      Yes, the park is located perfectly for exploring Santa Barbara, Solvang, and the surrounding area. We haven't been to Los Olivos yet, but will check it out next time we're through.

      We couldn't believe it! For being so close to Santa Barbara, we thought it would be a hot spot for travelers in the winter.

      This was site 416 and we loved it. We recently stayed further down that road on 478(we think?) And it was equally as beautiful.

    Good evening, i hope all is well with you. I have a question, Can you use charcoal on the fire pit to cook meals?

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  7 месяцев назад

      Hi, that's a great question! We sadly don't have an answer for you , though. It would be best to contact the park directly to ask their management team.

    Just curious, their campsite pictures look like they don't have classing fire pit rings anymore, but some kind of concrete fire grill. Was that the case when you were there recently?

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  Год назад +1

      We had a regular campfire ring at our site, and noticed the big concrete grills at the group sites. Hope this helps.

    It would be helpful to know when you were there. It looks like summer time but what month of the year?

      We were there at the end of February/beginning of March. The weather was perfect 🌞

    What camp site number would you recommend for someone that’s going to camp in a Tent , and with a view of the river. Thank you

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! Great question. They have a number of premium tent sites that all have a view of the lake. This website shares the campground map so you can plan your booking: www.troutderby.org/getting-here/ Sites 230, 2031, 233, 234, as well as 397, 399, and 401 all look like good bets.
      Happy camping!

    I'm scared to take my cat camping. I am afraid he will run off and get eaten. How do you train your cat to stick around the site and not stray?

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  2 года назад

      Really great question! Benny is on a leash and harness when he goes out or between enclosures (trailer, truck, or playpen).
      For a while we wouldn't take him out of the trailer in new sites so that he got used to it and associated it as his safe space and home.
      It's also to our advantage that he is a bit of a chicken and doesn't like to stray very far from the trailer even on a leash.

    I'm not so sure about a yurt... lol I'd rather have the camper, eh?

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  2 года назад

      Yeah I'm not sure the yurts had their own bathrooms because there were porta potties right across from them in the parking lot.
