    This was a great instruction of beautiful northern lights, and your two different foregrounds and stars really made it special. Thanks

    Thanks Shelly , I think it was a great lesson once in a lifetime for me !! Just loved and photographed our first ever northern lights in Idaho . Had to miss my usual bedtime routine, but so worth it ..

    I missed the online lesson as I was in a workshop with the famous Australian watercolour artist Herman Pekel

    Good point on perspective. I would not have thought to do that. It adds drama to the view😊

    Rainbow occurs when white lights refracted. Each color has a different wavelength, so bends at a different angles. Red bends least, violet most. Aurora is interaction of solar particles with Earth 's magnetic field.

    Where did you get your palate? I like that style and organization. I am fascinated watching you bring the auroras to life! Stunning!

      Thanks. Unfortunately my color wheel palette is discontinued. It's quite like the Stephen Quiller and Meeden palettes though.

      @@shelleypriorfineart Thanks for your reply. It's frustrating when good items are discontinued. I found a similar palette, but it's plastic. It's from Robax Engineering.

    @SueL…Lindsay Weirich (the frugal crafter on RUclips) has commented that lately sometimes if a product is not a Legacy brand, whether it is paint, paper, or brushes etc. the product starts out fantastic, but the manufacturing quality diminishes over time. The quality controls aren’t as rigidly maintained…or the paint, paper or brush company is sold and someone else makes it…cutting corners- with the result being an inferior product! Sad, but … 😮😢

      What is a Legacy brand?

    • @jenneke2
      @jenneke2 6 месяцев назад +1

      @SueL The legacy brands are the tried and true brands that have been around a long time and are trusted eg. Paints like M Graham, schminke, Winsor&Newton,DaVinci, sennelier, Qor etc. Paper includes Arches, Fabriano etc. And brushes include Rosemary &Co., Princeton, Escoda, and many more…Plus, if you don’t, they’re more apt to replace them if you contact the customer service. Don’t get me wrong-you can have wonderful experiences with non legacy materials…like Shelley has had with her purchase of Biaelk!

      Update : the brushes were all stiff again today so I rinsed them again. Practiced some graduated washes with the largest brush. It held a lot of paint and water. ✅

    Cobalt Blue ..? Is n't that a granulating ?....Would that be beneficial here using with Payne's grey?

    • @shelleypriorfineart
      @shelleypriorfineart  6 месяцев назад

      I'm using DaVinci Cobalt which doesn't seem to have a strong granulation.
