- In November, the Okavango Blue Diamond was revealed to the public for the first time. Named after the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the diamond is extremely rare for its vibrant blue colour, weight of 20.46 carats and a near flawless clarity.
Beyond its appearance, the Okavango Blue Diamond is symbolic of Botswana's decades-long diamond industry and provides insight into the deep interior of the Earth.

Thank you for this! I felt like a little girl in a candy store watching this. I love Geology and I am fascinated by diamonds 😍🥰. P.s. I am African.
Beautiful stone. Somewhere deep down and currently out of human reach, many such amazing stones await.
And now imagine the human cost to get them. Not worth it. Grow them in a lab.
Diamonds are very fascinating from a geological perspective, not much fussed for them in my jewellery, but their formation is quite interesting. The pipes that bring them to the surface have to erupt at supersonic speeds to prevent them from retrograding into graphite.
Wow that’s amazing allotropic reactions at work
Okavango... what a beautiful name for an astonishingly beautiful part of the world. A treasure produces treasure.
Why was the audio recorded through a potato ?
Because whatever they said about earth secrets is just written by a potato
Remember all, this Boswana location is the place that paid for an advertisement to help save and sustain the environment. The hypocrisy.
Lovely story and, yes, it's nice to imagine a region of Africa that's *_not being raped for its resources._* Still appears to take a dreadful toll on the landscape. The stone is indeed gorgeous. But how, exactly, apart from its earlier proximity to the earth's mantle, does this stone reveal so-called secrets? That part was a bit thin.
'Prof Graham Pearson Diamonds Illuminate Deep Earth Processes' (have a look at this if so wish - takes about 30min) ruclips.net/video/5THuWkW5u6M/видео.html
@@homohandyperson Thank you! The link deposited me roughly halfway through but no matter. Easily remedied. The video is both fascinating and puts this one in a different light because *_there is no freaking way this can be summarized and blended into a short narrative!_* 😂
Yes , somehow , but is another way for the same old parasites to keep humanity in ignorance , we are the diamonds , looking outside for everything is their job , the cristals are a part of the storry they were as a result of alien weapons after destroiyng that gigantic empire were the vegetal kingdom was based on silicio , the high temperature did the gems , yes they hold information , like us , but the key is we are the central point on everything .

Background music..⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wow, its literally blue from the ocean. The ancient ocean! 🤩 Wow
I would like to know the details if perfectly ethical sustainable non exploitative method of mining, please.
I always study things I get involved with. It enhances creativity.
The true treasures of Botswana are on the surface and not under it. The Okavango Delta is best known to most of us for the natural habitat and incredible diversity and abundance of animal life. One herd of elephants roaming free is more valuable than a whole bag full of diamonds.
The most beautiful blue diamond 🥺💙
Zircon are far older than diamonds. The Earth is about 5 billion years old, diamonds are about 3 billion years old and zircons are about 4.5 billion years old.
Dude you really think scientists are actually that accurate when it comes to that far back ? Oh get a grip they can't even make up there minds when the pyramids we're made.
Ethical my ass.
It’s so beautiful. I love diamonds and blue is my favorite color. A blue diamond, how perfect is nature. Thank you ✝️
What a great story for Botswana, and perfect timing when the diamonds were discovered! I just hope the employees are paid right and profits shared. I think they should also give every employee one blue diamond a year, everyone from every aspect of the process.
A great idea but not "bloody likely"!!!!!
Love from Philippines 🇵🇭
Fascinating!! Thanks! Nicely done!
A bit of gushing, then a few pictures of Botswana and a few very light interviews. No substance at all. It is beautiful, it's rare, interesting and exciting. No explanation why it is blue or why it gives insights into the mantle.
Blue Diamond and Pink Diamond are most beautiful
Absolutely amazing! Very interesting indeed! Congratulations!
It's very beautiful that I feel like crying. I want to visit a museum full of this beautiful gems and minerals. George Harlow should be featured in WIRED to answer more of our questions about this wonderful diamonds and its relative history.
Fascinating stuff! Beautiful diamond….♥️👋🏼🇨🇦
The earth and landscaped looked pretty ravaged .
They should set it on a black background.
I Love Diamonds ❤i have many with me💙
Wow! What an incredible stone ~ the colour and clarity are amazing. Ladies, imagine wearing that on your finger ~~~~ Oh well, one can but dream!!! Sweet dreams tonight! Nature is just so wonderful. Thank you Lord for all this beauty You created.
I have a blue diamond engagement ring it's a beautiful gem and I adore watching it sparkle in the sunlight 😊 my husband did an amazing job picking it out
What a good breed of livestock.
Ohhhhh Awwwww How pretty...whats the secret..It doesn't belong to who has it💯
I loved this video because it didn't just focus on the beauty of the diamond but gave an insight into Why it is so important, beautiful, rare, how it was formed, and how much more it is worth to science than mere $ value to the people of Botswana. The idea that this incredible stone was created so deep inside our Earth and how long ago it is mind boggling.
A prime example of exploitation: Botswana is the world's second-largest producer of diamonds - but it's still one of the poorest countries in the world.
Not really, Botswanna is a middle income country.
same thought, i'm about to say the same but you already posted a comment lol
Well also diamonds aren't rare... They just control the influx so u think it's valuable
Botswana is doing well compared to other countries around the region.

We already know through tectonics that what is on the surface will eventually be under and vice versa. There should be no question what could be below the surface…
And probably extremely expensive
Wooow amazing 😁👍
love to have that in my jewelry collection.
Ah yes, diamond mining, a perfect example of ethical, sustainable, non-exploitative industry. Are you kidding. Who paid for this greenwashing piece?
Brilliant!
You couldn't have expressed it better!🙂👏
Totally
How much they paid you to lie. A entire mountain destroyed and that is called sustainable. Oaauu the value system is messed up
❤Thank you very much
fantastic .....
Right I Could. Turn Them From Nothing
❤Thunkyou very much news
Watching this is making me want to get the old crew together for one final job.
🤩I L.O.V.E diamonds ❤💞
Blue Blood Diamond
Dolph had blue diamonds 💎
The music shut it off
Infinity stone❤😊
Good glad Botswana invests in their people...... Norway did the same with North Sea Oil to improve life for all their people. What did the British Government do with their share of North Sea Oil? Sold it off cheaply and those companies are still 'profiting' from it today not the British people...................... Sooo wrong...............
BLOOD DIAMONDS, 15% of diamonds on the market are blood diamonds
Really? 15% that's it????
Try 95% and maybe you'll be closer, not quite there but closer.
Blue glass … I pay 10$ most …
🎄👍🎄
thank's
Hope Diamond 💎 or French Blue Diamond from Mughal India not compare of all Blue Diamonds.

That town did not really look like it was receiving the benefits they mentioned. I mean it’s not the squalor of the cobalt mines exploited for Tesla’s car batteries but it isn’t a China or Middle East boom town either. But it’s hard to see mutated children with stumpy limbs and additional fingers from the drone view. I always enjoy scientist explain away the benefits of interesting knowledge and necessary technology at the cost of human suffering. Science is an exceptional grift. It’s all proven until it’s not. Check the sponsors in the credits. That says it all.
The bigest diamond underground in the house it moved in explosives it is big
Let’s go guys fishing near volcano crater maybe we find a pink one.
Then lets sell whole network.
And its not even the rarest color. Orange, violet, red & purple diamonds are even rarer.
So stupid to run music during narration

Someday this stupid carbon stone will be worthless , just a regular stone. Idk why people buying diamonds. Total scam.

What's are bostwanas diamonds doing in United states
Rubbish audio and thick accents make this a very difficult video to enjoy....
I are worth millions. 1.46
I'm not a big fan of diamond snobs.
'sustainable' diamond mining?
"Sustainable diamonds"? 🤦 That's like renewable fossil fuels.
Click bait.
Y'all I got tons of blue diamonds in minecraft this is nothing special lol
Interesting but unfortunately not informative.
Looks like Minecraft diamonds are scientifically accurate "I knew that".
Old video I made when I started RUclips:

This video says and shows nothing.
Day 1 trying to get subscribers
It’s a stone from the ground, why we think they’re so significant is beyond me, absolutely stupid, especially because of the massive humans rights violations attributed to the mining of diamonds.
Useless gems 😂
Who is the one that said colored diamonds aren't worth much? Ha! Please
Nobody said that ever maan🤷♂️
