@@MrMustache-yn4zm I'll never be over it. They are some of my absolute favorite fantasy books. And definitely my favorite fantasy world, right up there with Tolkien to me personally. Been a fan for 20 years now. Just hope I get to know the end one day!

I have said this in the earlier tease of "Words of Wisdom"
and I am saying this again - We are getting a release date at World Con 24, Glasgow.
Because :
- Firstly, I definitely think it is not Blood and Fire or Dunk and Egg sequels, because the teases have been absolutely direct. And come on he cant be such a cruel mf to tease us with these WOW material and then give us a colouring book or any other book.
- Secondly, Its been 14 fucking years now, and it has to be Winds of Winter.
- The great dragon cake theory.
- Recent meet up with his publisher.
- Putting his assistants on hold and telling something is coming up.
- A very much perfect time, because Season 2 of HOD will conclude and Dunk and Egg have started the production. Even if we look at the timeline and George's writing speed, I feel he needs at least an year or two to write further Dunk and Egg Novellas and since he has made a promise to the audience and himself that he will write D&E after WOW, I feel this is it!
Please GRRM now you've made fans try to locate a dragon shaped cake. you have to stop this
I still think our boy George has been writing both books this entire time to be done with them once and for all.
I thought of this as well - I could see George doing that.
Stephen King did that with the last three Dark Tower books. He published several other books between Wizard & Glass and Wolves of The Calla. Then he got run over and was like, shit, I almost died, better get those books done. So GRRM writing both books wouldn't surprise me at all.

Its gotta be close, he said 75% done in 2022. We're halfway through 24 now and he's finally going back to worldcon.
Why would be even bother showing his face there if he didnt have something to show? Winds by Christmas this year.

Time to remake Game of Thrones
I did some digging and this is the third time George has named a post Words of Wisdom, but the first time he did was on 2014, almost ten before the Words of Wisdom with Faulkner and blue rose post, and that first one had a quote by George saying something like established writers gave newcomers a hand. So it's not common for George to post Words of Wisdom, so there is something there.

I started game of thrones in march, I’m midway through storm of swords now and I think I will finish Dance around late august. The three month wait until I can read Winds is going to be BRUTAL!!!!!!

From back in his interview with King, he said it pretty much done and as they got talking he let slip he had already written part of the final book as well (Tides of Spring? Forget it's working name)
The update during season 8 (The tragedy) Martin talked about the shows upsetting finale and how so much of what he had written he had told the showrunners and they botched it hard. This left him now with knowing the audiences know what is coming leaving him with the decision to change things or rewrite entire storylines & perspectives.
I hope the years since he weeded "the garden (his form of writing, slow and time to grow)" to deliver one hell of a book.

My plan for the book when it finally is released is to only read one chapter per year, so I will have something to look forward to until the last book is released.
If we are following the Teddy's birthday idea, Faulkner's birthday is 25th September, so perhaps Winds will be split into two volume, released at different times, 25th September for part 1, 27th October for part 2, and if he released a third one of these, with a quote from someone born in November or December, then we can guess Winds will be split into 3 staggered release volumes

Summerhall is probably going to be mysterious because of lost information, the maesters will explain it, but it will be very limited to keep the mystery going, George loves leaving some mystery because they are more intriguing and interesting than flat out telling everything

There was a time he was actually dropping chapters rather than hints of chapters. There was a time he was giving himself deadlines. If optimism was misplaced there, I can’t imagine the odds are better now, but of course I’m hoping.
Just got into the books and I’m so excited that there seems to be solid development and a possible completion of WOW. I remember watching a clip literally like 5-6 years ago before I even watched the TV series about how he was “almost done” with the book😂. I’m so excited to see the direction he takes in the book since the TV show flopped so hard towards the end. I am a bit worried about A Dream of Spring though.
You can go back in march with another post being titled Words of Wisdom, on march 11. The tags of the post litteraly are #writing and #dreams. Writing A Dream of Spring. Lol.

Rickon is on mysterious Skaagos with Osha the wildling and hinted at monsters and cannibals. And don’t forget Quentyn Martell (slathered in Neosporin), Pretty Maris, the Tattered Prince, and Penny the dwarf. [All plots not incorporated into the HBO series because they did nothing to advance the ultimate stories of battling the White Walkers and Danaerys being as crazy as her father.]
I feel they will announce it alongside the DOTD series finale so it doesn;t take away form the show but hypes it up to hold everyone over to Dunk and Egg .

The WoW posts are great news, I think Grrm is signaling the book is complete or near complete. But the cake is most likely for FaB2. The timing for FaB2 makes more sense with all the HotD hype.

I am a huge fan of the show and the entire world of Ice and Fire (already read World of Ice and Fire, Fire and Blood and The Rise of The Dragon) and know some things that happen in the books because of the internet and I just started reading the Game of Thrones for the first time because I am delusional that when I finish the series the Winds of Winter will release :D

I wonder if he's going to release both books at once.. Since he's easily had the time to do so.. And it would make more sense to finish the story after this long of a break. Like if no ones heard any leaks at all from WoW, it's not impossible that he's also kept the last book a secret.

I think it's a bit exagerated to put Dunk and Egg situation with the main series. Sure, both books are not finished, but like, the main series seems to only need 2 books to end. While Dunk and Egg, i think there are 3-4 books made so far? And George was like "I'll do 12 books about Dunk and Egg" or something like that. No way he can do that seeing how much time he usually take between books, even if he get inspired, that's way too much for a old person.

The reason why everyone is expecting TWoW is because the ending of A Feast with Dragons is missing. If George publishes all Winds chapters in TWoW, most of us will be Ok with waiting a decade for the end of the series, a few will even be Ok with ASOIAF not officially ending.
