Guys a bit late for New Year resolutions but please 1. No more apologies for long videos 2. No more worrying about tangents 3. No more apologies for the long talking sections Cheers guys Loving every minute
You know, I really don't care what you are doing, there are no two guitarists on RUclips I want to watch more than you guys. Bless you, and never stop!
I absolutely love episodes like this where D&M talk through building rigs. Not the physical building, but the pedals selection, interactions between guitar and amp, all the things. So much to learn and take away. Thank you Leg-Ends! 🙏🏻
Guys do not apologize for the long vids. You go through a lot with timestamps and labels to make it easy to skip through if your crazy. But watching you make those decisions helps us understand and hone in our our gear and taste even more. It's high quality stuff, thanks for all you do. Loved that 345. Loved the final board
I came here to say the same thing! I love videos like this because it reminds me of things to look for as I’m building my rig, and t ones that may be great in the room, but would be problematic in a gig!
I don't quite grasp what you were apologizing for. This show, as far as I comprehend it, is all about finding the right tone, experimenting with gear. At times, you explain things; sometimes, you show things. Occasionally, you delve into exploration, and we get to watch. And sometimes, we're just the fly on the wall while you're on that never-ending quest for that little extra. That is wonderful, that is, why i follow this channel. Thank you for your awesome work.
It's worth coming here just to read the comments. I feel reassured that there are actually lots of nice people in the world who look at things on the internet and find something enjoyable, comment on it constructively and make friendly polite remarks to the video creators. Also thanks to Dan and Mick for sharing their huge knowledge around.
Please don't apologise for the longer videos or when you think you're rambling a bit. We love it. The more we get to see and hear you two nerd out and make glorious noise the better. Love you guys
Tone is the fuel for inspiration. We Tone Pilgrims will pass through many gates on our journey. May the inspiration I see on Mick and Dan's faces and, hear in their incredible playing, accompany us all on our journey. Great episode!
A fantastic episode guys! I must say, at the end, that was the most beautiful I have heard Dan play! Best of health to you, Sir, and bring on that jazz album!!!
A huge thank you to Dan, Mick, and the entire That Pedal Show Team! Since becoming a TPS fan, every day is filled with inspiration fueled by the awesome content and community you guys have built!!!🤘
Thanks guys. Possibly my favourite show. Absolutely no need to apologise. I loved getting involved. Maybe it wasn't as slick as you intended, or the sound as you envisaged, (not least the hum, rf or ground, which is annoying with the improved recording equipment), but nevertheless, I enjoyed every little bit. I loved the fact that you were repeating riffs when comparing settings, switches, routings and options on various pedals and combinations thereof. This really helps us. Sometimes when demonstrating the kind of pedals that I would be interested in, it's like you've already played them so much yourself, you seem to be getting bored. Here though, it was obvious this was the first time and indulgence was lovely to see and most welcome. We could hear what you were hearing. Especially loving the rationale of just playing, not letting distractions inhibit the wonderous and ethereal, (yes even when totally dry guitars are magical - just think of all those wonderfully different shades that you can achieve whilst playing acoustic guitars), process of making music. When those enhancement tools are in play, wow. Options are many, but they should ideally support what's already going on. Sure, a fully immersive delay almost controls you and trusting your gear is necessary sometimes and I still have my reservations about too many choices. Many PA guys I speak get a bit worried when a guitarist turns up with more kit than the drummer. When one arrives with guitar and amp, or guitar and box, they get excited that they'll be a lot less issues during set-up.
For me, anything to encourage the relationship between the band and the sound guys or other performers, is beneficial. No one want the hear a grown man cry because there's no room on stage for all this kit or if they need a certain threshold for everything to work 'properly' because the tone won't be right below 91db ..... but the in house the decibel meter turns red at 90, meaning everyone needs to turn down or the fuse cuts out! I love it when things are straightforward and you have to play, exposed without a crutch. It's a tiny bit like when I turn up to group cycling rides, on my cheap steel bike without all the latest paraphernalia. I'm not deliberately trying to look cool, nor do I act pretentious with a massive smug smile. Well, I do look and act like a cock most of the time, so I have no right...but I do enjoy beating the other modern, lightweight gear crazy, techno sensor laden, born again, full lycra clad cyclists, up hills. It's a similar story as arriving to gigs, one journey from car with guitar, amp and lead, all set to play in minutes, with one plug socket required, having time to help pack stuff away, grab drinks for the crew, running cables etc until we're ready to tune and sound check. Simples!!
Happy new year guys! I like long videos, because the weekly episode is my "Dad hour" in my cave. Don't mind at all if it's two hours! Hugs to you, Dan and best wishes to a complete and speedy recovery!
Gotta be honest, its been beautiful seeing this journey unfold for you Mick over the years. Its a living document of a tone/music/artist journey and proves its worth the fuss haha At least in my opinion, youve landed on some truly special tools to open up your voice as a player
Over the years I've learned so much from this show. Including an understanding of why I love the sounds I love, where to find them, and how to continually expand that into new sonic territories. Because tone.
I just watched the video where Jack brought his amps to the show where Dan's two tiered board .. I just wanted to say thank you for all that effort. I was introduced to The Golden, The G3 and many other things that expanded my knowledge a great deal. So again, thank you so much! I just play through a like new Mesa single rectifier, a couple nice pedals for sustain and verb, going through the effects loop. 6L6s and 12ax7s. Not even on a stage, but playing along with records like George Harrison's All Things Must Pass..the outtakes portion, which I enjoy playing along with. Either that or Pat Matheny 's "Group" record with Jaco on it.

Dan, great that everything is well now! Mick, I just love the way your playing lightened up more and more as the sound was there with the desitions on pedals. And the new quitar, it light up the playing for the both of you, best thing that can happen and it really excited me as well while sound was just something else. Please don't apologize for the longevity of the video, I think this was the most captivating one in a while. Positively saying, the enthusiasm that grew and grew was the main point in this video that made it really great. Representation of the pedal and sound hunting feeling that we all share❤
I fell into the “klon as my midrange boost” rut until this show…pulled my ts808 off the shelf and put it ahead of my tumnus and there it was! Thanks for making the TS cool again Mick! And Dan, so glad you’re well. To continued health, cheers!
No apologies needed, this is why we are here, awesome episode! Thank you! The 345 was a slice of heaven. Things that I took away from this, based on the limited YT audio. The Tube Driver sounded great on its own, but not on this board. The Juggler V3 sounds amazing. I agree with Dan that the Evermore is an always on pedal. My personal preference was the Page over the 808, it just sounded a little warmer to me with the Juggler. On the wet side I really liked the Megabyte, but I preferred the Delay Llama, there was just something about it I liked better. Also, I would really love to hear Dan’s old CE1 through this rig.
Revel in it. With all sincerity, the best I ever sounded or played was when I had no idea about any of this stuff. Just the abandon of not caring. Those days are gone and now we worry about stuff that doesn’t matter. But we can’t go back. Enjoy!
Thoroughly enjoyed this one lads! What sounds there at the end with the new Gibson mate, just gorgeous.. Congrats on the new guitar Mick and the simplifying is inspiring. Thanks again for the wonderful and informative content. Love you both
A couple of months ago, I stripped right back to amplifier and guitar. The back to basics thing works. It allows a reset, and a reevaluation. A simple board makes sense, especially for a gig, but even for home practice. Focus on the playing, not on buttons and knobs. Love it. Also, that 345 is a thing of beauty. Well done.
@That Pedal Show - Really enjoyed the gamut of sounds Mick’s board produced in this video. But, I was very pleased to hear Mick using Licks from Bill Wither’s Grandma’s Hands. One of my favorite tunes by him. No need to apologize to anyone, thanks for allowing all of us to follow along on this journey with you 🙏🏻❤️
Happy New Year!!! Glad I took the journey with you on this one. New Year, new board, new sounds! Get it!!! Love that 345 omg .. and the Jam delay is stunning!! Good health to you both.
No need to apologise, these are the ones we learn the most from, am in the middle of rebuilding a board so hearing you talk through the decision process and options as you consider them is invaluable. Strong start to 2024!
11:51 man Dan hit that Kossoff A chord the mid boost totally brings that warm Kossoff tone vibe very similar to a dimed Marshall and guitar vol(no bright cap) rolled down a bit
Brilliant. This felt like a classic TPS episode. Of the many possible comments, here are two. First, I was looking away when the Delay Llama came on and my head literally snapped back to the screen. What's that?! Second, which wasn't the point of the episode at all, was that when the 345 came out, both of you allowed yourselves to swim in it. It wasn't comparing micro-tweaks to a pedal's EQ or something. It was yielding to the inspiration of that (yes, new) guitar. You both allowed the inspiration to take the reins. So whatever the source, a new guitar, pedal, amp or combination, your playing was inspired and inspiring. Cheers, guys.
Great episode! Great minds think alike. I consolidated my pedalboard based on our current set list. And lo and behold 5 pedals is all I need. My gigs are all in mono so that helped with my decision making. Dan stay well and cheers for an awesome recovery.
1:00:27 Another episode of Dan’s Delay Odyssey! Love hearing Mr S improvise with delay sounds. Always seems to bring out something greater than the sum of all involved parts. His cranial software update was defo worth it!
Happy New Year guys, all the best for 2024! So good to have you back - another epsiode and another chunk of info for my sonic database! I've learned so much from you two, thanks for everything you continue to do.
Love this episode, really cool to see the thought process and simplifying. I’m a big fan of a good simple setup and while I sometimes let things get out of hand and go bigger, it’s never long before I downsize again. Fuzz, couple overdrives, delay and modulation can usually get it done.
Glad to hear that Dan is longer in possession of " the thing " . Let's look forward to the continuing of that trend. Happy New Year and good health to you both .
Very interesting. I remember a few years back Mick did a vlog (during isolating, I think) about "how much gear do I need?" This feels a bit like that mentality of "how do I do the most with the least stuff" :) Great show as usual!
Great one, you guys... very inspiring to watch, actually... No need to worry about running long, as everyone who follows the channel knows the dilemma of wanting to cut down to the essential few versatile, perfect sounding pedals knowing that it means killing some darlings... but the way that 808 complements the Juggler, ...man...!! Oh, and congrats on the ES345 - truly magnificent!!
I was 7 minutes into this video and already so pumped. I’ve been missing, a bit, the thoughts and musings of Mick and Dan as you nerd out on pedals, but more importantly, how you’re thinking about them working together in a rig. It was Friday. It was a long week, and this is exactly what I needed. Happy 2024. Looking forward to all the TPS it brings.
Happy new year pedal nerds! Loved your channel since the start! Thanx again for everything. T-shirt idea:To wah or not to wah, that is the question. Currently playing with my new effectrode mercury fuzz…, holy moly!
More episides like this! Loved it! Getting down and dirty selecting gear is what we all relate to and seeing and listening to the discussion was the perfect show
Just when you think this cant get any better, Mick absolutely rips it on the new guitar. Nice one guys you both seemed truly inspired by the tones you got, great episode.
I appreciate the direction you're going here. I just recently put my giant pedal board that resembles the console of the Starship enterprise on the back burner for now and have gone to a smaller board with a dual drive, boost, one wobble pedal, one delay and a whammy ricochet and find that I'm making more music rather than just sitting and twiddling with knobs
How good are you guys?!! Bloody brilliant!! All the love and appreciation your way. Thank you for making my day everyday. Big love from Mullumbimby in OZ 🎉
I love this kind of video. Live tone chasing is the Bee's knees "As it were" 🤘 I just want to say I had to take a break from watching any guitar videos for some time. The Rona vaccine almost killed me. I lost my ability to play guitar. I got really depressed and ended up selling 95% of my guitars and amps. I sold around 10 guitars and 4 amps. This is the second video I've watched in more than a year and I have to say you gents have really inspired me to try and pick up a guitar again. The side effects of the vaccine left my hands paralyzed for days and In pain for almost 2 years now. Inspiration from you two has given me the itch to work through what I lost. Keep it up gents, cheers.
After years of watching TPS I was wondering what kept me coming back to your videos. Gear ? Yeah, sure… Tone? Indeed, that too… The addiction? Ok, I confess … But It just hit my mind, listening to Mick’s demo of the Jam pedal : I love your music guys. Play more! We are listening!
Oh man. That 345 would be the death of anyone. I can now see why Dan was so overwhelmed on Mondays show. The board is epic, loved the video. Please don't apologiese for these sorts of videos, they're fab! To me, as a viewer who really started loving the show in COVID, these are CLASSIC TPS episodes that experience the minutiae of why you guys choose what. Much love!
No apologies needed, gentlemen. It's something about the endulgent episodes that gets the serotonin flowing. Perhaps I'm just living vicariously through you 2 a little bit...
Listened to this on tinpot earlier buds during the commute, then on closed-back noise cancelling headphones. Finally on the living room TV. The recorded sound quality is remarkable - well batted Mr Taylor. Very much looking forward to hearing the first band session of the year - it’s going to be very interesting to hear all the ‘new’ non-digital hardware in that scenario. You go from strength to strength, bravo.
I have went back to basics like never before recently. I have a Rivera Clubster Royale Recording Top-25w that I stocked with NOS RCA blackplates in the front and RCA in the back. WOW. Just running guitar straight into the head, bypassing my board completely. Magical. Built in Reverb tank and the drive channel also has a boost w crazy gain. Nothing else needed. Went from crazy digital and rack stuff to a killer tube amp and have never looked back.
One of the best videos. I'm happy to watch to the end, I actually prefer longer videos, more playing, more talking, more more. Everything in life is so speedy, I like sitting on the sofa for an hour of guitar tone at its best.
I really want to thank you guys for being a part of mylife. I feel like we are together in my living room and we spend time playing and trying stuffs and debate. ❤
I don't understand the juggler...seems like you need a lower gain overdrive (dirty little secret, bluesbreaker, or even another lower gain Kingsley) OD) with the tube driver and a fuzz out front. Thoughts?
i watch this as i have literally just returned from hospital as i also had a thing, which is now gone. best wishes to you, dan. and of course, mick, simon and frazer!
So great seeing TPS again...I owe a great deal of gratitude to you both. Mick and Dan.... I started watching a year before you moved the second time..Ive learned so much..and I thank you Ps: Dan so glad you are on the mend Love and prayers for you both moving forward 2024...🎉🙏🎸
No apologies for this ‘self indulgent’ quest. Love the ‘simplicity’ of the rig. Looking at the jam llama too but also very interested in the Mythos Oracle. Kingsley pedals - wow wow wow. Thanks guys !
Mick and I are on a very similar journey. Ditched the massive spaceship board and moved to a very small board with a couple of tones that I love. Removes option paralysis, and forces you to focus on what you’re playing rather than getting the “perfect” sound. Also forces you to sound like yourself. Very interesting episode my dudes.
Some GREAT lick-age in this episode! Here’s hopin’ you’re back out playing live again soon. ✌️Always look forward to Fridays here in Nashville when you appear here from across the pond.
Fantastic video with a lot of good points made, but for me the number one takeaway is that I need to go buy a Tube Driver. Wow that thing sounded fantastic, I actually liked it regardless of guitar and the status of the Juggler.
I think we can all agree the best thing about this vid is the fact our fearless leader Dan is good and well 💪

Dan’s Blues
==========
I had a thing
Like lumpy bread
Bulging out
The side of my head
Went to the doc
To get checked out
He took a look
And had no doubt:
“You’ll be just fine…
’Cause we caught it in time.”
But I had to know:
“Will I slip into a coma?”
“No, not a chance”
“Will I dream of Tacoma?”
“No, just Impy Dance”
“Will I smell weird aromas?”
“Naw, Dan-relax… It’s just a lipoma”
I had a thing
And now it’s gone
I can Gig with my Rig
And carry on
Hanging with Mick
In Schwangri-la
Strumming on Red
We sing, la-di-dah
My fetish with hats
Is a thing of the past
Shaving my head
Is a trick that’ll last
I had a thing
And now it’s gone
I can Gig with my Rig
And carry on

OH HO Good Gents! 3min in and so looking forward to the next hour that I clean this closet! Cheers to you both!
Great episode! Great minds think alike. I consolidated my pedalboard based on our current set list. And lo and behold 5 pedals is all I need. My gigs are all in mono so that helped with my decision making. Dan stay well and cheers for an awesome recovery.
Fellas fellas, we're here to watch and listen to you talk just as much as play! Your insights are always welcome- wishing good health for Dan!
Can't wait for the ES-345 episode. I was planning to go stereo guitar and now I wonder what your problems are and if I should rethink my plans.
1:00:27 Another episode of Dan’s Delay Odyssey! Love hearing Mr S improvise with delay sounds. Always seems to bring out something greater than the sum of all involved parts. His cranial software update was defo worth it!
Great show! I really comming into the same direction... Simplify! It is really a great "know yourself" exercise! Congratulations!
Happy New Year and good health to you both .
always a pleasure to hear you both play.................and play. Good health and great tone to everyone in 2024.
Very coooooooool, nerdy video. I love it when you guys get WAY down into the tone weeds. You definitely ended up in a very cool place!
Cheers Hugh! Hope you’re well dood!
Happy new year pedal nerds!
Loved your channel since the start! Thanx again for everything.
T-shirt idea:To wah or not to wah, that is the question.
Currently playing with my new effectrode mercury fuzz…, holy moly!
More episides like this! Loved it! Getting down and dirty selecting gear is what we all relate to and seeing and listening to the discussion was the perfect show
Another good one guys! And can I just say how lovely Dan's playing is here... 1:00:28 beautiful!
Just when you think this cant get any better, Mick absolutely rips it on the new guitar. Nice one guys you both seemed truly inspired by the tones you got, great episode.
One of the most memorable episodes!! Really loved it! Dan, all the best!!!
"Rosewood fretboard. The forbidden fruit of woods." Gregism. Cool scar Dan , now all the kids want one. Glad your aces. Cheers fellas.
Cheers chaps, always happy to have some nerdy tone-hounding. Dan's expensive chords at the end were flipping fabulous.
After years of watching TPS I was wondering what kept me coming back to your videos. Gear ? Yeah, sure… Tone? Indeed, that too… The addiction? Ok, I confess …
But It just hit my mind, listening to Mick’s demo of the Jam pedal : I love your music guys.
Thank you Matt!
Happy New Year to you both! Dan, whatever you had, I'm happy to hear that it's now gone.
Thank you!
I'd still watch these videos of they were 4 hours long. Keep on rocking bros!
What a great show! I have a sweet spot in my heart for 345s. The parallel inlays just looks beautiful. Great board! Great guitars! And get well Dan!
I can`t take anymore of an hour of showing what great guitarist you two are.
Haha! Good job you watched this one then. :0)
One of the best videos. I'm happy to watch to the end, I actually prefer longer videos, more playing, more talking, more more. Everything in life is so speedy, I like sitting on the sofa for an hour of guitar tone at its best.
345 wins! DAMN! Varitone actually lets you get some crazy cool tones 😎. Don’t get me wrong, that Strat is magic but, BLOODY HELL?
This is the exact detail that I enjoy… amazing tone guys! Thanks
It's amazing how both Mick's and Dan's playing character went to another place after picking up the 345. Awesome.
Yeah man. Guitars. Areghhhhh!!!!
Happy new year guys! Glad Dan is feeling well
Thanks Sam 🙏
I started watching a year before you moved the second time..Ive learned so much..and I thank you
Ps: Dan so glad you are on the mend
Love and prayers for you both moving forward 2024...🎉🙏🎸
No apologies for this ‘self indulgent’ quest. Love the ‘simplicity’ of the rig. Looking at the jam llama too but also very interested in the Mythos Oracle. Kingsley pedals - wow wow wow. Thanks guys !
Mick and I are on a very similar journey. Ditched the massive spaceship board and moved to a very small board with a couple of tones that I love. Removes option paralysis, and forces you to focus on what you’re playing rather than getting the “perfect” sound. Also forces you to sound like yourself. Very interesting episode my dudes.
The irony being that the ‘perfect’ sound is the one you don’t notice or stress about . I think. Good luck Ryan!
Some GREAT lick-age in this episode! Here’s hopin’ you’re back out playing live again soon. ✌️Always look forward to Fridays here in Nashville when you appear here from across the pond.
Happy New Year Mick & Dan.
Great so see you both on this beautiful cold Friday morning here in California.
Looking forward to this show.
What is it- 67?😏
@@brendanoshea1472 it was 34 degrees Fahrenheit. 😁
That is some of the juiciest playing I've ever heard from Mick. In awe of that 345!
Fantastic video with a lot of good points made, but for me the number one takeaway is that I need to go buy a Tube Driver. Wow that thing sounded fantastic, I actually liked it regardless of guitar and the status of the Juggler.
Great video guys, the pain of board downsizing is real!👍😂 Glad to see you are ok Dan! Loving the 345 Mick, looking forward to a future video on it!👍
