Afrika Bambaataa made his first appearance on campus as a visiting scholar Wednesday, talking about the origins of hip hop. In this clip, he talks about the origins of the phrase "Hip Hop" and the principles of the Universal Zulu Nation, the international hip hop awareness group he founded.

Not true. Bamm just got done saying it started with Keith Cowboy & Love Bug Starsky. Cowboy was first to say it in his stage performance. He was teasing a friend about to join the army. "Gonna be doin' that Hip,Hop,Hip, Hop, Don't Stop, Don't Stop..." Starsky then also used it on stage. Bamm was the one who took it and decided to make it the term to define the entire culture.
