- Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five are synonymous with the birth of hip hop.
Flash was the group's mastermind, and in the late 1970s, the group's performances in New York public parks and nightclubs helped give hip hop its identity.
He chronicles his life and career in the book, "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash: My Life, My Beats."
In this video excerpt, he explains how he first became curious about the mechanics of sound and how his pioneering nature led him to revolutionize the DJ scene.

Rest in Peace to my friend and former neighbor, Robert Keith Wiggins aka Keith COWBOY. And to GrandMaster Flash-thanks for bringing us the beats that made the phenom that has traveled around the world.
Flash has the curiosity of a scientist. Interested in every detail of his craft. He’s an important piece of DNA to Hip-Hop and it wouldn’t be what it is without him.
That story kinda reminds me of the 1 my uncle told me from when he was a kid. He use to take stuff apart and put it back together. He took my grandma’s vaporizer apart and put it back together with pieces left over and it still worked lol.
The perfect DJ bedtime story.
of course like so many hip hop dj's now he is definitely one of my insirations .. thanks for sharing
