Dr. Steve Turley was rocking it there in the beginning. Just gained a whole lot more respect for a man I already highly respected.
His PhD is in Music from Durham University in the UK,
And here he is: ruclips.net/video/XapB2FJumJQ/видео.html
Watch the whole thing and get blown away... on the 700 Club.
@Amber B
I’m with on Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Hendrix and Prince Roger Nelson.. If you haven’t heard Prince’s finale to While my Guitar gently weeps, at the 2004 Hall of Fame induction of George Harrison, you’ve got too, it’s a must.. Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, along with George’s young son (strumming the acoustic) start the song.. About half way through, Prince emerges to the front, and just steals the show.
It’s fun to watch George Harrison’s son, just smiling big, enjoying what Prince is doing.
Great entertainment 😃
...nah, it ain't even close, Alexandr Misko is the best guitar player in the world...
It's good to see you giving an example of having a break from all the bad news and politics. Music heals the soul.
The wild thing is regular people, they are very supportive of the arts. They give their time, money, and love.
Most people are regular people. It is the Billionaire elites that have a twig up their butt and want to ruin our lives.
Billionares funded common core, but did not fund the arts. Let that sink in!
jesus heals the soul !
Steve, with your in-depth analysis, I truly believe you were a master guitarist 🎸

@annacolleen wesson etters Wow. Just watched his 700 club video. I can see him retaining that talent. To think I just followed him for his “talks”!
I'm a left handed guitar player
Check out a few of my videos on my channel if you like
You have so many skills dr. Turley you are a gift from the heavens for us normal humble humans
I believe that Dr Steve is still on RUclips playing the Classical Guitar.
This chap is excellent.
I’m glad for something on a lighter note. I know there’s much out there we need to know but this is nice to give us a break and know there’s still creativity and beauty out there as well.

Playing guitar is about style and what sounds good to each individual
I've seen too many incredible guitarists that I can emphatically state that there is no "best" guitarist.
We need to see more of your guitar talents, Steve!
That is well put. RUclips has them all available. Regards.
When I was a child, I saw Chet Atkins play “The Stars and Stripes Forever” on a guitar. I never forgot it.
When I was young, playing on my Marshall amp, my dad always called me chet atkins. To this day, I've never heard him play. Guess I'll u tube him.
He was one of the greats for sure
I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE DOC'S POSITIVE OUTLOOK, WISDOM, & YOUTHFULNESS..... just what the Doc ordered.
My mother was a classical guitarist and played in a seminar with Andre Segovia. I was blessed with the ability to see him twice in concert. What a gift he has left the world with. There’s a wonderful documentary on his life and the beginnings of his role in creating a classical guitar repertoire that was previously unavailable. I saw your 700 club video six or seven years ago and each time I see your right hand I’m reminded of where you’re true talents lie. ❤😂
He was OK-you’re better. The fact that he was playing at the Kennedy School at Harvard must, to some, make him “the best.” They have such an inflated opinion of themselves...
I fully agree!
I would have to agree!! Based on Dr Turley’s short performance, That fella has a long way to go!!
I really appreciated your commentary . His audience enjoyed him he enjoyed performing. What else matters?
He's NOT the 'World's Greatest Guitar Player', not by a LONG shot. It was probably his 4 eyed girlfriend who made his video. 🤣🤣🤣
You outclassed him with just a few notes. Good video
He’s a very good Spanish style player. I honestly don’t care much for that style, but his style is very good. You can tell that he put a lot of time in his practice.
@Humanism Is A Cult How do you know he isn't Spanish? He may identify as Spanish even if he's Irish!!!!
@@Pneuma40 🤣🤣
Depends on what technique and style you learn, no player learns it all, be interesting to see him on a electronic doing bends, muting and the different technique that comes with it... probably can do it well, but probably many that can do it better
@@Pneuma40 touche wokeness and PC are B.S. it's like saying you can't play the banjo, unless you're African, or you can't play the mandolin unless you're Italian or you can't play Mozart unless you're German what a stupid ideology wokeness and PC is.
How about doing a critique of Eric Clapton, or another one you may have heard not as famous you may have, how about John Michael Talbot he's a very fine guitarist and musician.
Roy Clark, if it has strings he could play it.
Roy Clark was for sure the best of all time, Chet Atkins said it and Eric Clapton said it, and if they said it ,you know it's true.
@@gldsmith61 don't forget that Glen Campbell rated him as well
@@jpcoll2011 I did not know that , but Glenn was one of the great's too.
Now we’re talking’! This is my “wheelhouse,” and I already knew Dr. Turley is an accomplished guitarist. I’m a semi-retired bassist, and truly envy talent such as this!
Wow that’s why I’ve always loved Persian people
This was one of the most enjoyable views I have ever had with you Dr. T! I, too, am a professional musician (Orchestra Director and Band Director), and love to watch things like this with critiques going on. No question, sir, you know what you are talking about, and hearing your musical intellect, along with your crisp and precise political commentary always makes my day!
Just when I thought I couldn't have more respect for Dr. Turley he plays in the beginning and blows us away.
Dr.Steve: He’s indeed impressive . No not the best in humble opinion. Ask someone like Rick Beato. He knows the odd thing about great guitarists.
Now to you : seen brief clips of you playing. And your little riff here. Wow! Play more!
Maybe you need your own jingle every time you start at TT video! I am waiting for your own classical piece entitled “LETS GO B………”
Beato is great!
This guy's listenable, that's all, and good enough. He is the greatest according to someone, maybe a classmate who posted it. I'm favoring Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass lately, speaking for myself.
@@charleyphillips4326 yes!
Rick is indeed a great guitar player but, Dr, Steve is a FAR better classical player. There’s a HUGE DIFFERENCE!
Love his What Makes This Song Great series. Been subbed to him for years now.
Another wonderful classical player here on youtube is Sam Griffin. If you like video game music or just really beautiful guitar playing he's definitely worth a watch (and sub)
Come on, admit it, everyone was more blown away by Dr Steve's playing.
I've seen Paco De Lucia in the early 90's with his "sextet"! One of the top 5 shows I've seen! Thanks for showing us your guitar playing Dr.Steve . 😊🙏🇺🇲

Thank you Dr. Steve for your explain. As someone who loves the guitar, but cannot play, you certainly removed the confusion.
Once he got going it sounded like a Clint Eastwood western flick.
Delightful! Guitarist was entertaining as was our man, Dr. Steve Turley!!! Yes, I would appreciate a peppering of this kind of classical enlightenment.
Check out Marcin. Kid is 20 years old and is Amazing. Was a finalists 2 years ago on America's Got Talent. His video covering Kashmir by Led Zeppelin is incredible 👏
Also take a look at Alip Bata.

I'm impressed with your guitar playing.
As I used to say: I'm the best guitar player in my own living room!
We're all legends in our minds. 😉
Dr Steve, one of my sons is an EXTREMELY gifted guitar player too, my son literally plays outside of a Starbucks in SoCal. Don’t be fooled though, he’s not homeless, has a job, AND attends university. It’s an incredibly easy way for him to make extra money, and the Starbucks employees don’t mind. I wasn’t crazy about it at first either, but he’s coming by tips honestly, so what am I going to say, he’s of age🤷🏻♀️
Lol, Im in at one right now at SoCal. Wonder what city hes playing at👍
There’s a lot to be thankful for in that he’s doing something he loves, making a little $ and creating light in an otherwise dark world. You should be proud that you had him trained and gave him such an awesome gift.
I would be very proud of him and I'm sure the people walking by know he is young, talented and going places!
God bless you and your son it truly is a gift to have such talent. May he and others enjoy it for many decades to come my friend
@@randomvintagefilm273 Thanks so much. To be perfectly honest, at first I thought it was “ panhandling “ in the regular sense, but I drove by one day to see for myself, and it was the complete opposite from what I was envisioning.
WOW! Steve please play more! So amazing! Mad respect! You are such a great guitarist!
My favorite is Randy Rhoads
I love when there is a bit of creative humor during the performance of any music.
I personally feel that the late Eddy VanHalen was a fantastic guitar player
THANKS Steve for sharing your skill with the Guitar...I am impressed....bravo.
I’ve seen some of your guitar playing prowess Steve, you were damn good!
YES!! A music reaction vid!! I remember watching Dr. Steve shred on his video. Beautiful! Classical guitar is timeless
Dr. Steve, who is the best guitar player in your opinion?
In the 80's I visited a friend in Granada, Spain, who took me to a concert of Andres Segovia--he said the best guitar player in the world. At that time my guitar icon was Jimmy Hendrix with his showy breaking of the guitar on the stage, and I was pretty skeptic to go to a concert of somebody I had never heard about.
At that concert, an old man barely walking came on the stage a half an hour late. One servant was helped him to sit down on a chair. I noticed his thick fingers hanging like sausages in a Spanish deli. Another servant was handling him a guitar. At that time I was pretty angry at my friend for waisting my time for some grandpa music. However, when he started to play, he blew me away. I never again heard such great music in my life.
I have only heard recordings of Segovia. I was and still am impressed.
Dr. Steve you are a very talented and remarkable man. 👍
There is technical ability and there is feel, playing in the moment. That being said I'll take Stevie Ray Vaughan any day.
Now your talking!
There are MANY, MANY great guitarists around, Eddie Van Halen WAS a master at guitar, but Steve Vai, George Lynch, John Sykes, and a WHOLE SLEW of others would make this kid sound like a 2 year old plucking on a plastic guitar on his blankee.
Dr. Steve. You should have a segment where YOU PLAY FOR YOUR AUDIENCE!!!! Now that would be something special. Please consider it. Multi talented. That’s GOD given.❤️🔥🎸🎶
Roy Clark was the goat. Because he didn't just play guitar, he played almost every stringed instrument there was. And each as great as the other. Even EvH acknowledged Roy as the goat.
What the hell does that mean?
"The goat"? 🧐
@@glenturney4750 You've never heard that? Greatest of all Time,

Wow Steve, just Wow, what a player. You are.
Considering the different types of guitar guitar, different variations of tho types, and genres of music involving some some version of a guitar, how does one determine who THE best guitarist would be? I would imagine there would be several caveats to such an assertion. I could be and probably AM wrong, but it is a curiosity.
Bingo! This is why I have a hard time coming up with a Best of really, any artist.
@@busterbrown_shoes Yep. Imagine what Baroque era artists would have thought of Andy Warhol or what Classical composers would think of Bob Dylan.
Dr. Steve you are still excellent, one of the best I ever seen.
You’re right, nowhere near the best, but entertaining. Check out Tommy Emanuel.
Quite possibly the best, unknown guitarist I've seen today.
I'd venture to say that someone like Mark Knopfler might disagree with his claim to the throne.
Or Stevie Ray Vaughn, if he was still here with us. Stevie IS the G.O.A.T.
My all-time fave guitarist is Jeff Carlisi, formerly of .38 Special.
I’ve been a session player for decades. So many genres, so many good players.
Knopfler, Gilmour, Howe, Emanuel, Hackett, SRV, Jimi, Gibbons, DiMeola, DeLucia…….the list goes on

Pretty special. My favorite guitar player is Tommy Emmanuel & his late Brother Phil. Just You Tube "Phil & Tommy Emmanuel Playlist." & enjoy. One example: "Sultans of Swing by Tommy Emmanuel & Pedro Gonzalez." Best rendition you'll ever see.
Tommy’s a beast!
Dr. Steve! Had no idea that you had the talent up your sleeve! I believe you were/are better.
I'll have to vote for Roy Clark. Hillbillies all over the Appalachia Mtn's are pretty doggone good!
I agree for the most part but Glen Campbell was phenomenal ...Eddie Van halen once asked Alice Cooper to ask Glen if he would give him lessons
Yes, a friend from W Virginia once told me that the reason so many good guitarists come out of the sticks so to speak Is because there is nothing else to do but play guitar.
That was fun to watch, thank you Dr. Steve!
But can he play Smoke On The Water or Stairway To Heaven?
Maybe if he turned the guitar around... 😬
I like to hear Dr Steve speak about music and guitar playing, it’s a nice change.
Don’t know if there is such a thing as “the best in the world “ there’s a novice and a professional level but “best” is up for debate.
I really enjoyed listening to this guitarist! 👍👍
I have used every one of the techniques he used and I am at best a middling guitarist. He's not bad but nothing even close to the best. Pretty standard Flamenco style work. I don't think it is possible to pick the best guitarist. I think that the electric guitar is the most important instrument in history so far (Yes I know that is probably sacrilege) and I think Stevie Ray Vaughn is the best rock/blues electric guitarist I have ever heard but I would never say he is the best guitarist. Too many other greats out there.
There is something about a live performance of a acoustic guitar that electric cannot get close to.
Hear the best musicians play in a live performance in a room is something very unique.
@@bighands69 Yes I agree. But In the bigger picture I think the electric guitar has come to dominate music. I used to love going to listen to great Classical guitarists...would happily still do so, but it's a small market if you are honest. Electric guitar is easily the most forgiving version of the instrument, whether that's for god or bad, (I played classical and acoustic steel string as well as electric) and what you can do with a good electric guitar can't be duplicated except possibly by electronic keyboards of some type. Keep in mind that electric guitar is still basically your standard guitar. I mean you can play it without amplification (won't sound great but the technique is basically the same).
Has no one heard of Eric Clapton? After scrolling through a couplel hundred comments, I am blown away that no one even mentions him. He's always been considered the greatest guitar player along with Phil Keagy and Jimi Hendrix. Yes, Eddie VH and Mark Knopfler are great too, but they are not Eric Clapton. Guess you gotta be a boomer to remember the best music.
@@nancyweaver4042 of course people have heard of Eric Clapton. Personally I used to favor Jimi Hendrix as the best. It's just an opinion. If you think Clapton is the best I get it. He certainly is in the running and a good choice to land on.
I love how you are doing these react videos
I'd love to see you break down the techniques of Leo Kotke on a 12-string, playing Vaseline Machine Gun. He was one of the best, I feel... Especially on 12-strings, which are just really intimidating in the first place.
Leo Kotke is great!
@@charleyphillips4326 For sure, he's just amazing
Wow, Dr Turley, you are a skillful guitarist ! Surprisingly, you play so well ! And Thank you for all your brilliant political comments. You are the best !
There is no "best" guitarist. Only vexations of what mood one is into as the listener/player - one day Hendrix next day Jimmy Page another day SRV...talent with all stringed instruments another, and even then improvement is always welcome - to claim best is the end of the book, which is endless and will be passed up by the next
There is ..
Marcin ....the best guitarist in the world !
I like the 3 examples you picked.
You the MAN MR. TURLEY
He's obviously very good but I didn't hear anything out of him that I haven't heard in some like form from Phil Keaggy over the years.
I'd like to see the full video of your younger self. I was enjoying it immensely.
He's okay, but I have seen some really good guitarists using many techniques.
Marcin Patrzałek for one and some others. But, this young man is certainly an entertainer.
Agree... He can play but he's not even the best flamenco player. I actually think Dr. Turley is a better player.
I simply LOVE LOVE _LOVE_ The Gipsy Kings!
The "best" also has to be able to play with their TEETH to separate themselves from the thousands of extraordinary guitarists around the world...and seen on YT.
As well as with the guitar on top of his head and behind his back!
