One theoristy way to explain how Treasure Tracker prequels all three games at the same time is simply that each was a separate expedition that ended in the final locales. The first ending with 3D World was after Toad saved Toadette, the second ending with Odyssey was after Toadette saved Toad and Wingo kidnaps Toadette again, and the final ending with Mario Bros U. was their expedition to find the Super Crown, and Toadette just had it on her when she left to help Mario and the others.
I bet when Miyamoto is on his deathbed, he'll release a statement explaining that all Nintendo games are secretly linked together into one continuity, all connected through a dizzyingly complex web of time travel, with Captain Toad at the center.
I'm surprised you never mentioned his origin in Galaxy, even in passing. Yes, it's irrelevant to the topic, but it is a definite start to the timeline.
Captain Toad has been around since Mario Galaxy, so the special episode could be a prequel to Mario Bros U. While the main story is the prequel to Mario 3D World
On top of all of this, it’s important to note that Treasure Tracker is a sequel to Super Mario Galaxy 2, as the Green Star Comet from the end of that game plays a major role in the ending of Treasure Tracker, and the beginning of 3D World. The main toad brigade members were last seen in Galaxy 2, and actually weren’t present in the Wii U version of 3D World, making Treasure Tracker their first appearance in five years. So really, you could create any number of timeline combinations for the games between Galaxy 2 and Bowser’s Fury! I personally see it as - Galaxy 2 (Green Star Comic Lands) - Odyssey (Toadette joins the Brigade) - Treasure Tracker (The Toad Brigade heads out in search of grand treasure) - 3D World (Green Stars made their way to Mario’s planet) - 3D World (Captain Toad and Mario reunite in the Sprixie Kingdom) - Bowser’s Fury (The full Toad Brigade meets up with Mario at Lake Lapcat) - Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Captain Toad appears solo again, with the main cast all back together after the events of 3D World) But that’s just my thoughts! What do you guys think? - Treasure Tracker (
I am one of the people to have played the game on Wii U. It was a long time ago so I don’t remember the specifics but I did enjoy. I remember not buying the switch/3ds version specifically because they cut out the 3D world bonus levels thus making it a worse version of the game. For the story stuff I am probably bias but I prefer the Wii U for the fact that the 3D world cutscene looks like it has more effort in it then the odyssey cutscene.
You didnt even mention his appearance in mario wonder, where he says that its your first time meeting him, no matter which character you pick, that means that either wonder takes place before galaxy, 3d world, odyssey, and treasure tracker, or captain toad has dementia
Yay!!!!! I love when you upload!!!! This put a big smile across my face when I saw it in my recommended!!!! Seriously, your videos are the highlight of my day.

I was gonna comment something else, but this is the best theory I've read

I need a sequel to this game. I feel like we'll never see one, but I was a big fan of this game.

Thanks so much! Your comment just became the highlight of mine!
It's not Nintendo ruining a timeline it's promotion
2:16 they're more like separate books. It's funny how the game acts like they're sequels.
LESS GO CT:TT CONTENT IN 2024
