We must treat our elders better than this, in every country. This is not just Russia or Eastern Europe. Everywhere the old people are neglected, there is grief and chaos. We need them, we need to hear their stories. We need them in our lives for their sake and for ours. And we owe them a good life after working so hard for so long. We wouldn't be here without them. And who can imagine that in a few years *this* could be our fate? No. We have to take care of those who came before us. Some of our aunts and uncles and grandparents are so used to neglect they refuse help and keep trying to do everything by themselves. What would have happened to Grandmother and Grandfather if no one had stopped to help them?

I grew up in a rural area of the US and we definitely didn’t have anything any better. Our healthcare was a rotating doctor that would come every month or so and in a few cases were perverts or predators, and we did not have grocery store in our town except a very small one which was very expensive, there were many poor people and we also struggled a lot growing up there in the 1980’s. We were always hungry. Rampant capitalism at a level that ceases to care about people is just as bad.. the US continues to have this problem, which is why rural areas continue to be neglected

Sergei, what you are giving these people you help is kindness and hope, which is needed everywhere in the world, but especially in Russia. When I was working for orphanages for 8 years in Russia, one day my assistant and translator did not have car for the day, so we took the city bus to two villages. On the bus on our way to the 2nd orphanage, someone saw something hanging from a tree in the distance, so the bus stopped and we ran to help. There we found an eight year old girl hanging by the neck from a tree, nearly dead, but we took her to bring to the hospital in the next city after reviving her. There was no way to call for help, so the bus was the only way to get her to the hospital. There was one more stop and the driver stopped quickly and a younger couple got on the bus. As they walked down the aisle, the little girl saw them and said 'Mommy and Papa, you said it wouldn't hurt'. We all gasped and the young couple started to weep and said there was no hope. They didn't drink alcohol, but the Mother was dying of cancer and the Dad was disabled. They lost their home, had no money, and no one to help them. The girl was treated and placed in an orphanage after spending time in the hospital. The parents were arrested, and we don't know what happened to them. They are obviously guilty, but had fell into such a depression because there was no 'Hope'. It's really bad when there is not 'hope' for yourself, but these people had no hope for their child either. Thank you for bringing hope to people living this hard life in Russia.

Everywhere in east Europe is the same. People left in villages are either old or mentally ill, so nobody who wants to improve doesn’t want to live there. That’s when village hospitals are closing, no stores, no nothing. Soon only abandoned traces of the past

In the US too. Rare if anybody would help you in the US. I know from my own experience. Just a couple months ago, I was walking with my backpack along a busy street in Houston Texas. Because of my age I guess, I lost my balance and had a hard fall, hitting my head on the sidewalk, breaking my glasses, with blood streaming into my eyes. I was on the ground at least 15 minutes before I could get the strength to get back up with my heavy backpack. Dozens and dozens of cars had gone by on the street as I lie there. Not a single person called out to see if I needed help. The poor are hated in the US, especially in Texas.

Outside of Democrat cities, people will stop to help those in need.
Even in Texas. Houston, like Austin, is a Democrat-voting area with self-centered people.

    • @RishayanPorMexico

@@bchooper5603 Yes, I can believe that. I have crossed Texas many times in rural areas, and to be fair, I did find some really nice people, even some sheriffs that gave me long rides. But in Houston, and to a lesser extent in San Antonio, the people, in general, are the absolute pits. Like you said, they are very self centered.
