    You're daughter and son have a special talent for finding relics of the past just like their father. What a amazing bunker complex! Somewhere has to be a floor plan for all the different types of bunkers. That made it through the war.

    Seeing old war relics like these always makes me wonder how many soldiers who served there are even still alive today. I would imagine there are some old timers around who would rather forget that place than reminisce about being there.

    I'm not sure if German engineering regulations were similar to the American ones, but typically when we build coastal defense or base/camp defense positions, we don't put ignitable heat sources (i.e. bunker stoves) into ammunition storage areas. Not that it doesn't happen, but when it does happen, people lose rank or worse. 🤣

    In getting a cheap metal detector. I was told by a guy who is in a club to buy a cheap one for my first one in case it isn't something that I want to do so o don't waist $300 on o good entrance level detector. I'm also going to get a 500 magnet for magnet fishing. I can't metal detect at the old Camp Grant because of unexploded ordinance. There is nothing about magnet fishing the river that the rifle range was at. They shoot across the river plus I can dig the backstop of the range. There are thousands of pounds of spent bullets that I can melt down and use to cast bullets. I can sell the jackets at the recycling center to pay for my powder.and primers. My ammunition doesn't cost me a thing to shoot. I can also but tin from them to help in the casting process. Thanks for the great video.

      Bigger behind the trigger
      Hi. It’s not always a good idea to buy cheap just to try anything really. . It’s the same in most things. I sell Cycles. You buy a cheap one to try before you see if you like the sport. It feels bad, feels cheap and is not so reliable. 2 or 3 rides you think “crap”, this ain’t for me. If you buy a cheap detector it can be really annoying and could put you off straight away. I have known people who did this exactly. Buy something good secondhand you can resell without losing too much. Or a mid priced one. You won’t regret it but I am sure as in most things cheapest is not usually any good. Especially with something electronic. Just a thought. Good luck in your quest. Regards from uk.
      Ps. 300 dollars!? Sorry just re read your message. That should really be a minimum. I’m guessing as I don’t live in USA But here that would be maybe £200. Here you can get detectors for £100-£120 and they are more like a toy, good for a kid to have a bit of fun with. Don’t risk missing out on an excellent hobby and pastime Buddy. Get something reasonable. You won’t regret your decision. 👍👍👍👍

    • @biggerbehindthetrigger2814
      @biggerbehindthetrigger2814 6 лет назад +1

      @@francisjohnification you are right. I could buy a used one from someone who isn't into it like they thought they would. I'm sure I can find a good used one for close to the price of a new cheap unit. Thanks for the advice. I'm sure the cheap ones only go down about 10 centimeters and don't give a good signal when I could get a good used one that can go deeper and give good signals. You get what you pay for. I bet I would miss a lot of things with a cheap detector. Plus I would look like a idiot to the seasoned detectors. There is a local club that I bet someone has one that they upgraded from that is still a good detector. You have a great day and thanks for the advice. I'm going to start a second channel for metal detecting and magnet fishing. I know the river that the rifle range used to shoot across has some gems in it. There is no rules in magnet fishing. Now I'm super charged to do this.

    • @francisjohnification
      @francisjohnification 6 лет назад +1

      @@biggerbehindthetrigger2814
      Dont forget. Magnet fishing..... You are limited to only ferrous metal (ie steel) you will find non ferrous parts (aluminium/aluminum, copper, brass, lead, etc) ONLY if they are connected to this. Metal detector,......if its made of ANY type of metal. You will find it. Its not so much the depth that makes cheap detectors 'bad' but the way they respond and recover after detecting. Some of them just squeal, whine and make an unholy bloody continual racket that is hard to decipher and THIS is what puts most people off.

      @@francisjohnification I'm looking forward to doing it. It's something that I have wanted to do for a long time. My great grandfather lived in Florida. After every storm treasures would wash up on shore. My grandfather found a gold box that had Ruby's and diamonds in it. Just walking around on the beach. He made a lot of money from it. After my grandmother passed away he took all there money. He gave my mom $85,009 dollars and kept half a million. I was supposed to get my great grandfathers Footlocker from WW1. I an the oldest great grandson and he wanted me to have it. He was the first officer on a few U-boats. It had his uniforms and his Luger and holster and his medals and my uncle kept them. He put in his will that I got the foot locker and the contents. He said they sold it with the house. My cousin said he had it. My cousin passed away in a motorcycle accident. Now I have no proof that he has it. It's just sad that he has to be like that and he is a born again Christian. Yea right.

    I need your help. can you link me some ambiant music that really gets the ambiance of ww2 right? not the ambiance of battles, but the ambiance of the waiting. for example, a lone german soldier sits in the cold weather in his little watchtower in the forest, just waiting while his comrades are far away. thank you ^^

    Hi HH , wonder if this position
    Was over run by the allies or just
    deserted by the Germans
    Cheers

      @ Terry Grossman - funny comment i guess you`ve never seen the tails before ? it`s common to see women with fox & horse tails clipped on belt loop. i even seen pig and tiger tails its funny and a trend so wheres the harm in it lol

    Will you be allowed to dig this site? That last dirt bank looked very promising. First time I have seen old radio tubes come out of the ground in decent condition. Also was wondering, are the bunkers considered property of the land owners? Or do they belong to some type of public trust or remain government property? I have been wondering how this all works considering the quantity of structures spread across several countries.

    I wanted to ask if you get permission from the land owner or are most of the sites open land?

    It’s intersting how durable this things are cosidering their age. My house is built in 70s and it isn’t that “time proof”
