7:05 Thanks for bringing this up. I'm a zoologist, I used to be a vet student but I couldn't handle how awful pet owners are. They don't listen to medical advice, they act like their animals are human babies and treat them as such to the animal's detriment, and they often discard them like trash, as is the case with easter bunnies and ducklings.
People buy these cute baby animals for their children to play with, then dump them in the street or at a local park without a care in the world for their well-being. The baby buns and ducklings then inevitably die slow, prolonged, and painful deaths to starvation, predation, and disease.
Animals aren't human. Nor are they disposable toys for our amusement. Why can't people get this through their heads?
"Smurfs as Tyrants"
Another things to add about Fantastic Planet and music:
There's this incredible 1996 album with the same title by the band "Failure".
The cover is inspired by the movie and the album itself is filled with drug fueled alternative rock/space rock, even a little grunge.
It's one of my favorite albums and a classic that a lot of other musicians value highly. (The intro from Slipknot's Vermillion is a direct copy of the intro from Failure's Solaris.)
No way I’ll check it out, the music is still stuck in my head months later, I remember watching a video a while back talking about how this movies soundtrack is sampled so much throughout music,
An interesting look into a 70's psychedelic animation movie. Thank You
Time for a live action reboot ?
I saw this at the ripe old age of 13 and was never the same.
This is one of my favorite films! I actually prefer the English dub over the subs. The actors do a really good job, especially given the era when dubs weren't exactly prioritized and often just done with randos who had no acting experience.
Totally agree about the dubbed version; they did a great job with the translation and voice acting. Makes the odd science parts a bit more vibrant as well, when you're hearing the strange words instead of having to read them.
The style of Fantastic Planets reminds me of the engraved artwork of the 1800>, when artists engraved on copper plates. Just look at those ink lines and the shading. The very same technique they used for American dollars and other currency. It is in fact very inspired by the Age of Enlightenment and the introspection these men were able to explore through art and philosophy.
I really love that movie, a product of the early 1800s and the 70s, two very similar times, a time when we still had scars from the wars, and artists still wanted to make people understand that we need a social evolution and not only a technological one, by questioning everything. Sadly we are forgetting the lessons of the greatest generation, and those before, as humans forget their lessons quickly, now more than ever as we are bombarded by meaningless ads and entertainment at all times. We are far too busy to think, and if one tries to voice these concerns, it's gonna get buried in the ever constant content spouting machine, the feed, as we live in the society that thinkers tried to warn about.
Shout out to this for inspiring pikmin
Great video, and youre...adorable, :). I watched this as a kid and I remember how disturbing it was with those creatures. Great explanation!
I feel there's some disparity in putting something like watership down with more "clean cut" 70s animation, although it and Fantastic planet aren't the only ones that break the 70s animation mold, you should see some of Ralph bakshi's stuff from that era...
9:06 so nobodys gonna talk about this? ☠️ /j
Idk I think he was just trying to be funny or something like that
Love the videos Mate, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much !
@@waterwaveybaby It’s like more Ordinary Things content. The editing is decent and the reviews are entertaining. Can’t wait for the next one! :D
i love this movie so much! anytime i cant sleep, i watch it and it helps me chill. another animated film you might like is The Triplettes of Belleville. it's a beautiful film. another one of my favorites is Jan Svankmajor's Alice. it's not animated, but i think you'd enjoy it :))
Clean cut and family friendly? Have you never seen Watership Down?
I choose to believe you were trolling us when you zoomed in on Watership Down while saying other animation from the 70s is "all very family friendly and light hearted".
I love how you say mostly family friendly and light hearted yet have watership down going past whilst saying that. That film gave me trauma 😂
Ahhhhhhhh omg I just came from your laustest doctor who Video and I remember when my mom showed this to me for the first time and was COMPLETELY thrown, I was legitimately like what the fuck is going on hahahah🎃
0:33 "It's all very family-friendly, and light-hearted." Bruh... Have you even _watched_ Watership Down? Or any of the other Ralph Bakshi films of that decade?
