I agree with your sentiments regarding parting in a lathe. Volvo loaders are one of my favorite machines to operate. I have been in the L60, 70 and 90 E, and the L70 and 90 F. Nice machines to run for the most part, and durable.
@@perpetualmotion1 Since I have no functional coolant system on my lathe, I use WD-40 heavily during a parting cut. And slow the spindle way down. It would help if I had better tooling for parting.
As I watch this video. Which was extremely good by the way. I can't help but think what a shame that you can't have a apprentices , to help one. And to learn two. Because of our state of economics small business can not afford apprentices. No one wins in this situation. Great job nice work.
Sir, you do nice work. You have some nice equipment as well. I agree with you about parting off in a lathe, it seems like a variation of Russian roulette. I really enjoyed watching, and I hope you have a good one!
G’day when I have to drive those bushings in like you did I make a wooden plug to hold the shaft I’m driving stops it falling over and prevents any possibility of damage as well 🇦🇺
Thank you for the input, I'm trying to find a solution to that problem. I bought a wireless microphone but the stupid thing didn't work. Now I'm on the hunt for another one.
This is old school industrial mechanics 101. No school like old school ! Cheers bud.
Thank you sir, we are definitely relics from another era at this point.

I'm always holding my breath any time I have to use the parting tool. It has been a lot better since I added the flood cutting oil to the process.

I'm definitely planning on having apprentices, I've got two sons 😁

Glad you enjoyed it

Good idea, thank you for the input.
I run engine coolant with a strong mix no more rusting rusting
I've seen people do that in a cut off saw before, never thought about a lathe...
Looks like another homerun!
No liquid nitrogen?
I've never bothered with that, it's simply not necessary for this level of press fit. Nitrogen is a luxury not a necessity.
@@perpetualmotion1 just curious.
sound ranges from less than a whisper to blowing the neighbors windows out. can't watch these videos like this.

Try putting the audio in an editor and and normalize or add compression
Reaper audio is free
I can't remember if you have an exhaust fan or not. If not we should get one installed for you.
I do have one, but it's on the opposite end of the shop by the welding bench. I've been thinking of installing a second one over near the lathe.
