What’s poppin boys!!!
Sup Alf
Sup.
Wussup
Sup Alf, that dropout protector was the htp dropout protector if I'm correct and always thought the s&m warpig was their heaviest frame lol
Let Phu know that bike overall is a mixture of mid to late 90s, with a touch of some earlier stuff.
I still have a complete S&M Bennett downstairs in my basement still from 2002-2004ish with some earlier parts on it.
I didn't realize how in demand all my old bmx stuff is, haha.
The ghetto bikecheck:
- S&M Bennet frame
- Press in headset (snafu)
- Redneck stem
- S&M bars
- Odyssey Hazard chrome rims (4 bearings in each! Lol)
- 14mm Profile cassette rear (original)
- Primo grips
- Profile Cranks oversized bottom bracket (original Profiles)
- Primo meat tenderizers pedals (fucking still have scars to this day from those)
- Terrible One 44t sprocket
- Odyssey pitbull brakes
- gyro
- S&M pitchforks 14mm
- DiaComp Tech 77 brake lever
I had a white bennett, good frame
0:26 OMG that's the frame Ian Morris rode back in 1994 when he did all those big hand rails when he was on S&M bikes back in the day
Okay, so the Heavy as Fu** was S&Ms response to Standard Industries (Now Standard Byke Co) Shorty and Lengthy. The first few years of Standard frames were extremely heavy, but they were also indescribable. S&M (in wonderful Chris Moeller style) decided to simply call their frame, with a similar standing platform as the Shorty and Lengthy, what they were......Heavy as Fu**.
There was sort of a rivalry between Standard Industries and S&M back then, both making US Made products. It was all in good fun!
I had that same color seat in like 2007 -2009 I loved it lol
Awesome! I had one of those seats. I had and S&M bennett (cracked part of the frame) and a next generation holmes which was a tank. Thanks for showing these old school and mid school bikes it brings back memories. Also that bike shop looks sick
"I don't know much"....... *proceeds to explain the entire bike and all of it's parts in detail 😂👊🏾👌🏾
Hahaha that’s exactly what I was thinking when he said it lol
Alf my guy I’m digging phu Knowledge I used to have that seat I didn’t remember it being called that because I got it secondhand lol
Glad you guys are digging it!
Primo hemeroid seat I have a old new primo hemeroid seat white plastic leather cover I got it for 4 bucks new still with original box
Phu is og
@@juliangaribay4711 that’s awesome bro
Got brakes on the CS and you can also mount a set on the SS double the stopping power.. I had the same seat only in red 🤘
Damn all those parts bring back so many memories!!!!
Man that was a funny ass clip fu the 🐐 that throw back bike brought back t he child hood for sure
That bash guard is cool!
If it wasn’t so heavy I’d rock it
Watching your vids helped inspire me to complete my 26” build, maybe I’ll see you guys cruising in Downtown sometime
Dude let’s do it !!!
I remember primo also had an all plastic version of that seat called the steroid. Ha, I loved the old primo seats, they just looked awesome! Though for a while I had the blue sparkle and white Mirra seat and that was so much more comfortable!
Dude, hood memory!
Had that primo seat and used to take it apart and put different color material to make the seat look different
That was the golden era of bmx!
Dope video, dope bike. I used to have the hemorrhoid seat and whipperman chain at one point. Crazy how much bikes have changed
Phu “I really don’t know much about bikes, guys”
Seconds later he’s talking about the amount of beveling on 1st generation and 2nd generation bottom bracket mounted bash guards, which most people didn’t even know ever existed.
Hahaha I was gonna check him on that too 😹
That is a very nice shirt phu has on there.
Thats a dope late old school early mid school build but man I am glad freestyle bikes are lighter and cleaner looking these days.
Nah. The old school bikes are killer. Definitely different geo than today but different times man.
@@anthony7184 I have a mid 90s GT Vertigo custom painted candy blurple with a chrome show fork with peg bosses and chrome triple walls from when I was younger. The thing is sweet to cruise on but these days even my early 2000s wethepeople is hard to hit the park with. The short stays, taller bars, shorter cranks and overall weight is just more comfortable to ride street with my old joints lol
Now that’s what I’m talking about s&m for life 🤙
Gannnggg
@@AlfredoMancuso yeahhhhh 😎
Wedgie Jackson was the best part of the gooseneck!
Hahahaha fs
Yo phu is the best bro, I always get hype when I see a new video with him!
He’s been my good friend for over 15 years and I still get just as hyped to see him haha
Primo jewels were basically socket heads that were axle nuts back in the day. The Marvin guts were a little bit different they look like 2 half dollars on the side of your seat post holding your seat. I thought they looked super dope. I would say that bike is early 90s maybe 91 but the parts are more like 1996ish and the seat like 2000 99
I still have one of those GT bashguards out in the shed. It's a bit rusty now.
Those are amazing!
I ride a Subrosa OM green frame that I bought from you! So keep rocking the Subrosa shirt!
i knew i wanted that subros jersey, but now seeing phu rock it i HAVE to have it. i need that phu street cred
Hahaha it’s real dope!!!
Alright I’m back to watching Alfredo and we get to see phu let’s goo
My dude!!
I have those GT 3 piece cranks if I remember correctly they were called the speed series 3 piece and theyre about 21-22 years old
You’re super right!
😂😂😂 love this! Love seeing bikes I couldn’t afford back in the days lol
Freek's bike!! Bmx Museum legend.
I always like the dominator seat.
Makes me wanna cry 😭 seeing those scratches 😭😭😭😭
Hahahaha right?
@@AlfredoMancuso if i scratched my atf I would puke 🤮 and feel sick
It’s a bike u gotta ride that bih
I love the old bikes
They’re so cool to look at
@@AlfredoMancuso you got the look at part right, lol. I tried to ride an old bike recently and it was soooooo short and uncomfortable I couldn't believe it.
Flats and cheap tyres are a nightmare with them Rims man!!
Oh mannn you’re so right 😅
I used to ride a standard sta 500 with a whimper man Chain
I had a GT Vertigo that looked almost identical to that. I think it was 89-90 or so.. Came with a bash guard, and weighed in at right around there. The paint was red with a splatter black, so pretty cool for the time period.. But yea, HEAVY AS PHO. This series is dope!
Also, those look like Dia Tech Hombre's with a Fiesta hop up kit? Those are MUCH more recently made. And are we just ignoring the vintage T1 sticker!? rip.
S & M heavy as F!!!, 94-95, I started in BMX in 2000 when I was 14 and I used to ride a 38 pounds S&M HOLMES NG, and now only excuses with the bike weight!!
Hahaha I totally hear you on that one!
@@AlfredoMancuso thanks man!!!
That’s a flashback. Even the seat is heavy. Just added weight everywhere. Dropouts are thick to stop them from bending.
Big facts
These parts bring back good memories...I still have some chrome bfr wheels floating around somewhere...and dk made a seat like the primo but with better material so it didn’t rip I know I have that in my garage
I soooo remember!
the chrome BFR's were a lot less common.
@@Fausto_4841 I have a set, front with a Susie sealed hub and back with a dk hub
@@younggotti8195 nice, i was running the demolition hazard lite cassette hula hoop rear and a araya super x7 with some sealed hub in the front. i was the only guy in town riding a 36h front.
@@Fausto_4841 hahaha yeah back in the day I didn’t know anyone on 36, it was 48 or bust
Ive been practicing past few months on a 20” 99-00 specialized fatboy 415 pro....talk about a heavy ass bike! 😭💪🏼🚴🏼♂️💯
But when you ride a lighter bike your bike control will be insane!
Alfredo Mancuso my control isn’t insane yet lol but it def improved a lot no doubt after hopping back on the 98 dyno vfr lol
I'm sorry bro you know nothing but I'm glad I saw the bike that was a street bike not a transition bike
what the PHU love to hang that bike on my room so iconic.
It’s so heavy tho 🥴
@@AlfredoMancuso or put it on a bike stand....
40 pound bikes were a thing back in the day , I had all Haro,s & every one were 40 pounds or a bit less . The weight was a big factor , the faster your rode the higher you would get & the more control you had over the bike . They were stabile & had more momentum than lighter bike , I rode from 1987 to 1992 so that right there tells you about the era I rode in , I had to quit riding because I had reconstructive surgery on both of my feet because of a birth defect a they had to fuse my ankles together so I lost a lot of flexibility in my ankles & couldn’t do a lot of the stuff I could before the surgeries & could no longer take the impact on my ankles , but yea heavy bikes were a thing .
The drop outs were big on top so it wouldnt bend up on big lands to flat probably. They probably thought it would bend which could probably happen back then.
That makes sense!
I used to ride a S&M Holmes. It was heavy!
They got up there for sure!
the classics weren't bad at like 6 and change, but the next gen ones were a full 2 pounds heavier, over 8.5lbs
Wassup, quick question do you know if they have the cult vans blue camo tires, I have been looking at the older videos and trying to look at the background of the tech thursdays videos and looking at the tires but I can't make out the tires in the back.
714-848-0888 give Phu a call :)
@@AlfredoMancuso thank you 8)
Hey man or anyone that may know how to answer this, i recently just bought bmx it was from a buddy, he doesn’t even know the brand or model was wondering if there’s a way to find out ?
You could send me a photo of your bike on Instagram @alfredomancuso and I can help try and figure it out
@@AlfredoMancuso awesome will do I will contacting you on Instagram from @baliezy
I’m currently putting together a 98 Gt dyno but the purists are going to hate me it’s gonna be a blend of new school and mid school parts (new school chrome bars, chrome 48spline chrome cranks ) 😂🤙🏻 sick bike
The way that sits easily 1000 plus dollar bike all day 😍😍
Facts
@@AlfredoMancuso yep
I got a 2004-2006 Mike Ardelean frame with an S&M seat and S&M bars
I haven’t heard the name Mike Ardelean in years! That’s dope!
Man i busted my knee open on some DK Anti-throttle bar ends the first day I installed them!
I over shot a turn on a burm at some local trails and that heavy ass sharp chunk of aluminum just split my knee wide open!
Omfg I wish primo jewels still existed. Socket drive axle nuts in the rear that Aldo work for pegless grinds. Yes please.
Solid supporter since fucking 5years ago🤣🔥
You’re the man Keith!! Thanks so much 💜💜💜
I have that subrosa jersey...i love it
It would have been kool seeing pics of my bike during this for comparison. A few of the parts on my bike are the same as this bike. Like the seat, cranks, brake lever and brakes.
Speaking of the hemorroid seat, who else was super stoked back when the Pentagon seat came out?
Marvin guts, Viking clamp and Pentagon seat was the setup man..
Old guy here, just wanna say that’s mid school, not old school. 😂
Hahaha I know but we need the term for the RUclips algorithm
This bike is from 1994. I would consider it old school. You're one of those guys that only 80s bikes are old school? 🙄
@@bL3dbL4k actually no, I’m going by the build of the bike, components etc.
Picked up an LTF recently and thought that was a score dang
Hahaha still a good pick up
Back in the late 90’s, I don’t even think Dans Comp listed the weight of parts. Weight was such an afterthought.
You’re so right!
We need phu fridays
Dope vid bro !
I rode that bike in the 90s and I rode the dirt bikes and homes before that that bike is worth its weight in gold
phus the type of bike shop owner to wear whatever shirt you GIVE his azz hahahahahha
😂😂😂🖨🖨🖨🖨
Oh my lord I want that s&m 😍😍😍😍
It’s cool right?
@@AlfredoMancuso hell yes love it 😍
@@AlfredoMancuso is that a Holmes ?
I used to run the Chris King headsets. Those were bomb
They were a dream, growing up
@@AlfredoMancuso also I had my 44t profile racing sprocket
Had to just go weigh my s&m warpig- 36lbs. Still have my stogies-throw them on with gyro and front brakes and it was pushing 40lbs.
Someday I'll bring my '82 Schwinn bmx bike. It has to be around 38lbs. I kid you not. No Z rims on it though. I wanted mags.
My 2003 condor started its life as a factory 34 lbs bike , I’ve added Alex triple wall rims, shcwinn xs4X4 hubs , odyssey gtxr gyro , closer to 40 lbs the way I ride it , I’m going to go on a road trip and come to epic with a couple of my bikes 03 condor , 01 dbi patriot, 02 dbi short bus
My mate rode a heavy as fcuk as a vert bike man that thing was a tank i rode a s+m dirt bike at the time and deffo noticed the differance lol .
The kore thrash guard was a bit weaker than the gt bashguard i broke loadsa them in the 90s id ware out the skidplates doing slides on ledges and walls .
Those lock on levers where propper thumb mashers doing barspins i used to remove them i still got one on my daily rider i bought in 1988 lol .
anyone know the name of the pegs? i think i have a pair. Love the video!
Primo Stiffies
@@AlfredoMancuso aw dang mine are diffrent. thanks though!
Hey do you guys have any knowledge about perv vert parts?
Nice bike
Pretty rad right?
@@AlfredoMancuso yes sir it is.
I'm currently riding the S&M LAF from 2008 or 09' I love it but I might upgrade but it seems to be pretty comparable to a lot of frames these days. Although it doesn't really accommodate "fat" tires.
yeah, i bought a tire and had to take off my brakes to get it to fit.
I was hoping to see FU bust a few tricks on it hahah
I had a s,m heavy was an awesome bike I sold it in 1997 , back then I never noticed the weight , we were used to heavy bikes , I had the chance to buy it back last year , couldn't work out a price I thought was fair , I may end buying it back at some point , I built a new s,m Dagger last year
Wit tha phu Thursday’s ahah
doesn't Fu have a 20" GT Performer hanging up in the store? I'd love to know what that weighs, and how it rides too
He does! We can review it soon!
@@AlfredoMancuso awesome :) . I have the chrome 2018 repop. Be nice to see how the old one fares :D
At my parents house I have about four sets of Alex Triple Wall 48 spoke rims in the basement all bent to crap from under rotating 360s
Sell them to Phu!
That Primo seat weighs 7 pounds and was released in about 2001, the GT bashguard was dumb and expensive, I know because I still have the one I bought and used for a couple weeks.. I do love these Epic, Phu vids tho...
This is crazy hahaha
Wish I was local have a 42 pound schwinn hydramatic and a s&m warpig. With triple wall rims
The seat.lol
Was that fermans bike buts be flyen
Where are you guys located?

@@AlfredoMancuso sweet, maybe one day I'll go check you guys out! I'm in Cali too
This makes me miss my old free agent
HAT UNDERNEATH THE HELMET BRO.
😹
That's how we did it. It wasnt cool without a hat underneath Whether for street or Bmx Racing... Pro-Tec with a hat underneath.
Colin Winkelmann was the pro if I remember right that made that popular. RIP Colin I would have love to see what would have become of Circus.
I had a few GT and Profile 3 pieces and I liked the Redline Pro Flights better, I stripped a pair of Profiles and GT' never stripped Pro Flights
I’d be interested is hearing about a dream bike project. Like what would you buy or build with an unlimited budget.
i've got a next gen dirtbike, but my tweeker buddy stole my terrible 1 handlebars. i wish i was local so i could bring it by.
I have a buddy that has a gt with a similar frame
Im late, this is great. 👍👍
Still here! Thanks man!
Lol it went in there (the seat ?)
I've still got a 98? DMC pro mongoose all original bone/beige in colour heaviest bike/ tank I've ever had I used to hop 3 it new bikes are so much better lol
Yea no need for emergency brakes on a bike. Lol. Don't park it and a slope where it won't sit. Haha
GT made great mid school bikes
They truly did! Changed the game forever!
@@AlfredoMancuso thank you for making these videos. I from there mid school and also rode currently into the New school
It’s cool for kids and young bloods to see the old stuff and why things were made that way
@@JNAMOTORSPORTS it’s my favorite segment to be honest! Love the history
All those frame styles were/are inspired by old school Torkers, no? Anybody remember Eddie King??
It’s not old school but my 06 DiamondBack (Venom?) is almost 34 lbs lol and my 05 Mongoose Wildcard is probably even heavier
I got a 2000 GT bump that’s very heavy. Lol
Weigh it!
@@AlfredoMancuso I took it apart already bc it had some good parts that I’m planing on keeping or selling. It had the GT stiletto forks and Gt 4130 cranks too.. I have pictures.
I am tempted to bring a bike but I feel like phu would run me out for putting suspension forks on a 24in cruiser.
Nah he thinks frankensteins are dope haha
Come on Phu 40 pounds😂🤦
Hahahaha right?
Actually, the shirt does make him look taller.
