2 facts you left out were, the chair Kurt used during the set was just an office chair. He liked it and just took it from backstage instead of the stool he was supposed to use And the biggest fact about this Unplugged concert was, Nirvana was the only band to ever just play through their set. If there were mistakes or something didn’t sound right, that’s just the way it was. All other bands would play songs multiple until they were perfect. That’s what makes Nirvana Unplugged the best album of all times
@@krisfrederick5001 really?! Get this guy a trophy!!! Pure brilliance!!! No shit, I said that because they originally wanted Kurt on a stool and he wasn’t comfortable. He asked for a chair and they wouldn’t get him one so right before the set, he went in the control room and took that one
None of this is a secret and a lot of it was false. The band was suppose to do an encore, At the end MTV was trying to get them to go back on but Kurt felt he couldn’t top Where did you sleep last night. Also about a girl along with love buzz was the bands first hits and they played about a girl all the time and was a crowd favorite. Kurt didn’t design the stage mtv did, they did ask him what type of flowers and they gave him a few chairs to pick from and Kurt picked the office chair. They didn’t play teen spirit cause it’s a drum heavy song and Kurt wanted the drums soft which determined the songs. Your make more of simple facts
SLTS would not have worked anyway for whatever reasons’ I think Kurt had abit more input as to the stage design than some people realize’ he only would have thought that he couldn’t top WDYSLN because by that stage in his career his was start to focus on wanting change in the direction of the band as far as their style of music went’ by this stage he was pretty friendly with Micheal Stype from rem amd was wanting to do something like what they were doing’ also micheal had tried to reach out to Kurt to say that maybe they could work on some music together’ which would have been so rad if they did’ anyway that’s just my 2 cents worth ✌️
About a girl wasnt a hit until after the MTV unplugged recording. Love Buzz didn't get a lot of Radio play either. From interviews with the band Cobain did in fact have the concept of the stage design in mind to a great deal. As you yourself said. Cobain refused to do an encore. In interviews both Dave and Krist said they never really rehearsed one so Kurt probably didn't plan on doing one at all. Them not playing Smells like teen spirit because of the drums was only part of the reason they didnt play it. It was heavy in guitar and didn't fit the overall tone they wanted. The issues with the drums were addressed pretty well by having Grohl play with brushes. Those tone down even the heaviest of beats. By the interview with the remaining members it wasn't enough to simply do acoustic versions of their songs without changing anything. You can tell by the song choice this was fact. They played songs they never played prior or after. It wasnt about playing their hits at all and again About a Girl and Love Buzz didn't recieve a lot of airplay untill after the albums release.
@kevismac crazy how ALL the interviews say how Kurt wanted the flowers and candles. How MTV hated the stuff Nirvana had planned. How Kurt decided not to do an encore and interviews with the band members said Kurt probably planned on ending with Where did you sleep last night because an encore was never discussed. Your whole " I know the real story man" is just bullshit.
"The brothers meat", as Kurt introduced them..this is the best part of the show IME. BTW I promise you if you pair this album with mushrooms.. listening to that album on mushrooms was probably one of the most life-affirming moments ever.
Forget about anything anyone says. There is someone sitting in his room drinking rum and coke and deciding to look for a title "story behind Nirvanas's MTV unplugged. I know there was a story behind this iconic album. I am not a big fan of Nirvana, but this album is so iconic and all about Nirvana for me. This iconic sound and vocal. This is one of the best albums I've heard.
Im pretty sure nobody expected an unplugged teen spirit or expected it even. I didnt and i never heard anyone complain about that. I was surprised his sweater only sold for 300k when ledbetters guitar was 500k. Seems crazy to me. Who is more famous out of the two?
He endured his life's meaning. Maybe felt it was time. Consider his prominate role in setting the stage. The first song. The last song. There could be no encore after a deep, elsusively, outspoken saying, "I'm happy. My time has come." Think about how at the end. He thanked the audience. Happiness covers it all. And makes it all.
What are you on about? You kill yourself because you're happy and, therefore, your time has come? What about his 2½ years daughter that he adored? Also, he didn't design the set and the famous quote "like a funeral" is not even Kurt's.
Kurt Cobain's music continues to touch many, and his vulnerability on stage was a big part of that. Your comment beautifully encapsulates the depth and emotion in his performances
Another fan fact. 6:54 you can see on the left Big John Duncan, ex guitarist of The Exploited and Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie as a guitar technician for Kurt. 😁
Great video! Can you please do a video on "Marigold" and "Drain you" by Nirvana? theyre a bit lesser known but they have some of the most interesting lyrics ive heard from nirvana, and I love their music!
so you comment on the video to correct it... that's why he did it right in the beginning of the video. you let the video keep playing while you comment, this increases the viewer retention time on the video, even if you would have immediately clicked away from it. the increased average retention time along with a bunch of comments correcting the mispronunciation is a cheap way to make the youtube algorithm think that this video is more engaging and interesting and thus make it show up on more people's suggested videos.
You didn't mention one of the biggest facts. That Kurt was actually dope sick before the performance and almost didn't perform. One of the people in the crew had to go out and get him a bunch of benzos just to get him through. RIP Kurdt
I remember going through my Grandpa’s old wardrobe and he had the exact same green cardigan. And omg it was the itchiest thing you could ever possibly wear.
I’ll be honest unfortunately I don’t recall knowing or seeing any branding on that cardigan that felt like it was created out of poison ivy and insulation
