Good question. For this tactic, a swivel isn't necessary. With this tactic, the heavy #9 Jigging Rap is typically fished pretty fast to get the fish to react, so there is little time for line twist to catch up with the bait and start spinning. And even when Cody doesn't pause the bait, there's usually enough depth that, when coupled with the weight of the bait, makes the lure spin very delayed and rare (unlike ice fishing). That said, an appropriately-sized snap swivel certainly doesn't hurt and has the benefit of fast lure swaps without retying. Playing with different colors and sizes can make a difference.
This guy knows what his doing, thanks for the video.
Agree. We've learned a lot from Cody and he keeps sharing new nuggets whenever we connect for a new filming session.
Cody makes it hard to want to fish local derbs I can tell ya that for a fact lol 😆
Very good video. Thanks for the details and the excellent job of sharing your screen. Well done.
Glad it was helpful!
That was cool Cody! Loved the 2D towards the end. Great tutorial buddy.
I’m just starting to utilize the lure great video 😊
Just bought 10 of these on ebay for 4.80 each. Can't wait to try them out.
Great Video
Thanks!
Nice vid , thanks !
What kind of setting do you use in deep water like that? Love the videos. Thanks
Jigging rap has to be one of the best multi species baits. You can catch walleye, bass, perch, crappie etc.
Without question!
This past summer I got a number of splake on them as well.
@@MrHarryson1985 that’s cool! Where did you catch them?
Do you get alot of line twist? Would a snap swivel help or a barrel swivel on a leader?

Not a livescoper yet, should work with 2d also?
Never mind… watched the rest & saw I could.
Right on. All experienced deep-water practitioners got their start with 2D, so it's still very useful and relevant. Thanks for watching and good luck!
No ice. No Winter!
