He could be sick to death hearing how clever the russians are, he's happy thinking of how many lies he told the russians, ok... it's up to him... but the real thing is that he's bleeding from the wound. What the russians did was a damn masterpiece. Three of the Cambridge five went to Russia, but non of them faced 1 single day in jail. And yes, Philby went to Russia, and so Burgess and Maclean. It was not a problem for Philby going to Russia. Indeed there are many videos on youtube showing Philby travelling around Soviet Union with Rufina, and watching Bolshoi, with a comfortable life in a nice flat in the very city of Moscow. And he, himself said to Phillip Knightley: 'That story that I regret but I can't back to England is rubbish. I have a happy life, I have a beautiful wife, I have wonderful collleagues not only in Moscow but all around the Soviet Union. I want to be burried here, in the Soviet Union, this is the country I've chosen to be mine in the 30's'. I'm not lying. It's on RUclips, this is the link: ruclips.net/video/P-SnKzglU7g/видео.html
And when he died he was paid tribute as a hero. They have even made a stamp with his face on it, And finally and best of all, the three of them vanished right under British noses.... As I said it was a bloody masterpiece!

depends how you define "masterpiece"; he tricked people who were his actual friends, and is well known to have been a raging alcoholic. There's strong evidence being watched the remainder of his whole life by the Soviets. More recently leaked files arw evidence that shows he was never actually trusted and was routinely tailed. Whether or not he was actually miserable and homesick there, I don't know. He did have a wife and it would appear he was most frequently inebriated so perhaps he was immune. Could he have taken it sober, we might ask.

Philby never was allowed to enter Lubyanka or any Soviet Establishment. Bolshoi was visited by proletarians of ZIL factory too. Indeed Kim was under suspicion and was secluded from outer world and never trusted after what happened in Beirut.
Brits played a bad game on on Soviets and that was a Great Game:) Play up and play the game!
