Thanks, Thomas! For a WeGlide story it is easier to take pictures with a camera or a smartphone. The timestamp of the photo will be associated to the flight track automatically. When I record videos I can make screenshots of the footage but the timestamp is not accurate or not available. The workload for me to record a video story, comment some parts of the flight and -focus on flying- is already at my personal limit. I am just looking into the glider (and for the future perhaps PPL) scene, and this looks so cool! I have absolutely no experience with flying, itself but played a lot of simulators and a study related to aerospace. How do the systems run? Is there just a battery inside the glider or does it uses something to charge?
I started with gliding and didn't want to make the PPL training. For me it is boring to just fly steight and spend a fortune for the fuel/ overhaul of the engine. 😂 But also to learn the basics of flying before the PPL , gliding is a great choice! The avionics run from two small LiFePO4 batteries with about 10 Ah @12V. For charging you take them out.

It's so quiet! This must feel amazing
It is ;)
Wow, great to watch from "Down Under". I recognised the Hintertuxer Glacier where I have skied at about 17:00.
Recognized it too!
I didn't know gliders use water in their ballast, but I'm curious. How much water do you use and how to prevent freezing in cold environments?
loved the low save at the end, quite the feeling when one manages to dig our way out from there! and succeed.
He was 50M from deciding to land in a field 😮
Top ace pilot to attempt and complete such a mission .. congrats
Thank you so much!
What a great document of your really impressive trip. Thank you especially for showing also the difficult parts of that flight. It is truly stunning to see how you manage those situations. I wonder if you also linked some footage to weglide so that we can connect the videos to the glide path more extensively.
Also the video editing, creating a thumbnail and publishing of such a video takes me several hours up to one day.
I will need to find a way to speed up this process and also improve my WeGlide story ;)
@@SteFly - I can totally understand that even though I haven't experienced it myself. I only heard from so many other content creators how much effort it takes to create stunning content. For that I am really grateful. I also hope that the effort is rewarding for you as well!
Thank you again! :)
Wow as an Alpine ski lover I'm getting emotional just watching this stunning landscape. Can't wait for next winter ❤
Most environment friendly way of travelling and enjoying the aviation.
I did something similar over the Alps more than 25 years ago with Ingo Renner ( great glider champion).
Impressionante Stefan! Meus Parabéns from Brazil...
That was Fantastic! You're at a party and you tell the ladies and guys that you just flew over the Alps in a glider have a look. That's a great intro line.😎
I don't think ladies are impressed about this 🤣
Ey, das ist solch wunderschönes footage! Danke Stefan
ive never really seen inside of a glider before as ive never really thought of them, but whats the handle on the left for?
I'm currently 50 hours into pilot training and I am wondering the same thing
@@Flow-.- im a couple thousand hours into helicopters and about 13,000 into DCS, yet gliders never crossed my mind.
@@TheArcticFoxxo Shit man 50 hours in a C152 irl and around 2K in the DCS A-10C ii. Gliders still perplex me. A simple youtube video would probably explain everything but I’ll keep it a mystery
@@Flow-.- i prefer the old fashioned way. going around wikipedia looking at source links. i think i have somewhere between 1500-2000 hours in the Ka28, going on about 13600 or so in the mig 19 on DCS. you'd be surprised what it will pull if you're used to it
Best 3 videos you've posted! I love these series, you should do more travel!
I need more time...
Yep, i get that. It’s not a thing you can do all the time.
@@SteFly go balls to the walls and do as much as you can now as when your my age, there's a finite amount of time left. Never look back and say, "I wish I had just ......"😁
This is so cool to watch Stefan! I haven't had the chance to get into gliding yet, but I certainly want to. Thanks for sharing!
I always though that Bruno Vassel did a better job with flight footage and conveying the feeling of flying and you were always ahead when it came to everything on the ground (showing the glider inspection and explaining things). You made a huge leap with your flight footage these last few videos in my opinion. I love the longer cuts without music. Good work!
Thank you!
Fully agree!
Bruno hardly uploads anymore.
I watched your whole video flying, it was amazing and ive never felt this motivated to get my pilot license. Thank you for this amazing video, Stay safe!!
I would be so terrified what if I don't find the next thermal and there is no airport in range for an emergency landing. Need to have plenty of courage and a positive mindset to be sure to find a thermal to gain altitude and keep ging further out. what stunning views. beautiful
But also to learn the basics of flying before the PPL , gliding is a great choice!
The avionics run from two small LiFePO4 batteries with about 10 Ah @12V. For charging you take them out.
Man you're living the life right now! Extraordinary scenery!
✌😊👍
I feel like I know how to fly a glider from Pilot Wings 64.
The hang-gliding in that game was the best.
Hi, newbie question : don't you fly too close and too low around mountains ? It looks like the wing could touch the mountain.
Wow! Amazing! Flight over the mountain ridges is definitely another level.
We call this man for delivery when a apocalypse happen

Its the first time when i see a video about glider, i need to ask you why do you put water in your wings? 0:15
Adding ballast improves high speed performance
Fantastic film. Greeting from Poland.
this gliders water fuel ? no gasolin,, no jet fuel ?
Damn you make me feel smart
You are such a Gliding Ace, Stefan! Any other pilot would have had about ten outlandings trying to fly this route, on such a marginal day. 👍
Man, I get all emotional when I see those beautiful mountains (I think I miss the Paragliding I used to do). 😢
Thanks, Johan! Perhaps other pilots would have been faster aswell ;)
Every time I´m in the Alps with my glider, I´m blown away by the scenery and how cool it is to fly there.
Man that looks beautiful! Looking forward to finally finish my license so i can fly with people with you up there
Thanks mate! All the best for your training!
That was some expert gliding! I would probably freak out flying so near those mountain ranges flying on wind power alone. Thank you for such a fun video!
Very interesting, I just recognized the tower at 5:57 and found out that it's also a "Horchturm" (reconnaisance tower) which was constructed during the Cold War. The first time I saw one was at the shores of the Baltic sea.
We never hear about gliders going down…they’ve got to be going down once a month…

Didn't know gliders could do this.. VERY AWESOME! So skillful!
I too like to live dangerously and leave a little bit of white on my nose. Absolutely stunning views
Why do you put water in the wings?
