I'm continuing my quest to win $10,000 in prize money from fun runs in a year. In this video, I travel to Duluth, MN to race in a stacked half marathon field for a chance to win lots of cash (or potentially nothing). I had been targeting this race for months, travel with me as I leave it all out there in this race.

This series is a high-key banger
Huge compliment coming from you 🙌 thanks man!
You need to be verified soon
Dang hi!
Please show the spaghetti next time
I’m still kicking myself for not documenting it 🤦♂️
Genuinely worried this was a comment about the urinal shot at first.
In 30 years of running I have won a grand total of £25 ($32)
63:47 10th place worth? Wow, that was a fast race. Congrats.
Spoiler 😡
@@whatcamacallit1534 Haha. Why are you looking at comment section before watching the video?
@@justoutlaw6423 it was the first thing that showed up 😭
I am running my first ever half marathon in October! Very excited
Congratulations!! Good luck! Find your pace and take in the surroundings
@@hoverdivision9866 thank you! I normally only do 10Ks. So I’m very excited to test myself out.
Good luck! I think it’s a really fun race distance
I would use that bowl as an ashtray for sure - maybe that’s why I’m slow 😂
Good job!!
"a holiday in there" "mini soda" ... dad jokes spotted. it is official. the kid is his.
btw... this series is so fun to watch. i'm rooting for you.
I absolutely love this series keep it up!!
Love your videos! I am getting back into running after a long hiatus, and your video on training for a 5k is the best of many I've watched. You have an amazing sense of humor! I'm impressed that you can run a sub 2:20 marathon while working full time, commuting 1.5 hours per day, having a family, and doing whatever else life throws at you. I'm sure there is a solution out there for your calf issues. You could make it as a coach/merch seller/RUclipsr in the vein of Nick Bester. Many marathoners have their best years in their 30s. Go for 2028 Olympic qualification. Looking forward to your next video. As a former D1 XC/track walk on, I loved that video too.
so cool to watch your adventure! You have a great attitude. Your daughter is adorable ! Congratulations ! great race!
Why is no one talking about how freaking cute you daughter is? She is adorable.
Love this series! Can’t wait for the next race!
Really cool series. You're super fun to watch (and crazy fast!)
Runner here. Love this series. Gives good perspective on what it actually takes to make a living as a pro runner, how difficult it is, and just how fast some of you people are. Always looking forward to the next one.
Congrats, can't wait till your next race.
Another banger. Complete with a guest appearance at the end! Well done and keep up the great work!
Let’s go! I love this series! Great effort from you, good video and funny too!
Also congrats on PR!
Can't wait to see the next installment, excellent presentation Mike
Congrats on the PB! This series is so fun to watch.
nice job!! and the ending was awesome 😊
Really enjoying this series! Keep it up.
Gary bjorkland was actually a local runner from proctor who set the mn mile record multiple times with a final time around 4:02 and represented the us in the 1976 Olympics also he’s a drunk driver 😅
nice job, 63 minutes is crazy! your daughter is very cute :)
This series is so fun 😅
Awesome series!
Yessir! Was there for the weekend and ran my first marathon. Cheers!
Cute little Eliza stealing the show! Congrats Michael on a PB!
Yeah she did 😅, thanks Ashley!
Maybe that prize bowl is your new salad bowl!
I love this series
Just subscribed. Love this series
i love this series so much
this series is great!
Aye he used my thumbnail idea again! Awesome man
Haha I like the idea, and it worked last time 🙃
Great series, enjoying at lot!
Congrats. on pr !!!
Love these
Awesome video series 👌
Atta boy! You got wheels bro!!
Loving this series! Would love to see a breakdown of travel costs, ect once you hit your goal!
Ooh, That might be a great video Idea at the end. I'll try and track it as I go!
I’m a sucker for dad jokes and I’m stealing that Minnesota one
that prize money prolly didn’t even cover the trip cost 😭😭😭
Yeah definitely not 😅 but the event does a great job providing accommodations for their elite athletes 👍
🔥🔥🔥
I am really hoping he shows a comparison of what he won vs what he spent (race fees, travel, etc.). I would be interested to see what the net result would be.
Man, Luis Orta! :o
Yooo the urinal b-roll is wild
That trophy looks like an old school ash tray. Lol.
at the beginning finish line part you had to do the jason tatum we did it 😭
Plus 1 for the carbonation gold
Honestly a nice bowl you actually use sounds a lot better to me than another bland runners trophy collecting dust on a shelf 😅
I feel like someone told the kids about carb loading
Cmon if you were born in MN you need to learn your running history. Garry Bjorkland was an olympian from MN and a 2:10 marathoner. ;)
Now I know!
Where did your mare come? How much did he earn??
I assume you meant mate? as in Jake? He ran well, 1:03:11, 6th place, and he got $700 I believe for that
Ottesen from minnesota? You are definitly of Norwegian decent 😅😊
4:25 pictures or didn’t happen😅
What’s the point of a shake out?
Sub 5 min pace for a half marathon is bonkers
Is 9th place the same Louis Orta from training with the kenyans series? 😅😅
Yup, thats him
@@mottesen_runs you two should do some collab though 😁😁
Whole wheat spaghetti right?
I once won a pie...
What if the winnings don't cover travel expenses, should that still make it onto the thermometer!?
I talk about it in the first video, but I'm not counting any expenses or stipends from races for the sake of this challenge - just winnings. But I'll do a breakdown analysis at the end of the series and take a look at that
Only money I ever won was 5 dollars on the floor 😭
Its so sad that you can still so little money from money, especially when I think how much time you put in, your talent and dedication... 10k a year, thats a joke!
And I wonder why, the running community wordlwide is soooo big :(
Yeah I do wish there were bigger purses, that being said even for me prize money is not my only source of income through running. But you do have to be really really good to make a living on just running
I mean for a side thing 10k a year isn’t bad
Running is just a bit of fun
I’m so sorry you weren’t able to start at the front for your local half marathon. I bet that really made things tough for you. And to think, you could have spent .4 seconds less in the rain if you had gotten that front spot at the start.
Apologize to dragon ball z
Yes plz! dragon ball z hasn't slept in days
From the result list it show that you are 10th…. Anyway cash money is a good thing to tally up your goal for $10,000😊…. So 11th place get no money ? 😂😂😂
