Purple is rougher because the red dye molecule in the color is larger than the blue molecule. Because it's larger, it's harsher. Same thing with hair dye. Red color molecule is the largest color molecule, so it takes more effort to get the hair to take up the dye.
Jennifer, you you can measure across your crown piece and multiply by 3.14 and that will gove you the finished size around. Those a beautiful hats, the colors are so bright and cheerful.

I just finished making this hat. I used Bernat Pop in Northern lights. I did some color control and added a black pompom. I will try to show you somehow. I really enjoyed making it!🥰
I love the star stitch but I don’t think I’ll be able to do it again without seeing the stick man. That’s a great way to explain that stitch. Love the hat. And I loved the yellow and orange colorway of that yarn.
