I make games for a living. I recently put in a setting that only leaves the greyscale and removes all colour, so that I can make sure that everything that needs to be visible to play is high contrast. I'm glad you mentioned that Value is really important to get right! (even if you can see colour)
This is easily the most helpful coloring advice I've ever found!!! It's so easy to understand and really inspires me to create. Your art is super cool as well!!!!!!
It's really impressive how much this video made me want to color my art, like, my god I'm overflowing with inspiration and excitement. Didn't think it was possible feeling this much emotion over an RUclips video, like really, I'm so glad I watched it. Thank you very much for reigniting this in me, I quite literally didn't think I would be excited to color something again (also sorry if there's any typos in this comment, English is not my first language and its very late at night right now)
it's always so comforting to see great and kind hearted people on this platform, i dont even draw but i just had to stop by and give this the support it deserves :) what a heartwarming idea for a video!!!
Videos like these really make me wanna learn art! The way you describe your process really helps me to understand art better. I find it interesting that even though something can be right in front of your face, you don't really know how to make it unless you break it down like how you did. But when I think about it, even though I don't understand art, I understand music a lot better, and music and art are really similar I'm realizing! Like for example, the way you describe color palettes for a piece of art is like picking a key to compose a song in. Then if you want to highlight a specific part of the song, you can pick a note from outside the key just like complementary colors! (Blue and orange are my fav lol) And music even has the Circle of Fifths which is basically the same thing as the color wheel! Shading is also like volume and dynamics in music that brings more variety without changing the actual notes themselves (it builds the basic foundation of the structure of the song). Emotions also play a huge role in both music and art I'm realizing too, like how certain colors and certain chords evoke specific emotions. Lol there's even a thing in Jazz where you call the fancy chords "color chords" to spice up a song! I'm honestly having so much fun interpreting art through the lens of music. Even though I knew about art and music being similar before, the way you structured this video and how you explained things just helped make something click in my head. All in all, great video! Very precise explanations and helpful tips that inspire me to learn art! :)
That's really cool, I'm actually the opposite!! I've been trying to wrap my head around some music concepts by comparing them to visual art concepts! I even arrived at the same comparison of keys/color palettes haha :D
@musicmarshal123 wait this is such a cool interpretation! Thanks for your thoughts :>... I'm on the other end of knowing art way better than music and it makes sense the way you compare them! Esp the shading being like dynamics in the piece, like how the music gets deeper/stronger in places and softer and lighter in others just like shading in art
Unlock the power of your imagination by creating a masterpiece of your art through the transformative magic of colors. That made me goosebumps... (hehe lol...) Actually your art is so pretty
I watched this video coming from a programming background and the whole process is eerily similar, first getting inspiration on what I actually want to build, then the tools or libraries (colors) to use, structuring the project, and lastly cleaning and finishing touches like the shading

1:55 a colour swatch? PERRY THE COLOUR SWATCH?!?!
yooo lowkey... by accident
I make games for a living. I recently put in a setting that only leaves the greyscale and removes all colour, so that I can make sure that everything that needs to be visible to play is high contrast. I'm glad you mentioned that Value is really important to get right! (even if you can see colour)
@alexnoman1498 OH wow! A game dev :O what r some games you've made? That's rlly cool and yea values do be important in game dev art too
This is easily the most helpful coloring advice I've ever found!!! It's so easy to understand and really inspires me to create. Your art is super cool as well!!!!!!
aa thanks sm! glad it was helpful krystall

I agree!
It's really impressive how much this video made me want to color my art, like, my god I'm overflowing with inspiration and excitement. Didn't think it was possible feeling this much emotion over an RUclips video, like really, I'm so glad I watched it. Thank you very much for reigniting this in me, I quite literally didn't think I would be excited to color something again (also sorry if there's any typos in this comment, English is not my first language and its very late at night right now)
@boredrandomartist9523 yayy I'm glad it motivated you! I hope you do end up getting bac into coloring cuz it's so cool and important to do😤😤 gll

what a heartwarming idea for a video!!!
aaa im honored :> tyvm for the support
Esp the shading being like dynamics in the piece, like how the music gets deeper/stronger in places and softer and lighter in others just like shading in art
dang i didn't know this, its rly cool concept, u shud def get into art and maybe u can use ur music to inspire u and ur pieces :))
Unlock the power of your imagination by creating a masterpiece of your art through the transformative magic of colors. That made me goosebumps... (hehe lol...) Actually your art is so pretty
aa thankuu
I watched this video coming from a programming background and the whole process is eerily similar, first getting inspiration on what I actually want to build, then the tools or libraries (colors) to use, structuring the project, and lastly cleaning and finishing touches like the shading
@@Trivarizz yeee sounds like the coding projects I've done 😭 honestly a lotta the processes r the same when it comes to any creative or building project imo
