Am i the only one that enjoyed that .. Yall some fuckin girls lmao wow
heada$$ Nah I loved it. I could watch it over n over again. That was the illest shit ive seen in a basketball game.
Jay Murthy This the kinda shit players always talk about. I bet even the Piston team mates would agree with Ron on the shit they have to go through with the fans and crowds. I hear Charles Barkley and others talk about it all the time. That's why later on in the playoffs Rasheed Wallace was laughing with on of the Pacer players. I think it was Jermaine O'neal.
"The owner of the Detroit Pistons blames me for the incident, saying that the fan wouldn't have been able to throw that cup at me if I hadn't been laying on the table"
Ron was so in the right. People just think they can treat athletes like shit, but it's not even just that in this case. Just like Ron said, words are one thing, this dude cold threw a drink at another man, just because he was beating his team. Just goes to show basketball fans won't ever appreciate that they're closer to the action than in any other sport, they'll only see it as a means to interfere...
John Professionals don’t react the way Ron did. He also assaulted the wrong fan. Let police do their job
John Ron artist attacked a 100 pound white dude that didn’t even throw the cup. He was not right he’s a fucking punk.
@@patrickd5274 well that guy did make a bet with John Green (the actual guy) and was cheering when the cup landed perfectly on Ron so he totally deserved it
He also broke Mark Boyle’s, pacers play by play radio announcer, back in 5 places jumping over the announcers table
RON ARTEST SPEAKS THE TRUTH!!! IF IT WASNT FOR BEN WALLACE, THE BRAWL NEVER WOODVE HAPPENED!!! RON ARTEST, STEPHEN JACKSON, & JERMAINE ONEAL ALL ON 1 TEAM, DUNT FUCK WIT THE INDIANA PACERS!!!
LilPrince Killa Ron made a great defensive play. He used a moderate foul to stop the play and send a poor free throw shooter to the line. Ben should not have reacted that way
Webster Thomas TRUE DAT LIL PRINCE!!!
I love this guy. I can relate to him in some ways
"I lay on the bench in my neighborhood and nobody throws cups of beerat me" haha
If I remember correctly, he was suspended the rest of the season. That sort of pisses me off considering the fans were the ones who started it. He should of been suspended but only like 5 or 10 games. wtf those fans was a bunch of punks that night and I feel like the players took most of the fall for it. I bet u not one damn fan even got arrested in that
+KING GWAUPPO BMV A few fans did get arrested. If this went to court and Ron told a judge, "This guy threw a bar cup at me, and so I ran over punced him, but I punched the wrong guy, than the whole place exploded" who is the judge going to side with?
plus those fans aren't allowed to attend an NBA game ever again.
KING GWAUPPO BMV think about it the fans are the one paying to watch the game so the NBA commissioner at the time made that decision to keep fans happy it's all about the money 5 to 10 games suspension would have been more fair in Europe if a fan disrespects a player the fan gets arrested
My dad likes to tell me the story about when he was a young man in the 70's, when he was at a Pistons home game against the Milwaukee Bucks back when they had Lew Alcindor. Detroit had a white player who fell into the stands under the basket during play, and this old black man with a cane hit him as hard as he could with the cane multiple times. This was a display of prejudice by the black fan. The white player did not retaliate.
I'm not trying to make a point about black/white issues here. I'm only saying that to me, Ron Artest sounds like a big baby in this interview. Oh, the fan started it, boo who. Be a man about it, don't be giving all these excuses.
KING GWAUPPO BMV lmfao! Detroit vs everybody!
Are you serious. Ben Wallace would fuck him up. Ron knew it.
this guy is hilarious.....he deserves his own reality show
this was the greatets fight of all time remember it like it was yesterday
@DrewisBallerrr i've seen the video, and I think he woulda fought under different circumstances. The Pacers were well on their way to a pretty big win, and Wallace overreacted to a foul. Artest was in no way at all heated, why would he wanna fight?
Now you watch this video, he said himself if it was handled differently, he probably owulda fought Wallace, but the refs acted quick, and he was still thinking basketball. It's different when a fan throws something at you, way different
he got scared of ben, but he wouldnt say that SINCE HES A GUY FROM THE HOOD
"people know what they should and shouldn't do" ..coming from ron artest that is hilarious
Ron Artest took something small like beer in the eye, and made it a huge brawl. He beat up the wrong person and messed up the whole game. He lost himself and his teammates involved a lot of money. This is also why the NBA stopped associating with hip hop as much after this. the game would have gone on, and he shoulda used that aggression on the court.
i wuz goin for the celtics but i wuz happy to see ron artest get a ring he comes from humble beginnings
"U think we will get in trouble"
If I was ron I did the same even step on people on my way to him cause in the game they call him ouy of his name....they had it coming
Bad boy pistons
you deserve the best comment award. he said "unfortunately" because the extra syllable sounded better
I like the chill beats in the background.
Was he high when he was interviewed?
he's not exactly the world's greatest logician, is he?
He's right. ...we are gangsta :)
ThePistons4lif
Nope
ThePistons4life u guys are pussies
no, you're drunk
ThePistons4life gansta artest is a chicken gay cannot fight ben wallace
This is such a well thought out interview.....made some great points....NOT what a joke
I love how he doesn't take any responsibility for it. Lol, Metta is the man.
you lay on a bench in your neighborhood? aren't you a millionaire?
When ur playing basketball outside there usually is a bench close to the court... use ur fuckin head dip shit
he didn't say he was playing basketball when he mentioned that he lays on benches in his neighborhood. he makes it sound like he just lays on random benches
nucky thompson well mabye he does, who cares. mabye he likes it wtf is up with people going so hard on a few words Jesus.
nucky thompson Saya the one shot by a kid
He's from queensbridge, ny and still goes back to play ball there. He use to pop up on Mobb Deep dvds back in the day.
This is a prime example of a person who lacks maturity, lacks intelligence, and is prone to violent, criminal behaviors. The people who spend their entire lives in and out of prison have one big thing in common, they never take responsibility for their actions. It's always someone else's fault. A guy robs a gas station and shoots the man behind the register will say he should have given him the money faster. Ron Artest blames the fan, blames security, blames Wallace, and the entire city of Detroit... Blames everyone except Ron Artest. He is lucky he has talent and can play in the NBA to keep him off the streets, otherwise he'd be nothing, spending most of his life behind bars.
Hingle McCringleberry Oh whatever you douche. If someone throws a beer at your face, you have the right to fight them. Ben Wallace overreacted when he pushed him, the fan was WAY out of line for throwing the beer at him, and Detroit is a ghetto ass city. His excuses are legitimate. Surely Ron shouldn't have fought the fan since he is a paid entertainer, but I don't really blame him.

Hingle McCringleberry its sad when a reply to your comment gets over two times more likes than your comment
Ron artest real as fuck
"The old saying is sticks and stones may break my bones but words may never hurt me. And uh, you can just apply that beer, sticks and stones and, y'know, so I had to, I had to attack the sticks and stone thrower. But the guy who was sayin the words is like, you can talk all day but there's a line, people know that. People know what they should and shouldn't do."
-Ron Artest
Im an old school Pistons fan since the Bad Boys era- i like Metta World Peace lol- that was quite the heroic deed in 2004 lol
He said it in the video. He was not looking to get ejected and was waiting for Big Ben to get ejected. Had he known that the refs were not going to eject Ben then he would have just fought back. Regardless of what everyone might say about him he was trying to do the right thing and let the officials handle it.
I love his comment about laying on the table. Love his logic.
im glad that someone finally snapped at the fans. fans definately cross the line sometimes, and they shouldnt. the player is human. and not many people are gonna take continous abuse without reacting and defend themselves.. if this was the olden days, there would be a gunfight
i remember watching the game as a kid and i was just surprised with the outcome
I Feel In Love With That Game Lol
Nobody really thought about how i could have got beer in my eyes or a cut in my eyes... SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP. I wanna give this guy a TUNE SANDWICH just for opening his mouth. This guy is still talking. The funniest shit is he agreed to do this interview
It's pride, Ron aint gonna let anyone score on him no matter what it takes
That was the definition I provided you with above. Please try again!
ron ron is my hero man. he keeps it real. he's human like all of us.
he's now a champion don't worry about the past anymore
"you can just apply that beer as sticks and stones, and so you know...i had ta, i had to attack the sticks and stone thrower" LMFAOO
Dude broke Mark Boyle’s back in 5 places jumping over the announcers table. His own radio announcer. Let that sink in
He'd be a hell of an athlete if he didn't have that temper but I didn't right him off as a bad guy after this situation it was him constantly getting into the fights after this situation is what made me think of him as a bad guy like bro your making millions and you still choose to have a temper like that c'mon now Ron.
the thing is that like 5 people were holding Ron back, if no one was holding Ron, omg that would have been O-V-E-R
I passed Ron Artest lying on a bench in LA the other day.
sarcasm is in the delivery, not in the words
I lay on the bench in my neighborhood and nobody throws beer or rocks at me - epic
Keep spittin dat truth ron artest you were in the right to walk away and laying all peacefull-like on the scorers table in detroit. You HANDLED yo business artest
"I shoulda' got a pass on that one...." Are you kidding me?? Charging into the stands and inciting the biggest fan/player brawl in NBA history?? What a criminal.
Ron Artest would knock the fuck out of everybody on this post that talks down about him.
In case you didn't notice, I was responding to a guy who made a comment on this video concerning Trayvon Martin. Maybe you should talk to HIM about it.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, but when the sticks and stones do come out it on!!!!!!
This may very well be the greatest speech ever
@44joints finally someone who gives a decent comeback. i respect that
idk how he keeps a straight face sayin all this..almost like he's serious about what he's saying
He is World Peace in 2011 he was named Ron Artest
"I lay on benches in my neighborhood and people don't throw beer at me." Hilarious.
I am happy dude is geting help
Something being thrown into your face is not menial, the lawyer that charged him even said that it constituted a criminal assault.
He didn't attack the fan who threw the cup at him, the fan who did throw it was punching artest in the back of the head as he was attacking the wrong fan.
All I remember is fans clearing out and Ron Artest going after a pre-pubescent kid wearing glasses.
"I could have gotten a little cut in my eye"....damn!
Thumbs up for Ron Artest receiving the NBA citizenship award. :)
"I always lay on tables."
-Ron Artest.
[Your argument is invalid]
Two years before the brawl, Detroit center Ben Wallace had won the Defensive Player of the Year Award, 2 years in a row. Then, Ron Artest won the award and Wallace was very jealous. Wallace is a punk who started the whole incident because of his jealousy and he couldn't take a hard foul by Artest. That Pacer team was just plain sick. They clearly would have won the NBA title that year as they destroyed the Pistons that night.
Malice at the Palace in 2004 involved Ron Artest.
I agree with you, and it all started with Ben Wallace overreacting to a little foul...
I don't always drink beer, but when I do I throw it at Ron Artest.
@yakchirscarlson i actually meant to put blow instead of play, i have no idea why i typed play. anyways, chief brody is a character in the movie Jaws. just a name.
this just shows you not to be cocky in detroit
all I hear is "Derp derp derp. Diddledy derp derp, i put a ball in a hoop for a living."
Living in Detroit for awhile i gotta agree with this comment. I could have swore Ron Artest himself said something about how auburn hills wasnt gangster and wasnt really in Detroit (i believe during his time spent when he just for some reason released a Rap album. I'm positive now, he was on one of the two hip hop stations on sirius. He was freestyling, which was horrible or hilarious depending on how you look at it. Im gonna say it was on rude jude's because i cant remember any other shows.
hes talking about how no one thought about him possibly getting injured by a cup of beer, when he didnt think of possibly injuring people with his fists.
lol i lay on the table in my hood and no one throws a beer at me
allowed not aloud. and yeah, he is a player on national television, it comes with responsibility. someone throws a drink at you, you dont start a brawl. you be the bigger man and walk away
from what im hearing hes not in the wrong not only was he verbally abused but he was also abused physically he had a right to stand up for himself. why should a fan be aloud to throw what ever they want at a player without having to deal with that player retaliating. you people think of these celebrities as perfect people who cant do anything over the top but hes just another person with emotions and feelings too.
He said Detroit is a gangsta arena 😂 That we are, born and raised. Deeeetroit Basketballllllll 💯❤️
I remember watching this game when it went down. It was just all wrong. The fan who threw the beer. Ron Artest's reaction. Ron Artest was just in a heated situation, the guy threw his beer, Artest saw red and went after him. He should have shrugged it off but it's hard sometimes. Especially with some of these guys with hard gangsta' mentalities. Like the Pacer that went in the stands and starting blasting people in the face surrounding Artest. Just a bad day.
He would’ve never gone into stands in any other situation is the fact that it was in a Heated moment that’s literally natural reactions especially if your really pissed off im sure everyone can relate..
fair point, its not realy the pacers style to go offensive
But then he ran after and tackled the kid next to the beer thrower, not the actual beer thrower but just some innocent kid...
And he knew the night that it happened that he went after the wrong person - but he has never mentioned "I unfortunately went after the wrong person & I'm sorry about that".
$50 says he never will say that truth either. 😢
Please where Can I find the original video of the fight??
I don't blame him for going in the stands. Some group of fans at any game think that they can do anything to the athletes just because it is so many of them. Plus the guy that threw the bottle was drunk anyway so he probably would have thrown the bottle even if he wasn't lying on the table. It probably hurt too. But I bet you nobody will throw anything at this man again.
"I had to attack uhh... the sticks and stones thrower."
Eloquently Put
"I had to attack the sticks and the stones thrower..." Words of wisdom from Metta World Peace!
I hope a fight breaks out between the Cavs fans and Lebron when him and the heat make there first visit to Cleveland in 2010-2011 season.
I love how nobody condems Ron about what happened. We all understood what happened, he was disrespected and he took care of business. Go Artest.
When you're up almost 20 with under a minute left and you foul that hard, you should probably expect a reaction like that.
Couldnt agree more. We all don't want to react how Artest did, im sure he (looking back) wish he didnt. its out of my natural character to be violent, start fights or hold grudges. But shit if someone starts something with me or my friends that triggers something in me that is very hard to control. And i love how you put it, "you dont throw beer at a grown ass man and run away like a pussy". If people cant agree with that then im not gonna see eye to eye with them on anything.
ron artest is a legend 8)
THIS GUY IS MY FUCKING IDLE HE PUTS ON THE HEADSET WHEN HE WAS ON THAT BENCH AND WAS JUST TALKING TO SUM RANDOM GUY
We are lucky to have Ron Artest teach us values and respect. 😂
come to queens and ask him that.
Ron was ready for a one on one , Ron the real deal.
Here's the thing: Ron's from the hood so he's not gonna let anybody fuck with him. But damn, he's just chillin on the bench and somebody throws beer at him? That's fucked up. I would of just stood on the bench and yelled at him to avoid getting in trouble. But, Ron's from the hood so he did what he would do back at the hood. If you from the ghetto, the ghetto mentality stays with you forever.
Ron knocked his ass back sober. THIS BUDS FOR YOU!!!! I BET HIS ASS WON'T THROW BEER AGAIN!
@Tazzarinaa probably, but dont forget where Artest comes from too. He's defenitely been in his share of fights, and probably would give Wallace a good fight. Remember Wallace is only 2 inches taller than him
I didnt know he got beer thrown at him i thought he just went crazy. Ive always been a fan of his actually but that actually changes my perspective on that whole incident ha.
What Ron did was disrespectful. Ben committed a foul on Artest and accidentally got him on the head. Artest then warned Wallace that he was gonna retaliate by purposely doing the same thing, and he did. It doesn't take 4 eyes to see what Artest did when he committed the foul. He purposely hit Wallace in the back of the head.
I'm not calling it a flagrent or anything, but the left forearm swing to Ben's head was unnecessary. He could've easily fouled without using his left hand. Artest was obviously trying to retaliate.
Yeah, those fans were extremely disgraceful towards the Pacers. Especially when the Pacers were trying to get in the tunnel. Uncalled for.
