- Inside MusiCast's Rick Such and Eddy Cabello went inside the Music Mill in Indianapolis for Toto's sound check on July 16, 2007. Our apologies for the occasional sound problems. The SPL from Simon's drums was too much for the on-camera mic. Enjoy!

I fucking miss this lineup... it may never come back again
@vladix123 even if he sings false he still sounds good
I think Simon is the best drummer I've ever seen
I guess you never saw Rush live
i’d like to introduce you to Matt Garstka
@@DrLangly ...who?
I went to the see them a couple of months later in Argentina. Amazing show!
Lee still looks the same now lol.
This was the most memorable concert of my lifetime, and I've attended a lot. Seeing Bobby Kimball back on stage with Toto again was a dream come true. The band was smokin', the audience was fanatical, and the setlist was choice. I never dreamed they'd play Goodbye Eleanor, as well as several other older favortites.
I was at this show too dude! Stood stage left looking right up Sklar's nose!! The show smoked!
My favourite Toto lineup.. Steve, Simon, Greg, Lee!!!
Jerson Anthony you clearly don’t like Toto lol. It’s like a Toto cover band here.
To each his own!! That said, I was referring to this touring line up and Toto’s never really had a steady touring lineup in a very very long time, so yeah I stand by my comment!
@@fc3970 Toto has been my favorite band (definitely a bigger fan than you) since I saw their Falling In Between concert on TV, and I love all eras of your band, especially this lineup, so there goes your dumb theory.
I would love to see this lineup live one more Time but with paich addition
LOL The wacky "miss-timed' claps by Lee Sklar at 16:33 , dude cracks me up all the time, so funny :D
Those are granddaddy claps...
🤣
Loved this tour!
I was AT this concert and it was world-class Toto! Unbelievable set list, and a perfect lineup of band members. And a tiny venue-- I was shocked they would play for only about 300 people. I'll never forget this night.
How great would it be to make noise in a big hall with huge amps...... and these guys are all amazing musicians. Why didn’t I study music harder when I was a kid? Sigh. 😂
The background vocals at 3:19 are off Caught In The Balance. Sounds like they were accidently played and Luke wasn't too happy about it.
@TheProf82 He said "How many fucking times have I told you, that cannot be heard!"
wow nice catch
Frikin Simon Phillips on drums !! If anyone could replace Porcaro, it's him....
agreed 100%
Andres Etchenique He’s one of the best anywhere.
TOTOのつむぎ出す音は、素晴らしい!🍒
Not bad for a band all the critics hated. . . .
SWEET!
3:17 is concrete proof that most of the vocals were playback at this time, bit of an oof but it still sounded good.
and then luke goes: "How many fucking times have I told you, that cannot be heard!" 🤣🤣😂
@@janekolszak6761 Oh yeahh he does lmaooo
Ha its no different to sat afternoons at the local pub....set up, sound chk..a few beers. Was doing it 50 yrs ago as a 17 yr old...peace.
agreed....too bad something happened between Bobby and TOTO. I saw this interview with Luke on the disbanding and he says that some group members had attitudes, I wondered if it was Bobby......
At 4:20 or so Simon kicks off Caught in the Balance … love this ❤! That would be a great starter song with that intro
Wow that bass drum, bass and snare sound is amazing at 4:20!
サウンドチェック最高に面白い!🍒❤
First time seeing Steve Lukather in shorts
Amazing, and simon phillips drumset looks and sounds so great, and the gong bass drum...
One of my favorites. By the way, Tony Spinner the second guitarist is friggin awesome and killer pipes as well.
Now he kicks bobbys ass.. look up what bobby does live now, and compare it with Joe!! Joe is all back!
noob question: are the marshall stacks part of the P.A.?
No
Steve,great Guitar player!
Leland Sklar is so flippin awesome. Lukather is - well, the best.
Agreed
Not only did he record and tour with Judas Priest, he also recorded and toured with the Michael Schenker Group. You really can't regulate Simon's massive musical vocabulary by infusing words like "metal" and "NOT," etc... it's just silly. He could probably do the most astonishing blast-beats for hours on end of he felt like doing the gig...
ルークもサイモンも良い音出しているなあ❤
Im here because of Lee Sklars YT channel
リーランド・スカラーさん声が綺麗!🍒
WTF, Steve Lukather is only using 2x12 cabs?!?
He has a completely different rig now, currently he is using Bogner Amps. Way bigger sound
so what do the symbols on Simon's bass drum heads mean?
Those symbols are designs from the Falling in Between album booklet
who's the other guitar? where's paich and steve? awesome lineup nut doesn't seem 'official.'
ok, Spinner...
+William Moser Paich and Steve only participated in the studio for 'Falling in Between.' Steve wasn't officially back in the band at this stage and Paich had decided not to tour. Other guitarist / vocalist is Tony Spinner.
Lee Sklar on the.... CAMERA ? Hahahahaha..... not bad for one of the baddest Bass players out there.....
Leland Sklar FUGN ROCKS !!!
ジェフの亡き後、中野サンプラザホールでサイモンの音を聴いて、この人だって思った!気に入ってしまった!🍒
神は何で人間を創ったかって思っちゃう!✴️
Steve has not so much picks on his mikestand! LAUGH!
OK, disregard , I saw him.
because he plays whit judas priest in sin after sin?
What song is at 13:37?
"Bottom Of Your Soul", from the Toto album "Falling In Between".
Thank you!
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Where is Spinner?
+Tony Cook Far left.
Bobby Kimball, rock! all the time! in sound check too!!!! Bobby, comeback please!
Ha ...Birds of Fire,Mahavishnu Orchestra at the end of Bottom of Your Soul !!
2007 was a bad year for Toto with Mikey getting ill and Bobby starting to sound like shit. It got to Luke the year after and quit Toto because the band he was once in was literally dead and gone. It just wasn't Toto without Paich or at least one Porcaro. At least they got back together in 2010 with more original members. It was for the right reasons. To raise money for Mikey and because the cats missed each other. They are better than ever now.
Gotta be said I'd be quite annoyed at Steve for keep playing while I'm trying to quickly tune my kit!
Wish they would have played Gipsy Train more when Simon was still in the Band
I believe they did play Gypsy Train with Simon on this night. It was towards the beginning of the set. It's hard to remember. I wish I had a setlist from this show.
Bobby was urneal back in the day. Unfortunately with a lot of singers with his range, in later years theiir voice naturally drops. It is rare, like Sammy Hagar who is almost 68 years old can still friggin wail.
Toto. Genesis will balls.
Haha! Toto and Genesis are my two favorite bands!
and a real guitar player...luke !!
Toto ain’t no joke.
Greg Phillingaines on the keys ? Faak Moi !! - what a lineup ! Phillips, Sklar, Greg P., Lukather... faaaaak me sideways....
Andres Etchenique Check out the "Falling In Between Live" CD with this line-up of greats.
Richard Bender Best ToTo live i've seen to date! :)
bests Toto EVAH..incl. Tony Spinner.!! what a line-up.!
Listening to this...one can understand Bobby no longer there...yikes.
Simon Phillips was NEVER a metal player. A rock player with some fusion chops, yes, but NOT metal. Most of what Simon does is a lot of Billy Cobham beats and fills, which also NOT a Metal player. Think of a slower version of Billy Cobham but playing with a more straight ROCK feel. Sure, I kind of agree that he's not the same feel as Jeff, but he can certain cut the gig.

ルークのguitar🎸の音は、秩序が有る!✴️
song at 10:00 ?
Black Dog. It's a Led Zepp song.
Black Dog
5:00 can anyone tell me what is that song called?
Caught in the Balance
@@anavarro50 thanks

Look, I'm not a metal fan at all. I was trying to politely remind anyone reading this that these opinions of yours are just that: your thoughts and opinions. And just because you possess these opinions and thoughts; doesn't make them so. The next guy could "feel" that Cobham was too "rigid" and Simon ... I'm already trying to teach my child these psychological norms; I don't have the time to teach anyone else. C'mon brother, music is too beautiful to try to trap it with harsh opinions. Peace...
I hate the occupational hazard of drugs. Bobby was great. Too much money, free time. Too many "friends."
Lee Sklar still going strong after 50-years bcs, among other things, no dope.
Yes, some get away with it. Singers, not so much...
What song at 6:37???
I want it!!!
caught in the balance :)
Alessio Sfasci Tks Man!!! Really!
Joe Williams could sing in his day, but he can't touch Bobby!
Joe Williams of the Fahrenheit tour is in the same level of Bobby.Have you ever see the show they did in Vienna in 1987?Amazing,the show is on youtube actually. Two world class singers actually.
Leeland is using Nokia N90!
Psychological norms? There is no such thing. Judas Priest beautiful music? Really?
Here's some books you might want to read. It will help you, but your child.
First read Power vs Force from Dr. David Hawkins. Then move to the next one in the series.
In his books, he talks about music. Power vs Force is VERY interesting, and the others just going into it more in depth, but they are actually quick reads. I highly recommend them.
Hahaha...:)))/..Lee.Sklar.messin.on.camera
Dude.. you dont know what youre talking about ;D hahaha
So what, his best work was more with Stanley Clarke and Jeff Beck before he wasted his time with Judas Priest and Michael Schenker Group, to me those are not going to turn on his early fans.
Simon is more of a rock version of Cobham, but at slower tempos. I've seen both in the 70's. Cobham during peak physical condition, which is usually in one's late 20's, 30's, Cobham was untouchable. Simon would copy Billy's beats/fills almost note for note, which is great, but he still was too rigid.
No, I don't listen to that sort of metal rock. I've seen Cobham perform with Mahavishnu in 1973, NO ONE could touch him then and since. Mind blowing to say the least. Simon, as good as he is, COMPLETELY copied Cobham's licks and grooves on a bunch of albums. Heck, his setup is even copied from one of Billy's Tama's set ups, since Cobham developed both the Gong Drum, Octabans, left hand lead playing, and inverted China type on the left hand side of the kit.
Simon has never been much of a straight ahead jazz player, which is CRITICAL in playing music.
Rock has gone from having jazz and blues feel to what is being done now, which removes that Feel from the music, which is why I hate a lot of rock (metal) music of today. They forgot to have FEEL. When I listen to Cobham play, he has FEEL, Simon's is more rigid. Sorry, but Cobham has FAR more musical background than Phillips in music that matters. Rigid rock/metal fucks up one's playing.
