I've been in physical therapy for 6 weeks. They have me do the wall lean but they made me put my "bad" side up against the wall. I'm in SO much pain when I leave. I'm going to try it this way.

I’ve commented on maybe 2 RUclips videos in my whole life, but I can’t pass this one up - holy cow, how does this work so well?!? I’ve had excruciating low back pain for two days which I thought was maybe a herniated disc, so I tried what I thought was every back stretch and yoga pose to get relief to no avail. Then I found this video and these SIMPLE exercises are like MAGIC! You clearly know your stuff - the little tweaks make a huge difference. I’ll be watching this video and doing the exercises more than once a day. Thank you!!!

Hi! I did the leaning to wall exercise, that so far has given me relief especially during a sciatica flare up. Usually my sciatica is worst when i wake up in the morning especially during a flare up. Do you have any videos for warm ups we can do in bed just upon waking up? I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

thank you for this video, Dr. Rowe. I have a herniated disc and these exercises are helping me. the oddity that i have though is that a lot of these stretches cause tingling through my leg, almost like it's asleep and waking up. any idea what this means? i also sometimes have sharp pains in my left toes even though the sciatica pain is concentrated in my right leg.

I think it’s important to note that it’s not going to feel pleasant while performing this. And you should only lean into your arm pit as much as you can until it gets to painful. You slowly go in farther each time. Don’t rush yourself. Even if it takes 20 sets of this stretch. Slow and steady.

If your herniated disc is located in your cervical spine (c1 - c7) the chin tuck is your best way to relief.
