Outstanding work!
I've been tying flies for a long time. One thing I've learned is there's always something to learn. It's an Art form.
Great video!🧐🌲👍
It's all in preparing the feather first. There is a terrible disappointment when it doesn't work so the prep is worth the work. Pure Joy when you master it. I love to learn these techniques and you are very good at demonstrating. Thanks again. No need to answer. All the best, Sean
and this is why you have to save those long hackle feathers! Greatest wing trick i have seen by now!!! :)
TheMinicSasa exactly my friend ;-) good you can use it ;-)
Your material handling skill is at least equal to that of another fly tier of blue shirt renown plus your commentary English is easier to understand. Thanks for the demo, it was a pleasure to watch.
+awalt26439 Thanks I am very honored ;-) Good that it is helpfull for you.
Awesome, talk about splitting hairs. You're the best I have seen. Good Job.
Hi Ted, Thanks for the kind words :-)
Just wow! I love to fish the Mayfly and your insight into trimming the hackles to allow the fly to lay flat on the surface is gold!
Thank you very much! Subscribed!
I am glad to hear. Tanks for your kind words.
Very nice. I have just recently started tying my own flies and I am still taken back by how much I have to learn. That is truly a work of art!
F1owns Thanks for the kind words. good luck with your own tying ;-)
Excellent tying. A work of art.
+Brady Family Thanks ;-)
no more no less simply perfect!! thanks so much for sharing your skill
Dear Tommy, thanks, and you are very welcome :-)
Just starting out on a flytying journey at the age of 70. To tie a fly of this quality is a target I would dearly like to reach and I'm looking forward to the many challenges on offer. Thanks for sharing your skills they will be a big help I'm sure.
Thanks, Nice to hear. it is never to late to start on some new things. Good luck with you tying.
A true artist up there with the likes of Markus Hoffman .The best thing about this fly apart from its amazing replication is the fact there are no plastic artifial wings or legs or nonsense like that, everything apart from the foam is organic and natural ,I found the way you split the wings Mallard feathers amazing and will study more in greater detail but well done indeed I thoroughly enjoyed that presentation
Hi Stuart. THanks for the kind words. but I dont understand what you mean with Marcus ??
wauw!! unreal!! creating wings this way! creating an accent with the coloured thread going forward in reverse! thank you very much! i learned a lot!!
You are welcome ;-) thanks for the kind words.
Beautiful May Fly. I tie them often, but never split the Mallard feather. I always use two small feathers one on either side of the fly.
Hi Richard. Nice to hear. that is the beuty about fly tying. no rules. there are so many possibilities to tye the fly on that way you need for your own fishing.
Most beautiful set of wings I have seen, natural and durable as a duck feather. I will try to master this technique. Thanks for sharing. All the best, Sean
Thanks Sean. Very kind of You. You will be amazed how easy it is. ;-)
Beautiful May Fly
marco antonio villegas villegran thanks Marco :-)
nice
Excellent tie sir. This fly is definitely a trout magnet!
Took 2 flies to get down the wing issues. I have made 6 now, and they are beautiful flies. The wing is more durable than I thought while making it. I thought it would just crumble. Nicely done and fantastic idea to make wings with duck feathers!
THanks and Good to know :-)
Wish I could take credit for the design. Truly unique.
Yes Mr. Wally really got a good idea ;-)
INCREDIBLE, thank you.

Very nice fly! Wings are beautiful! Thanks for the video!
Thanks a lot, kind of you :-)
Sweet ty!! Tight lines🐛🐜🕷️!!!!
That is really beautiful. The way you use the material is interesting he foam to assist floating and coloring the thread for ribbing to save time and minimize materials. I just started tying a year ago and want to thank you for the tips. I think I will give this a try. Thanks again. I also enjoyed your instruction.
Hi Al good it can help you. thanks for the kind words :-)
Beauty
Your flys are art!

Thanks, nice of you :-)
Excellent, I'm new to tying so doing a little research on tying different wings, these wings are class for pennies, (as being new to all this my main hate is sellers ripping you off with over priced stuff, like them printed plastic wings).
Thx for the great video Pb

This is such a beautiful fly, I'd almost be reluctant to fish it! Awesome workmanship!
thank you.
Nicely done sir. I've not fished nor tied a fly in about 12 years and am kind thinking to be getting my stuff out of storage and getting back into it again. I like the wings on this fly ...they look realistic....and as I've not seen them seen this technique before. Very informative, albeit your hands were a bit in the way as to see what was being separated it would have been great to see that part front an over top view apposed to the side, but I got the idea.
Again...great video! Thank you.
Don Howie You are welcome. Maybe you can see it better on this video ruclips.net/video/TQxko9WSWmM/видео.html I think you should find all you tying goods and just start again, you will deffinately enjoy it ;-)

Espectacular
Thanks Antonio kind of you.
perfect tankiou
awesome!
Fly looks nice, might be hard to tie in a small size.
Hi J.C. Yes you are right. It can be hard to tye. The smallest fly I have made with this wing is a size 17. with the same mallard type of feather. but you can use other types of feathers as well.
Beautiful wings. Can you give us more information on your vise? You say it is homemade.
Hi Joe If you want to know more about the vise please contact me through my email contact@smhaen.com
Perfect!!!
+Enrique Santiago THanks :-)
As beautiful as any tying I have ever seen. Do you make presentation flies for wall framing because if you do I would love to buy one for my fly tying room.
Thank you John for the kind words. No I do not make flies for the wall, i am sorry. but if you meet me in future some were. You made be lucky to get a fly ;-)

bonjour shmaen, très belle réalisation, pour plier l'aile de mallard, il doit être possible
de le faire avec la pince du magic tool de marc petitjean , mais bravo pour ce superbe montage
Hi Marber 22. Thanks for the kind words. but you can do it without his tools as well ;-)
SMHAEN in flyfishing oui ,c'est plus technique, mais au moins on a la satisfaction de l'avoir réalisée de ses mains. bonne continuation
