My right axle shaft was grooved as badly as yours. I lost the seal and fluid down to the bottom of the tubes, which is what the bearings will do unlubed. I thought it was my brake caliper at first and replaced, cleaned and test drove, found more oil leaking and then I finally smelled it and knew it was gear oil. Got a nice used OEM Ford shaft from Pick N' Pull as they're stronger steel than Doorman. Lots of cleaning, new bearings, seals and reassembly for an immediate 1,800 mile drive east this coming week.

Great. Just great. I got my replacement from Doorman too. This is the second time I'm replacing the RHS bearing. Mine was just as badly grooved. Once the gear oil starts leaking, they're gone. I'll have to see how you cleaned it. Maybe there were some metal bits left over from the first one.

Why did u tear the hole rear end apart

He did that to flush out all the metal particles from bearing and axle wear. That glitter, as he calls it, will destroy bearings.

My 2010 crown Vic axle shaft also was like that on the drive side also but the passenger side was alright, maybe because it’s a open dif and the driver side spins more due to drifting idk lol

Yes I ve had this happen on a 97 Blazer, replaced both seals and bearings, I accidentally dropped out the spider gears 😈
I had a hard time getting them all back in alignment

Some thing important I didn't hear mentioned in this video is the the carrier caps should not be interchanged from DS to PS nor the top to bottom orientation be changed.

Quick question so I can understand this. You have to take all that apart just to replace the rear bearing? Cause I have a 04 p71 and might need to replace all 4 of them.

you may want to put your spider gears in first
