    1. Bird was just as good a shooter as Durant and brought in more rebounds and assists. He was a more complete player by far.
    2. Bird has more championships and did so legitimately, with no player on his team that was arguably as good as him.
    3. Bird wasn't a toxic personality.
Bird is arguably a top 5 player. I personally wonder if he's super underrated these days, and possibly the 2nd best.
I could easily make an argument for that.
Durant isn't even top 10. Is he even better than Karl Malone? Again, I could make a good argument for that.

In 20 years people will remember KD as much as they remember Drexler now. Won a chip with Hakeem, and KD will be - won two by joining Steph.
Not even top 25 for KD unless he wins a few more at the tail end of his career, while Bird is definitively top 10, perhaps 5, but that depends on criteria as his career was the shortest compared to other GOAT candidates. Still while it was short due to back injury, it was spectacular.
KD has a long and sad career, full of failure except for the period when he joined a winning team + the hubris that he thought he could do it alone.

  • @evifnoskcaj

Bird and Magic saved the NBA. The clowns in the media and kids on social media have no clue. Bird has more rings, and averagrd more assists, more rebounds, more steals, and was a better defender, especially because the NBA now plays these weak zone defenses with wide open shots, no hussle to get back on D, and no tight, full court, man to man defenses played anymore, except maybe when the game is close.
If they rated defense, most modern NBA defenses would an F rating. Practically no one respects the shot anymore and it's sad. People walk in and shoot uncontested layups on a regular basis, when in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s, people would have been obliterated for even trying to come into the paint.
The modern NBA is a combination of all of the worst parts of basketball: inflated stats, little to no defense, frequent rule violations, constant flopping, atrocious refereeing, blatant bias towards chosen players *cough* Lebron *cough* , constant lies and baseless opinions pushed in the media and on social media and falsely claimed to be factual, massive egos with few accolades, and zero respect for and knowledge of basketball history.
It's honestly hard to even call the NBA basketball anymore.

Bird led the league in defensive win shares 4 times and was 7 times in the top 5 in DWS. Bird in 1983 finished tied for 3rd place for the DPOY award. Bird was on 3 all defense teams (2nd team). Bird went to a 29 win team and was the main reason Boston won 61 games. Bird won ROY over Magic and was 4th in MVP. Then in the next 8 seasons ( before the heel surgeries and back issues) in the MVP was 2,2,2,1,1,1,3, and 2nd again. Durant has never had that dominant of a run. Look at Birds rebounding and passing. I would say beyond a shadow of a doubt that LARRY LEGEND is the better player. What I think gets really overlooked about Larry is the fact that he was an ALL WORLD playmaker, his court vision was next level. And, he was a phenomenal rebounder for a man who couldn't jump over a sheet of paper. And, I believe that if he played in this "LET ME BE THE THREE" era he would have the all time 3 point record and not Steph. Larry would feast in this era.
That said, if KD had the teams that Larry had in his career he would have about 4 championships right now...MINIMUM. You saw what he did with the Warriors and those Larry Bird Boston teams were as dominant as the Warriors in their time...only rivaled by the Lakers. KD is great but the DIFFERENCE is that Bird was a LEADER and KD is a phenomenal #2, he needs someone to lead...BIRD WASN'T BUILT LIKE THAT...HE WAS THE LEADER. Skillwise both are phenomenal elite all time legendary players but Bird had that little EXTRA that separates the two. Carry On...

And then he played with another mvp caliber player and future hof in irving and harden again. Now hes with another hof to be probably in booker. Gsw era speaks for itself. So no comment. I will never understand why people takes Gilbert Arenas seriously. I keep saying that unless you watched basketball in the 80's it makes no sense trying to engage with people who never saw Bird play because they just don't know so it's a lost cause. Bird made his teammates better and i will argue that he was by far the most feared clutch performer of his era and it's not even close. To the content creator of this channel i like and appreciate your content as it is always very well articulated and you always present facts to highlight your points, but i think you should refrain from responding to every piece of nonsense that presents itself as your brilliance only gives them relevance, great job as always though.

Gilbert's one to talk. He needs to call Bird up and _thank_ him for helping save the NBA back in the 80s. Without Bird, there would be no Bulls Dynasty, there would be no Lakers Resurgence in the 2000s. There certainly wouldn't be "King James" had the rest of these Me First, Team Never types that plague the NBA.

Notice how Gilbert zeroed in on the one Finals championship in which Bird didn’t get Finals MVP. Like nothing else mattered. You can’t say someone choked if they won the championship. That’s silly. What are the actual stories on drug use in the ‘80s for the NBA? Were there as many players on coke as there are players right now on PEDs? KD isn’t even the best player of his generation. So how can he be considered better than Bird? Cause you look at a piece of paper and his scoring averages are higher? Come on, man! KD never led any team to a chip. He’s not even an alpha. He’s 2nd-tier, at best. Bird was top-tier. End of discussion!

Gilbert Arenas loves to talk about how he doesn't like talking away things from other players when it comes to judging them in categories. However, it's exactly what stat man does every single time in his arguments against players that weren't chosen by him. This is why Rashad McCants went off on him. This is why Kenyon Martin went off on him. Arenas' takes sometime rival even the great Kendrick Perkins. It's that bad.

  • @robert-surcouf

Durant had Curry, Harden or Westbrook as teammates and needs to join a team which had already win before him and will win again after him.
Bird's best teammate was McHale, an all star player and borderline top 20 player.
Despite all of that, Bird has more MVP, nba titles, nba finals, same FMVP and far more courage and mental strengh.
nba media needs to sell Durant because he was supposed to be James rival but ultimately, he's just a top 25 player all time at best and will surely not clim the ladder.
