    As much as Jadzia's character was vaguely defined, and as much as Terry says she was uncertain how to play her, I always, 100% bought her as a wise old soul in a young woman's body. A wise old *playful* soul maybe, but she had a certain poise that really worked. Terry shouldn't be so hard on herself.

    • @ChernobylPizza
      @ChernobylPizza 6 лет назад +10

      I think her character was a bit boring. Perfect in every way, no weaknesses. Now that isn't her fault, that was the part she was given. I believe the writers realized this about Jadzia and tried to overcompensate by focusing on Ezri's weaknesses. She was way less annoying than Kira though!

    • @reddaB
      @reddaB 6 лет назад +23

      ChernobylPizza True, with the Ezri being a more fallible Dax, But I also kinda felt that was a bitchy move towards Terry, and the fans, making Dax such a flake, like they neutered a strong creature , like took her down a few pegs. And then no Jadzia in the last Episode flash backs, it all read to me as a viewer as a pissy move.

    • @jasonfenton8250
      @jasonfenton8250 6 лет назад +16

      ChernobylPizza To be fair, a being with centuries of life experience would be pretty flawless, since you would learn from all those past mistakes. I think that's why she worked well as a side character. A trill that wasn't under two or three generations old would be very hard to write as a lead character without throwing in some very obvious gimmick or trauma.
      Also, Kira was great, not annoying at all, not even in season 1.

    Well that little bit shocked me. Dax is one of my all time favorite characters in Star Trek. Smart, funny, gorgeous, wise, playful. I feel so bad for her because i really wanted her to be there at the very end of the series, and although in a sense her character was (in a manner of speaking if you know what i mean) the person and charm of the (Terry Farrell’s) Dax was missing at the end of the series.
    I know there was contract and personality issues she may have had behind the scenes but I really missed her in the final season and feel that “Ezri” just did not have enough time to develop any kind of memorable character ark as DS9 was too late in the game for show to develop any sort of effective story for Ezri which was not her fault.
    It just makes me feel sad that Terry Farrell is truly done with the show as she deserved better then that, we the fans will never know how things would have been different in that final season of DS9 if she would have continued as her character.

Loved her since that film (damn shame she never returned for another sequel in that series). Terry Farrell had a strained relationship with Rick Berman one (main one) of the producers on the show. Just google about this and it will come up. Also I totally believe that if she would have stayed on that show (minus the Berman shit) I think they would have gave her a spin off, I truly believe it. Kira got the DS9, Sisko became a spirit, Quark is quark, Odo went back to the Gamma Quadrant, Worf went to the Klingon Empire to help fix the issue there. I think they could have used her in a spin off but the issue would be what.
    I would love if she would have been able to explore the Gamma quadrant with her own ship as captain but the Founders wouldn't allow it and also it was against their peace accords. The only other option is if it turned out she was recruited like Bashir to work for section 31. I can't wait for the day that they decide to have a star trek series that deal with the inner workings of the federation and to be honest with you the darker side of it.

    This TV series could come back, and be hugely successful. Of course, the years have passed and someone, unfortunately, is no longer there, I think for example of Odo, or Nog, but I'm sure that inside Deep Space Nine, maybe a new space station with 100% Fleet technology stellar, there would be no shortage of stories to tell, starting with how the characters have changed. I imagine Kira as very mature and thoughtful, in the role of Captain of the Space Station, and Sisko, promoted to admiral, in support of her former first officer. Just as I imagine a great civil war on Cardassia, the hunt for those who had collaborated with the Dominion forces, the peace treaty with the founders, Odo's last gift and much more. Greetings from Italy

Yup... I had my apprehensions. But when I saw the chemistry between her and Sisko, and then with Worf, she really grew on me. Needless to say, the episode where she was crushing on Mr. Spock, really made it seem like her character had really run the gamut. Well... that and also her final episode, where she was practically praying to the Bajoran Prophets to be able to conceive.

    Yea, it isn't shattering news she just didn't have the knack to play the role for her character the way it was written with that multiple life time experience thing. I never once felt that conveyed through her scenes even though she said the words. It would've been better if they just made her character a regular human or alien who was smart and athletic. Can't see why they had to make it more complicated than that.

  • @erentheca

    Damn. Now that's some honesty. I always got the impression, not just from her portrayal, but from the writing, that Jadzia was the one character on the show they really didn't know what to do with. Conceptually, she was brilliant: an ancient being with literally seven lifetimes of experience. None of that, however, came through on screen. She didn't have any of the learned minimalism someone of her age and experience would have. Frankly, if written correctly, her character would dwarf every other character on screen. Instead we got, as she said, a wall of naivete, reciting anectdotes which had no fundamental credibility.
    How do you write/perform a character with that level of experience and wisdom?
    Guinan.

      She's ready for her closeup, for a reboot of DS9, now that Paramount has decided to go more for quality, than the firehose of the excess of quantity, of the last few years :-)

    I loved her in the show. I think she done a wonderful job. She seems highly critical of her performance, I kinda feel like she's being too hard on herself.

    They should have just told her to be herself like they did Frakes. Would have been more interesting. I'm more interested watching the real her than her character most of her time on screen. I think I was most interested in her on DS9 when she was trying to get Keira to lighten up and relax or when Dax was hanging out with Quark.

    Definitely the hottest chick in Star Trek. I loved Jadzia Dax and Terry was magnificant playing her. Not to take anything away from Ezri cause that was a good character, but I was very sad, and still get sad, about Jadzia being killed off. Especially how much I was rooting for her and Worf's romance when watching the series.
