 all the time. And I enjoy the channel. 👍
It's such fun to see these sweet guys and hear their remarks about food they get to eat! I'm glad they enjoying soul food! I'm from the south and soul foods great!😃
I enjoy all the Tribal People Try videos! Especially this one. Soul food is so delicious! Thumbs up! Please keep the videos coming!
These guys still put a smile on my face ❤️ APDTA 🙏🏾
These gentlemen bring a smile to my face every time! Their reactions are so pure and sweet. I hope they can come to the US on a food tour sometime 😊
I've been waiting for this video! Im so happy they liked soul food! My favorites are fried corn and smothered turkey chops
Now fried corn will be on my brain until 4th of July. My mom won't learn how to make lasagna and I won't learn how to make fried corn 😔
My first time here. These gentlemen are absolutely adorable! I love seeing people try different cultures’ food and customs!
I grew up with this food on every Sunday. Glad they like it. Add some fried fish and we’re good.
And sweet tea!
Some black-eyed peas would be good too!
They are so happy when a big meal is served. It makes me so happy, when they are pleasantly surprised to see a big plate of hot food. I know they never know if they will get a weird candy or a good meal. 😂😳😂😂 Also Mr. Tahir seems happier than usual, I’m glad for see that! And everyone likes it, amazing !
When I was boy, my mother would crumble the leftover cornbread into a glass then add milk. It was a treat for me.
My grandmother would crumble it in a bowl, and add milk and sugar. We would eat it like that with a spoon. Good memories!
My granny would add buttermilk to it. Great memories!
milk and black pepper in my family
OHHHH SNAP MY MOM TAUGHT ME THIS AND EVERYONE LOOKED AT ME WIRH DISGUST IVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE ELSE DO THIS 🙌🏿 THE NOSTALGIA THIS SENTENCE JUST GAVE ME
That was what we had for cereal too when I was a kid, those days will never be again, these kids today wouldn't touch it😅😂😅😅
I love watching the guys. Who'd have thought we could get such enjoyment just watching the guys eat foods from around the world. God bless them and their families.
I have been waiting for this episode, and it didn't disappoint. Thank you for spreading joy.
..Good effort ya'll, just gotta use some Seasoned (Southern style) collard greens, moisT cornbread (not overcooked), and the coating for the chicken looks great (a side of Louisiana hot sauce would be helpful too)-the mac n' cheese looks pretty tasty thO!!! ☺
Ramadan Mubarak everyone who celebrates
I live in the United States in the only city so far in the US that publicly recognizes Ramadan out loud with calls to pray announced because so many people live here who observe Ramadan it has been made official here. This city is Minneapolis. And you should all visit someday! In summer. Come here in Summer.
Asa,.. Ramadan Mubarak. They call to prayer here. The Muezzin calls the adhan on a microphone from inside the mosque. It is broadcast outside. We're in Boston.
Glad you recommended summer, as a fellow Minnesotan, I agree winter might be too much.
Kayfabe - the first time I heard this name was on a podcast by Eric Weinstein.
@@rahusphere Kayfabe is a wrestling term that was used to mean to stay in character for your fans. It’s not really a thing today because wrestlers go online as their real selves and we know about who they are etc. I like the idea because most people have a little bit of kayfabe in life, whether it be at work, or not being their complete selves in public, and to me it means no one knows your complete self no matter how much of it you show the world.
@@Tamidewa I think it would be a huge shock and people may even get ill if they were to arrive here in, say January! I used to live farther North too, up in Hibbing. Your here too so you know exactly how our winters can be!
I really like the expressions and thoughts of the man with the white shirt and black headpiece as well as the man with the long black headpiece and big mustache. They make it a joy to watch when they taste the food. Thank you and blessings to all of you.
These folks are always great!
I love that they still eat the food how they normally would with Indian cuisine and also how they assume we eat cornbread with curry! love seeing their interpretations
I think they would love collard greens. (But maybe spinach was more accessible. Someone send a big can of seasoned collards to them! I'm in the UK or I'd do it. Lol) There something special about fresh corn bread, still warm, with real butter. I'm really surprised at how much they liked the mac & cheese! (Rubber noodles! 😂)
Lifetime Sunday dinner! Glad they enjoyed it, but give 'em some butter for that cornbread!
Such delicious food s so happy they liked them!
lol I love these guys!!! I don’t know how I stumbled across this channel but these guys are great. I enjoy watching them dissect the food.
I'm so pleased they enjoyed it!
You make me smile always. I love the 4 of you like you are related to me. You are all so special.
Cornbread is a southern bread in America. It is eaten with other southern 'comfort' foods(black eyed peas, mustard or turnip or collard greens, potato salad, etc) as well as our American chili. Cornbread is usually eaten as a sweet cornbread or nonsweet depending on where you are from...but most eat it with butter.
Great with butter and honey...too dry for me otherwise
Cornbread is great crumbled into chili, with or without beans
Chicken n dumplings?
Nope nope nope! We blk/indigenous at least all my relatives make every since I was a kid 😂😂😂😂 and we're not in the South never have been.☺️🙄😳😂
@@ohslimgoody you do realize that no one is really indigenous in America. Even the Indians aren't indigenous. You have to go back to the Egyptians which is why the Incas and Mayans have pyramids in South America.😏
Food for the hard worker. Good if your'e living an active lifestyle like these guys. Bad if your'e sitting in front of the computer watching cartoons all day. Like us.
These guys always bring a smile to my face! I'm happy to know they enjoy soul food but why do they call the greens spinach? Were the greens replaced with spinach for collard or mustard greens?
They probably don't have collards where they live. So they had to use spinach instead.
They eat a lot of mustard greens in Pak, but a ton of spinach. Not sure what they were eating but they mistook iceberg lettuce for cabbage. Might just be confused about the word
They were eating spinach.
Needs some sweet tea with that meal. These videos bring a smile to my face. May God bless you
I wonder if they would like collards. We love them.
Collards need bacon. These folks don’t eat pork.
@@ksqwerty1 smoked turkey meats will sub. It's opp..gotta have jiffy cornbread 😋
@@weizerthanbud2989 ...ahh, so you like sweet cornbread. My family prefers regular cornbread (Martha White Yellow cornbread). I'm a 4th generation Texan.
I think they are eating collard greens .. they are just calling it spinach because they probably haven't heard of collards before. Collard greens definitely have a different taste than spinach. I love both, but they do taste different.
@@purpleandred7 of course. But maybe they couldn't get collards there. I live in Hungary and we don't have them. Only kale and spinach
Take these guys to New Orleans for a week. And for heaven's sake, give them some butter for that corn bread or give them buttermilk biscuits.
I would be honored to cook them some of my soul food...I can get down!!!🙂
I'm not bad on the barbecue, but I'm certainly not on par with the women in the mid south. What are your specialties?
@@JJ-uq7te
Smothered steak, pork chops, chicken, lasagna ect. I grew up cooking with my paw paw from the South. I can cook pretty cook everything, but don't ask me to bake nothing...it will be burnt!!! Lol

The "rubber noodles" are my favorite too. 😄
😄
Makes me smile when he said if remind him of his village it's supposed to it's soul food 💜
I’ve got to try some roti, in almost every video they mention it! It must be delicious! 💗💗💗💗💗
Roti is bread, usually flatbread, any flatbread is roti, the recipe may vary. It must not be eaten on its own, then at least put a royal amount of butter on in.
Very easy to make at home.
It tastes exactly like a soft taco shell. It is unleavened flour and water and cooked on a flat or domed surface.
if you like Naan you will probably enjoy Roti. At least that’s my experience
they are flatbreads that are used to dip into meals and eat with the bread. Like with Indian foods that have much sauce and you scoop it onto the Naan, or use Naan to make the meal more hearty. Roti is like that too except it’s flatter than naan and looks more like a tortilla but it isn’t corn.
I am from Pakistan we eat 2 time roti breads, in lunch and dinner in breakfast we eat paratha it's oily bread.
Soul food is food prepared by the slaves forced to be in America as a people of African descent we came with innate traditions and applied them to what foods came to our table with LOVE ❤️ that is soul food 🤗
