Bree has the prettiest face. I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to see you gently and calmly introduce your young horses to the world. To see them quietly learn your yes means yes and your no, no. To see them ' get it ' without fear and tumult. Oh how I appreciate YOU both for that❤
Had to put my two cents in about the winter hat you mentioned. I have a Canadian friend who informed me that they are called toques in the North. I’m from Oklahoma and we call them stocking caps. It’s interesting the different regional names we call things.
Here in Scotland we call them a Beenie.Don't ask why You cheered us up with your generous animals My Grandfather was a blacksmith so brings back many happy memories 😂
Happy to see another video again! You took a longer break than usual from posting a new video. I was already wondering if something serious happened after we heard Brenda had some injury! Happy to see all is well ❤
You guys are SO quiet, patient and consistent, When it comes to teaching your young horses... And That is just the way it Should Be. To Set Your Horses AND You-Up For Success!!! 😇
Jim and Brenda, In my early days we referred the winter hat as a stocking hat. .When your fencing in livestock , you need to expect the unexpected and re-act accordingly. . I really appreciate Jim showing the horses the perimeter of the fence line.
Skippy is certainly entertained by ice and coming from Colorado and Nebraska we always called those hats beanies and our grandmothers always knitted them for us as Christmas presents 🎁 😊❤
Another dreat video, Dad used to just love it when the horses got out, lol. Brenda my kids call them touques but when i was young we called them stocking hats
Since I live in the metro area of Dallas, TX, I am surprised at how quiet it is at Jim & Brenda's farm. The silence would be welcomed. The ability to see stars at night would be an awesome sight. Alas, God "planted" me here for His purposes and I "rejoice in the Lord". Notice the phrase "in the Lord" which means I don't continuously rejoice in circumstances; yet, I almost continuously rejoice in Him. (Philippians 4:4-8)
Brenda I agree with you totally tying bright material on the wires so the horses can see the wires. Thank you for another great video always enjoy them.
I have always found that short pieces of rags or plastic bags or duct tape tied onto the wire helps keep the horses from running through it. Also, the perimeter walk with each one individually, while time consuming, ends up saving time. Good luck.
Mom used to say horses don't see red. At least they will take notice of how nice and long the fabric tied to the wire fence is to learn the new perimeters. 🎀
In the UK, we used to call hats like yours, Brenda, woolly hats or, if they had a pompom on top, maybe bobble hats. Now, they're known as beanies. Toboggans, on the other hand, were wooden things you sat on to slide downhill on the snow! Hope your leg is getting better, Brenda. Still praying for you.
Words I have used to describe knitted caps worn in cold weather: toque, knit cap, watch cap, skull cap, stocking cap, ski cap depending on what activity I'll be doing. Togue or tobaggan if I'm thinking of my ancestors from Maine and Canada. Beautiful sunrise! Beautiful (but naughty) horses!
Good brisk and fresh morning what a great video, once agan,,, regarding your head gear we call it a toque, here in Canada lol,,great quick clip of the hunters. You and Jim and the animals also have a great day
We're in Rumford ME. We call the winter hat a winter hat.😊 There are lots of folks in our community who's relatives migrated from Canada early in the last century to work in the paper mill and we've always called them hats.
Hey Brenda, nice to see you doing well. I give you something to laugh: We call the winter hat a 'muetze' 😀 Funny word, isn't it? I really loved the light at the beginning of the video! I miss the sun. Here it has been gray and cloudy for weeks. First snow today ❄ Have a wonderful week you all! -Chris
Here in Australia that type of hat is called a beanie. I knit a lot and all my remnants go into beanies. Good pure wool beanies are hard to find commercially. Don't worry about Spooky June. Just means she is very switched on. These types make the best horses, for those who know what they are doing.
I'm from the UK, we have all sorts of names for various hats but the type of hat you have on today Brenda we call a Beanie, personally I favour a beret in the winter.......I'm sorry your leg is still injured, I hope you are not suffering too much.
WOW a breakout...we don't usually see this much of the rascals..yikes they were bad,,but maybe the deer torn down the fences. I can't believe how quiet Jim is , but we know he was mad... Brenda, we're praying for your leg dolly,,hope you'll be well for Thanksgiving... Abby, can cook..😊❤❤
I am originally from Northern IL. We called them "Stocking Caps/Stocking Hats." The full-face ones with just eye openings, or eye and mouth openings, we called "Face Masks."
Your way of desensitizing the young horses to new places can't be recommended enough. This will make it much easier in the future to get them to go anywhere.
I had a similar incident last night. I seeded an area and put up wire with some white posts. My horse seemed to respect it when I went inside. The goat however did not and it seems the horse followed then broke down the temporary fence along with some wire fence it was hooked to. So this morning before work was spent mending fences. #farm life

Happy to see another video again! You took a longer break than usual from posting a new video. I was already wondering if something serious happened after we heard Brenda had some injury! Happy to see all is well ❤
