Wow - just happened across this video...I raced this same course in September 1989 - same crappy surfaces as back then, just seems a lot faster now. Great video too - can't wait to see more of them!
Thats awesome! If you can believe it, I think it is the same guy (Robert Leibold from Velopromo) putting the race on. You guys had some cool courses back then! Thanks for checking out the video. We did Cat's Hill a few months back, you might want to have a look at that video also, I think its still the same course
Always amazed by how big and strong the American riders are in these criteriums, great footage. Did anyone one else spend the whole race counting how many rim brake bikes there were😂? SF looks beautiful, pity about that car crime.
Thanks! It is funny how big the average guy is. I remember when I first started watching cycling I was worried I would be too tall to be good (my dad is pretty tall). Turns out I'm probably smaller than the average guy in these races! Not many rim brakes left out there, it's sad how few manufactures even sell a rim brake bike.. And ya I think SF has a law that says cops can't do a car chase for theft, so these guys know they probably will never get caught. I took the train in to the city, it's better to not even chance it
1) hooray for another video! 2) really looking forward to your Progression to Cat 1 video! I can pretend that I am able to make that progression hahaha. 3) would've been great if you didn't get to the pit so quickly 😂. Sad that he made you go so quickly! 4) good end to the long season!
Ah you'll rise through the ranks quicker than you think! I have 4 pages of notes of things I want to talk about in the cat 5 to 1 video. And ya I wish I took a full free lap, I would have torqued my bars back into position. It's funny how in the video it doesnt look like I hit the guys bike that hard but it was a pretty good whack
I also don’t have to do or die attitude working in the operating room. I have cuts or scrapes I cannot work so not worth the risk of crashing for that $20 pair of socks. But stuck at cat 4 for 8 years giving up positions for safety. I do it because it’s just fun to do anyway. Plus now I’m able to race masters too
@@ChainlessTV haha yeah it looked like a love tap. Poor guy coming the other way on the sidewalk hahaha. He looked scared 😳. 4 pages of notes?! Please tell me it includes ominomnom! 🤣
@@p44doyle44 I get it. For me, it's not safety for work, it's safety so I can still do my fatherly duties fully haha. We shall see how much risk I am willing to take in races. And lastly, I am still in cat5 because it's almost always the earliest race in the day (8-9:00am start) and that's the only way I can participate consistently 😆. Gotta get home ASAP always
Yep I played it back a bunch of times and came to the same conclusion. It was always a little sketchy up the hill because the speed would slow and people would overlap wheels and stuff
thanks for the Celsius :)
You bet :)

Good result, and good show.
Thank you! It was a fun one
Congrats on the Cat 1 upgrade! Looking forward to hearing more about it.

This one looked lit!
We missed you out there! You would have liked those last 2 turns
It was lit by the sun. Fully, fully. 😂

I second that

That guy from your team bump into the other rider saving his balance but unfortunately making an rider crash. At the end of the day it’s bike racing.
