Key word was “towards the end”. First contact is what sets the scene. The land owner could have handled that quite differently. Honest mistake by the rider.
So sorry you got yelled at 😟 farmers do have trouble with having their crops trampled, but that’s no reason for him to have such a hissy fit! Maybe he’ll wise up and place a proper sign that leads to the correct direction. I have found that since the pandemic, people are more angry than usual. Anybody else observed this side affect?
Yes, the pandemic has affected society in numerous ways, especially seen in a rise in mental health issues. Crime rates are soaring in the US….. random acts of violence, riots, assault and battery, murder, domestic abuse, hate crimes, etc.
Actually, in the US, I think many people had a head start on angry prior to the pandemic. I found myself saying the other day that I was angry at all the angry people! 🙄 Good grief.
You were properly prepared and handled it well. In explaining the confusion caused by missing signage, you assured him you rode carefully and apologized. The man could have handled the situation in a more civil manner. His wife appeared to be attempting to guide him towards appropriate language and a calmer tone. So sorry this happened to you. It just genuine mistake Tata contact bhsociety put signs route also record and update sorry lost confidence case crops upset him but maybe he should put land private sign had same headland walk Cornwall signs gate similar enter and wasn't was private angry farmer try apologize not fall path steep incline side angry me honest God
You handled that very well Tara, it's not nice when people treat you like that, especially when it was an honest mistake. It's not your fault that there was lack of any decent signs. Good on you though for standing your ground 😘
You were perfectly right Tara there was no indication at any point to show which way to go and not a soul about to ask. You handled the farmer very well so his anger dissipated. Hope you have success with the gate. 🥰
Well, I assume you got home bc you posted this. 🤔😊 And you are correct, there were no visible directions for the bridleway. You handled yourself magnificently. The lady was sweet, the man belligerent. I bet she has smoothed the waters more than once in their marriage! If the gentleman (and I use the term hesistantly) was so upset about people riding through his crops and by his horses, then it behooves him to put up large signs and arrows. I could tell you were flustered, it ruined what had been a pleasant ride. I'm so sorry. ❤ love to all.
Most importantly...there was NO posting anywhere to show you were on "Private Property"..so his upset was nonsensical...POST your properties boundaries if you don't want trespassers!
These situations really are upsetting. I gave been in exactly the same position except the farm I was riding through had a couple of very nasty dogs roaming around! Luckily my horse was not to bothered by the dogs but the farmer was far from polite! I think when there are no signs its just a way of making access more difficult. Well handled though. You had your map and I think the wife realized you had done everything possible to find the correct route and not trampled crops. Deep breath and relax. 😌
Well God bless you both. My Arab could always sense my slightest emotion which made mounting from the ground that much harder. He KNEW I needed to get on from the high ground, and made me work for it. That ride you were on seems desolate, and I wouldn't have wanted to go back nor would I. Stay safe and well you two.
That man didn't need to kick off like he did... Bless that lady she was trying to explain where to go and he was just speaking over her... You are always careful and never go on the crops... I understand that he doesn't want riders on his land but why not have his own sign up... NO BRIDLEWAY ACCESS... Problem sorted...
Yes, I’ve seen plenty of signs like that, where clearly they’re used to getting people going the wrong way, so put up a sign to direct you the right way. His attitude suggested he was a bit fed up perhaps of riders going the wrong way, but as you say a sign would have solved the problem or even a sign positioned that you more clearly see directing you left when you came up the path. I’m not sure what the local bridleways group is like local to Tara, but I’d definitely be contacting them to ask for better signage to be erected 😊
Oh Tara! What a dreadful man! You explained what happened and there were no signs. You didn’t hurt his fields either. I’m glad you had it all in video! Wouldn’t he be surprised what the whole world thinks of him!! How many times do you have to apologize? Oh my! I hate that it happened to you and sweet Farouk!! His attitude is abhorrent! You handled it well! Stay strong! Much love to you from Pennsylvania in USA!👍😘💕

You handled that well. You apologised but stuck up for yourself too. They have clearly come across a few rude horse riders in their time and are treating everyone they meet with the same disdain. I hope they realise after meeting you that all horse riders are ‘ not the same’ a lot of us have good manners and it was such a genuine accident on your part. I think they realised in the end as the helped you find your way. Sorry you were so upset. You didn’t deserve to be treat like that. ☹️
I used to be a Warden in the Lake District. We decided to walk all the paths and do an audit of signage. Amazing how out of the way some of the signs were; or missing; or downright wrong.
Tara so sorry that the farmer upset you so. I thought you handled it very well. And good boy Farouk for standing still so your mum could get back on!! Wonder why the bridleway wasn't marked better?
? Devil's Advocate: Maybe the old codger removed the signpost on purpose to confuse riders...keep in mind, the entrance to HIS property was not marked either!
Poor you Tara there was no need to shout at you it's a good job his wife was there maybe she will get the sign put up properly and tell her husband not to be so rude , well done to you for handling this situation so well.
How exhaustive to have to repeat yourself soooo much an apologize sooo much! It was an honest misdirection...an sooo volatile being on your horse 🐎....you were amazingly polite..I would have asked you in for a cup of tea instead 😊❤
Farouk looks tres elegant in his attire. Not sure if the spelling is correct. lol! Being rude and defensive never settles anything. You handled it well, Tara. You did nothing wrong. I would have been rattled by that man. Farouk was excellent!
At least she made an effort to soften the encounter: "Come another time." You were respectful, as is your nature. You went as best as you could, by the official ordnance map. Unfortunately, you encountered a farmer who wants to circumvent his responsibilities regarding access. A small sign, in a counter-intuitive location, seems intentionally obstructive. Hope you don't encounter another stinker for a long time.
Well handled, there are nasty people....they just have to be right all the time....You were absolutely correct handling this situation...He should take lessons from your cordial confrontation....Faroukles was ever a gentleman and protector...💓
You were very polite considering the harsh words you got from that angry chap, beautiful horse by the way! I have loved horses all my life & have just subscribed to you, will enjoy following!
If you had a herd of cows that broke out and caused huge stress and worry because of a similar so called little mistake you may understand a little better why a farmer gets angry with strangers riding around their fields when they don’t have rights of way on them…..
Wow you were so apologetic and honest to of made a mistake and you did no harm , really strange for people to over act this way on one rider it’s not like a blood hound club rampaged through the fields! Imagine that the ol fella would have a heart attack! Well done Tara you handle that so well! 👌
Oh ek Tara, that wasn't nice at all 😕 You and Farouk handled it very well. Interesting when you said "I'm sorry if I've upset you" but they never said the same back 🤔 I think this shows for definite who the better person was! I would think your legs were like jelly after that, so I'm MEGA impressed you managed to get back up in the saddle! 😀.....I would have had to walk all the way home 😂 You are a strong lady 💪 and this ridiculously over reactive, grumpy chap, is but a blip on one single day of your life. He's wrong. You're right. Fact. 😍
More like he deliberately took the bridleway signs away so that people would get lost/decide not to try the route or not use a map? No doubt the gates were difficult to open as well. You are totally right - a diversion is usually well sign posted. Farmers do it all the time. My husband always prints off a map when we explore bridleways. Well done for keeping your cool. Xx
How upsetting! I guess they weren't worried about upsetting you or the horse! Well thankful they behaved a bit better when they were face to face with you. No cause for the upset really, and yelling. I cannot imagine an adult male telling me I was lying! You did well to stand your ground and pull out your map! Thank God you trained Farouk to stand, I'm sure he was upset with the tensions. Good that this type is far and few between, your country has a wonderful tradition (unlike the USA) of having open ways for horse and riders. Well, good on you figuring out how to get back up in the saddle! Thank you Tara for sharing this with us! What an adventure!
Well that got my Irish up! Tara you put that grouchy man in his place without him even knowing it. He probably would have enjoyed a fight but you acted rationally and calmly which is very difficult to do when your seated on a horse and a stranger loses his mind about where you have ridden. It’s a wonder Farouk stayed so calm with the atmosphere of anger and tenseness that old grouch was displaying. Because of that alone it was a very smart move to dismount Farouk and keep control of him. When we see the odd rider accidently on our land, we just leave them be and let them pass. So much land, there's no need to get nasty about it.
Fr unless there riding all over ur crops
You handled it so well. Showing the map and of course making your apologies is always good! Very good all around, but so surprising to have people so confrontational.
I know where this is and I am going to take my quad bike and plough those fields up
@@ianarmstrong9594 Yeah that's probably not a wise decision. I understand your frustration, but it doesn't solve anything and is just an asshole move.
@@VibingMeike Exactly.
@@ianarmstrong9594 We know who you are then,
let’s hope you never get hungry !
@@mistyqqq shut it and make me a bacon and egg butty missus
Oh dear at least you held your own Tara. His wife was so sweet which helped the situation. Glad you managed to get back on Farouk he was such a good boy and he sensed you were upset bless him. I’m sure you’ll get through that gate.Enjoy the rest of your ride and breathe easy.tfs😎
That man wasn’t very nice.He could handle it differently.Thank goodness his wife was there. Can’t wait to see what happens next.🏇🏼❤️👍
Tara, you handled that situation very well. I can't believe how rude he was!! You didn't do it on purpose.
Thanks, Katie Nelson.
Well done for standing your ground, keeping to the facts and not letting him shout you down Tara 👏👏
😊
Agree
For goodness sake you can see she is panicking and meant no harm?! Just be nice!!!
You are so gracious. He was so ungracious. !
Farouk is really happy riding he really does like it alot pretty HILLS FAROUK IS DOING A GREAT JOB TARA FAROUK IS LISTENING TO YOU REALLY WELL FAROUK IS A GOURGEOUS HORSE
👍
Well, it was a beautiful hack, angry farmer notwithstanding (having an "off" day, was he?)!
He must be fun at parties.
😂😂
Yeah....SCROOGE comes to mind😡
What a silly rude man. You handled that perfectly; very gracious and assertive when you needed to be.
How would you feel if someone you didn’t know rode across your garden if there wasn’t a right of way through it?
Well done for keeping ur cool, after being shouted at x hope u enjoyed the rest of ur ride x
Farmer Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrhhhhhhh horse wit Red ears .......the deviiiiiiiiil 🦄
😂
I used to be a Warden in the Lake District. We decided to walk all the paths and do an audit of signage. Amazing how out of the way some of the signs were; or missing; or downright wrong.
Tara so sorry that the farmer upset you so. I thought you handled it very well. And good boy Farouk for standing still so your mum could get back on!! Wonder why the bridleway wasn't marked better?
? Devil's Advocate: Maybe the old codger removed the signpost on purpose to confuse riders...keep in mind, the entrance to HIS property was not marked either!
yes I think he did remove the signs
Poor you Tara there was no need to shout at you it's a good job his wife was there maybe she will get the sign put up properly and tell her husband not to be so rude , well done to you for handling this situation so well.
How exhaustive to have to repeat yourself soooo much an apologize sooo much! It was an honest misdirection...an sooo volatile being on your horse 🐎....you were amazingly polite..I would have asked you in for a cup of tea instead 😊❤
😁
Good point…”A small sign in a counter-intuitive location….”
Listen to him and then walk away without a word.
Well handled, there are nasty people....they just have to be right all the time....You were absolutely correct handling this situation...He should take lessons from your cordial confrontation....Faroukles was ever a gentleman and protector...💓
Tara you handled that well 😁
I wonder if he is perfect and has never made a mistake or gone wrong. What an arse.
😂😊😂 yep
Agree
That farmer should have given you a leg up Tara !
he wouldn't have been in a state to give anyone a leg up if I had been there lol
It is the Council's responsibility to signpost bridleways. Problem is at this time of year that paths get overgrown if not used much.
You were very polite considering the harsh words you got from that angry chap, beautiful horse by the way! I have loved horses all my life & have just subscribed to you, will enjoy following!
you are so welcome to our little channel 😊
That would have been scary, thank goodness the wife came out.
English are so polite. Even your horse. Such a pleasant slice of life.
Can’t understand why he had a problem. You made a little mistake. Not a train smash🥰🥰
If you had a herd of cows that broke out and caused huge stress and worry because of a similar so called little mistake you may understand a little better why a farmer gets angry with strangers riding around their fields when they don’t have rights of way on them…..
One very hot headed male ….. pfft well done Tara Farouk was so good and patient
Tara!!!
Love his red bunny ears!!!
😂😂😂😂
oh wow i am so sorry you had to deal with that. he could of been nicer how rude.
Wow you were so apologetic and honest to of made a mistake and you did no harm , really strange for people to over act this way on one rider it’s not like a blood hound club rampaged through the fields! Imagine that the ol fella would have a heart attack! Well done Tara you handle that so well! 👌
U argue so sweet .. nice job
One of the Fruits of Spirit is self control, something more people should strive for, as you and his wife displayed.
🤎🐴🥰
Well said, Janae Anne! 👍👍👍👍👍🙋♀️💕💕💕
Well done tara a faro ok not a nice situation to be in esp beibg shouted at poor faro ok little ears were back tgey pick up on everything but very well done for standing your ground xx
Only a tiny sign. You'd think he would donate a sign saying"go left" or at least "wrong way" LOL
signs are free from the parks department
If this happened where I’m from, they will stop you to have coffee lol
😁
