Fantastic recording, filming and editing.
Fabulous, energised, deeply personal and emotional performance of a work - that can often sound, to a non-participant, like it is rehearsing well-worn tropes, which, when new, were probably shiveringly fresh and thrilling; but in opulent performances by violin 'superstars' these supposedly depictive pieces have become showcases for, lets face it, fast scales and arpeggios.
This performance is hot and rough and urgent and dangerous and quicksilver, trembling with raw energy, shimmering with vulnerable calm; bombast bravely withheld; gush & smooth display, banished.
Surely Vivaldi would have loved it.
As he spent much of his professional life composing for and with talented young women, I'm sure he would have been totally at home with this interpretation. Congratulations.
