Welcome to Home A Roam!
We are documenting our transition from a traditional 9-5 lifestyle to one of freedom and the ability to choose our own adventure. We’ve quit our jobs, downsized our home, bought an RV, and then the pandemic hit. We patiently waited to hit the road on a grand adventure with our adventure cat, Benny.
And then, off we went! Across Canada and back. All over British Columbia. Snowbirding in California and Arizona. Spending the winter in Baja California and Baja California Sur.
Where will we go next? Please join us by subscribing to this channel.
And remember: Keep on living the life you've imagined! :-)

What's inside the Hoover Dam? RV camping in Las Vegas
RV to Vegas and get a behind the scenes look at the Hoover Dam. We found a different side of Sin City to explore. Yes, we checked out the strip, but we also found some nice hiking, a great campground, and tasty eats off the strip. Our journey to and inside the Hoover Dam was definitely a highlight and worth checking out.

Servicing Our Rig & Truck On The Road
Просмотров 911День назад
Maintenance on our rig can’t always wait until we are home in Canada. While in Tucson we got some repairs done to the trailer and truck before the final 3,100 km home. New tires, and brakes for the truck, and a new kitchen faucet for the trailer. See where we got good prices for all this work. We also had time to relax and enjoy our boondocking campsite at Las Cienegas National Conservation Are...
Visit Tucson - Free camping + What to see and eat

We found free camping near Tucson, AZ at Las Cienegas National Conservation Area on a first come, first serve basis. This area is just a 60 minute drive south of the city of Tucson and a few minutes east of Sonoita, AZ. It allowed us to visit Tucson to enjoy the famous food scene, get up close and personal with tropical butterflies, and meetup with some friends. #HomeARoam #visittucson #rvlife ...
Franklin Mountains State Park, El Paso | Hiking & Camping

We visited Franklin Mountains State Park in El Paso Texas for a few days to camp with our travel trailer and to go hiking. Franklin Mountains State Park is close to the city of El Paso making it very easy to visit the city, too. The small campground is ideal for small rigs and tents for dry camping only. #HomeARoam #texasstateparks #travel VIDEOS BY EMAIL: eepurl.com/hw3KDv SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: ...

Our travel days leaving Texas were far from boring. We found a Prada in the middle of nowhere, tried a new restaurant, and stayed at a couple of more state parks. We went back to South Padre Island to give it one more chance after nearly being blown away on the beach a few before. It also gave us the chance to go see the SpaceX Starbase preparing for the third launch of the world’s largest rocket. Now we can say that we’ve been there, done that, got the t-shirt. #HomeARoam #snowbirds #texas VIDEOS BY EMAIL: eepurl.com/hw3KDv SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: Website: ...

Thank you for the detailed process! I will try out these steps and see if I can get my heater working again. Again Thank You!
Good evening, i hope all is well with you. I have a question, Can you use charcoal on the fire pit to cook meals?
I’m from RGV I’m like 1 one hour away from south padre island🏖️
Just a fantastic story telling and the scenery fabulous!! Oh wow the dam !! Heights same here , weak knees !, as always enjoy your channel. As always BS & BK & BC !!!
Thanks Larry! Yeah being on top of the dam, looking downstream was definitely a spine tingling moment.
The only reason i came to prince George is for the mountain biking and possible hiking. Which you totally overlooked.
Reasons for us to go back 🙏 Thanks for letting us know there is more to see and do
Cool video. We grew up in so cal and went there often. It's been a long time for us. Always a fun place.
We had a great time discovering a few places in the area and off the strip. There's so much to do here!
Can’t wait for Othello to re open!
Us too! We read recently that part of it will reopen this summer!
Have a safe and wonderful trip back home.
Thanks 🙏 Hard to believe it's almost over!
Followed. Y’all are so cute!
Welcome to our channel and thanks for the kind comment 😊
Happy Birthday Mel 🎉 looks like a great Birthday in Vagas
Thanks! It was! Had a great time, so many steps!
Great video. Lots of walking! Enjoy Death Valley.
SO much walking, we earned that giant mozzarella stick!
Blue Man!! The point of it takes a bit to work out, but it eventually reveals itself over the course of it. Also, keep away from the edge.
The folks in the splash zone were given ponchos to protect their clothes! Lots of spray coming off that stage at times. So fun.
@@HomeARoam You had your ear plugs in, right?
Hi guy's, great video and I liked the outtakes. Hope you get your Starlink up and going soon. Safe travels. Cheers
Hi Maurice, thanks! Thankfully Starlink replaced some parts and were up and running again. 🙏
Love it❤. Great music Jay.
Thanks! Have you tried any of the AI music creation programs? Been trying out a few and it's fun to see what it comes up with.
Hey guys we just visited Jasper and went up Whistlers summit based on your recommendation. So glad we brought our crampons as you suggested they were key. We are on a cross Canada road trip for the first time in our new travel trailer and our 5 yr old. We have been watching your channel for a few years and making notes on all the things to learn about living on the road. Keep making great videos!
Hi! Thank you so much for commenting and letting us know the information in our video helped you out. 🙏 We love hearing this kind of feedback. Hope you have an amazing cross country trip! We haven't been to the East Coast yet, but it's on our list!
We just found your channel and love your video! We have subscribed!
Thanks for subbing and taking time to comment. We hope you enjoy our Texas series and more!
Just getting ready to tackle redoing the back cushions on our dinette that looks like hour’s. That you fit the video, my disappointment is that you really didn’t walk through how many pieces and how you measured etc those dang corner pieces! I was thinking about just covering the original material. Thanks.
Hi, sorry you didn't find all the info you were looking for. For doing the corner pieces, my recommendation would be to take apart an existing cover to use as a template for each piece. I tried tracing the shape and adding 5/8" for seam allowance and that messed up the curves and I had to redo them, wasting expensive fabric in the process.
If you have power in your basement, put the router in there and run the cables through door seal. much easier.
That definitely works too!
WE LOVE Cachuma Lake!!!! matter of fact, I believe you are in our beloved spot ...lol The mark-up on the gas/propane and the store products are marked up at least 3 fold
That was a fantastic spot! In fact, we went again since this video and stayed in nearly the same site.
Just pay ten dollars by weekends start from Friday at noon on Sunday is very cheap from others places where pay over 45 dollars per night so pismo beach is cold but very cheap I love this place 😬😁
Yes, some of the private campgrounds in the area are double and triple the cost of camping on the beach or in the state park.
Portable solar panels for Rv trailer
Portable panels are a great way to top up your battery, especially if you're not able to or don't want to install permanent ones on your roof.
I live in the Rio Grande Valley and honestly the beach here is horrible with WIND. You’ll have salty sand in your vehicle and RV for the rest of their lives LOL. No No for me LOL.
We learned that lesson the hard way 😀
Air down to 12-15 psi in all tires and dint air up until you are back on a hard surface. That should help greatly in the future.
Thanks for the tip! We didn't realize we could air down that much.
Discount Tires are awesome. They are also known as America’s Tire in some areas. Shout out to their store in Bakersfield, CA.
We were so happy with the service. They even had a welcome sign with our name on it at the bay they wanted us to park in front of.
The sweet spot is 15/20psi
Lesson learned. Thanks for sharing!
Hi guy's, it's been a while, but i have been watching. The hummingbird sanctuary looked amazing. Glad to see that your trip is going well. Great video and thank you for sharing, safe travels!
Hi! Nice to see your comment. Yeah, we could have sat and watched the bird all afternoon. They are just so darn cute!
I’m not far from you guys in Burnaby. But if I ever need tires I will go to Discount Tire in Bellingham. I’ve had a couple really awesome customer service experiences there and as you mentioned the price I better.
Glad to hear there is one close to the border if we ever need new tires again!
Who was that young couple doing the van versus trailer video? You two have fun at every stop, and seemingly a teat at every opportunity. LOL
We love our treats! 😋
Always interesting even tires ! I love when you two find something delicious, it’s so nice to see !! Taps quick fix I see! Beautiful sky ! Vegas Baby lol !! Sunsets beautiful!! As always BS & BK & BC !!! Vegas baby Vegas !!! 🎉
Viva Las Vegas! 🎰🎰🎰
Hey! What cameras are you using? Great quality!
We use a few different ones- GoPro Hero 9 Black, and DJI action cam for the most part, though.
3:14 my guess is it's some variety of stink bug.
We have recently learned that these are called Western conifer seed bugs. They are often mistook for stink bugs because they also release a smell, but they are different.
I switched to All Weather last year before driving west to east in Canada. Love them. Perfect for the rain on the east coast, and snow-rated for the winter. After years of switching from All Season to Snow Tires twice a year, I will never switch back.
I drive the Fraser Canyon several times a week….all seasons will not cut it! You must have snow tires!
Totally agree! They're the BEST tires we've ever had. Before the truck we had a little car that came with all-season tires and we felt like we were hydroplaning when we got up to speed on the highways in the rain. We made the switch and haven't looked back feeling so much safer in wet conditions. Glad to hear you made the switch, too!
In the winter months all-season tires are not allowed on the highways East of Hope, BC. The All-weather tires we have are rated for snow and we love them.
Great video! As a birder, I especially loved the bird sanctuary.
It was so fun to watch those hummingbirds come to the feeders. Wish we could have gotten an even closer look at them. They move so fast!
I noticed you have blinds with strings. Our last RV had the same ones. Our cat destroyed many of them by chewing through the strings. They became useless at that point.
Oh no! Thankfully Benny hasn't noticed (or cared to notice) the strings.
@HomeARoam we travel with 3 cats and one rat terrier. Rocky, the male, is the only one that was obsessed with them cords. Pain in the arse! If you ever make it up to southern colorado let us know. I can help you out with some boondocking spots.
The night sky was gorgeous and the bread looked mouthwatering.
Quite possibly the best bread we've ever had. It was delicious!
Mountains are the Sacramentos the peak is Sierra Blanca.
Thanks for sharing!
I love SB and Cachuma Lake!
It's the best! Close to the amazing city of Santa Barbara, a bit of nature and lake time, and close to the quaint town of Solvang.
We enjoyed your video. We live in San Quintin so have been in most of these places. So sorry you did not get better directions to the volcanoes. After you climbed the volcano, you went to the wetlands to kayak. Where you put in your Kayak you were within two flat miles of the highway. Admittedly the road you took to get to the Humedales to Kayak is indeed rocky, but it is flat and much better equipped for travel with a trailer. That is a far simpler way to return to the main highway from Chorera. Sorry you needed to scale the sand dunes to return to the highway.
Thanks for the tip, we may have to try going that way if we make it back! The sand dune was a little hair raising, but we made it :-)
@@HomeARoam That was one fine job of driving up that sand dune. I have never had the nerve to pull a trailer up that hill.
Ocean lol
It's technically the ocean. 😁🌊
I am all for Police service but not this kind ...May 2024 Be very careful of several Calif State Park Rangers-Cop...Ranger K and Ranger B. E They love writing tickets for any reason because it means $$$$$ and more than double if you don't want to go to court they cover Oceano to Hearst Castle ...all I did was drive into the Morro Bay campground looking for a spot the Ranger B. E was cruising and watched me drive in the campground is open 24 hours just find a spot and pay at the Iron Ranger when booth is closed. He pulled up on me while I was driving so I pulled over he took my license and ran it for 15 mins then came back and handed me a ticket for non payment of camping fee for $93 Bucks..Camp fee is 35...If I don't go to the 4 month off court date watch their online video and call them for date it's $235 bucks.....so If your back home and don't want to come back because some idiot felt like writing a ticket for no reason it's 235 bucks at least....Ranger K and B.E need to be flying a non ticket writing desk in a back office in Bakersfield...
That's a pain. Sorry to hear you had that bad experience.
Where did you camp? Do you leave your stuff there and go to buy groceries or restaurant?
Hi! We found a spot on iOverlander just north of town. After meeting some of the other campers on the beach we felt comfortable enough to ask them to keep an eye on our rig while we ran to get groceries or to have lunch out. We did the same for them, which made it feel like a little community for the couple of days we were there. We also have security cameras and lights on our rig that we can check on remotely.
Just surfed onto your video! Drawn in, by Idaho and Baker City! Grew up in Boise, and have resided in Baker City for 19yrs. Looking forward to more videos!
We would love to explore Baker city more. Our quick stop was not enough. Thanks for watching!
Thanks folks!
Our pleasure! Hope you found something helpful in our video
Hi Guys, Just came across your video which has been a great help. We have our 5th wheel in a RV park here in Ontario where there is no cell service. The resort has over the last year install a tower and have invited two internet providers to provide a services although very expensive. Although it solves one concern it doesn't help when we travel. We are planning a trip into the states this year. We both have CDN, US and Mexico cell plans. After watching this and your other videos on the topic we feel comfort that StarLink will provide a solution for both travel and parked scenarios. Let us know if you have additional insight. Cheers and safe travels. Dave and Lorilei
Glad to hear! All I would add now is that Starlink's prices have gone up, and it doesn't work very well around trees and tall buildings. It needs clear line of sight to most of the sky to work well. So even if you have Starlink, you also want to have cell data service as a backup. Happy traveling! 📡
Please don't worry about missing anything in Idaho. The entire State went MAGA, so you were far better off driving straight through. From now on, I would plan the trip to go down I5 in Washington and Oregon instead. Fewer Hostiles!
Thanks for the advice. We'd driven I5 on multiple occasions and wanted to switch it up this season and go the most direct route we could to Texas.
To really know Boise, it’s pronounced Boy-See. NOT Boy-zee. There’s no Z in Boise. Or Boy and just say the letter C, Boy-C. BTW, Idaho is a very gun friendly state, probably the biggest in the whole country. I see pistols in holsters on people’s belts a lot.
Thanks for the correction on pronunciation. We do our best to get the names of places right, but obviously still say it wrong sometimes.
