I have one of these babies. Unfortunately apart from an intake not a great deal you can do to increase the performance. The ecu is still locked any skullduggery drops it straight into limp mode. I’ve got to say this is a fast stock car. My previous hot hatch was a focus rs stage 2 420bhp with all the mods. The golf would leave it for dead up to 100mph
I’m on the side of the VW so I don’t want you to be wrong, but 420hp focus rs vs stock golf r? I don’t really think it would compete.

My god that R looks epic, beast mode engaged, sounds absolutely awesome too, and I love the background track, VW should use it as their advert (minus the mods), the car looks much better with the mods done though and it is so shiny!! Absolutely mint work my friend.

VAG ftw. I just keep watching it. I'm up to the 6th viewing. All those lights and the sparkles reflecting off that deep deep paint - magic. But, I especially like the sense of pride that is felt for Sydney locals when we see the roads we drive down being set to a killer track and having Moog's killer R rolling. Brilliant.
I wasn't sure about the mark 8 R when it released but yours has changed my mind completely. Looks so good!
I went and had another drive and look around today and whilst the new car has many new improvements there were so many items that have been cheapened up and downgraded, clear cost cutting. Sadly, some of the Euro stuff is cutting quality and costs while the Japanese & Koreans are improving theirs and in doing so closing the gap.
Compared to my 7.5 R FE there were many disappointing cuts imo & I think VW has made a mistake by doing this. I would sooner see the price a few dollars dearer & the quality remain.
That said, there’s definitely performance improvements but given I can’t go 9/10th on the road I will happily keep my 7.5 & maybe throw a tune & BB kit at it ect, maybe.
This is the only real quality car content left on RUclips I love it so much!
