I did some digging and this is the third time George has named a post Words of Wisdom, but the first time he did was on 2014, almost ten before the Words of Wisdom with Faulkner and blue rose post, and that first one had a quote by George saying something like established writers gave newcomers a hand. So it's not common for George to post Words of Wisdom, so there is something there.

Even if we look at the timeline and George's writing speed, I feel he needs at least an year or two to write further Dunk and Egg Novellas and since he has made a promise to the audience and himself that he will write D&E after WOW, I feel this is it!

Just got into the books and I’m so excited that there seems to be solid development and a possible completion of WOW. I remember watching a clip literally like 5-6 years ago before I even watched the TV series about how he was “almost done” with the book😂. I’m so excited to see the direction he takes in the book since the TV show flopped so hard towards the end. I am a bit worried about A Dream of Spring though.
I feel they will announce it alongside the DOTD series finale so it doesn;t take away form the show but hypes it up to hold everyone over to Dunk and Egg .

Hot take (or not): The reason why everyone is expecting TWoW is because the ending of A Feast with Dragons is missing. If George publishes all Winds chapters in TWoW, most of us will be Ok with waiting a decade for the end of the series, a few will even be Ok with ASOIAF not officially ending.
If this is true, it’s great news. Unfortunately I’m sure the 7th book will be finished by another author using the notes and outlines GRRM leaves behind the same way (and for the same reason) the Wheel of Time books were because I’m guessing he doesn’t have another 13 years left 😢

I think it's a bit exagerated to put Dunk and Egg situation with the main series. Sure, both books are not finished, but like, the main series seems to only need 2 books to end. While Dunk and Egg, i think there are 3-4 books made so far? And George was like "I'll do 12 books about Dunk and Egg" or something like that. No way he can do that seeing how much time he usually take between books, even if he get inspired, that's way too much for a old person.
I saw an interview recently, George was talking about House of the Dragon he said he was writing winds and HBO said here is a pile of money, write this. He giggled and said ok. So figure every pilot or show he will stop writing winds to write dunk or house or whatever else they want.

If this is true, it’s great news. Unfortunately I’m sure the 7th book will be finished by another author using the notes and outlines GRRM leaves behind the same way (and for the same reason) the Wheel of Time books were because I’m guessing he doesn’t have another 13 years left 😢
I started reading first book back in 2017 thinking WoW will release in 2018-19 with last GoT season....
I forgot about book in the meantime and read it this year, and we still have no winds of winter lmaooo

Genuine question: The show was derived off of material that was never written in the last few seasons right? If this is the case - will WoW be completely different than the show? Mind you - I have not read one book.
I think it's a bit exagerated to put Dunk and Egg situation with the main series. Sure, both books are not finished, but like, the main series seems to only need 2 books to end. While Dunk and Egg, i think there are 3-4 books made so far? And George was like "I'll do 12 books about Dunk and Egg" or something like that. No way he can do that seeing how much time he usually take between books, even if he get inspired, that's way too much for a old person.
I saw an interview recently, George was talking about House of the Dragon he said he was writing winds and HBO said here is a pile of money, write this. He giggled and said ok. So figure every pilot or show he will stop writing winds to write dunk or house or whatever else they want.
I feel it'll be disappointing. Now need Pat Ruffus to finish his doors of stone
