I met Takuma at work today. I work at a Japanese ramen restaurant. We served him and his whole team. What a genuine guy. So happy to see this video tonight bc Takuma is a genuinely nice guy. He shook our hands and thanked the staff for the great service. It was surreal.
I have heard/read that all of the other drivers were genuinely happy for Takuma Sato for this win because he was so well-liked and respected. This win was a great moment in Indy 500 history.
Because he graduated from Suzuka Circuit Racing School owned by Honda. Honda is supporting him. I'm Japanese and very proud of him. I wanted him to win F-1, but winning Indy 500 is more than enough!
@@yusuke386 Winning the Indy 500 is much more impressive than winning F1 since pretty much every driver has a chance at winning, unlike F1 where only drivers with the best cars can win.
Same here, i love this guy and most people hate him cuz he has monster balls and always pushes even when he should let of amd is blamed for wrecks cuz of this, i say its part of racing hard flat out.
He definitely earned it! I'll never forget this day. I screamed my head off when he won because I wanted either him or Alonso to win. Just shows you should never lose hope and give up!
Even having watched this a billion times, I still get chills every time I see it. Not gonna lie, I wish Fernando were up there, but you can’t have it all, can you? Regardless, this race is beautiful and you all know why.
Just amazing that in 2012 he crashed on the last lap almost about to make the pass for lead and possible win and he wins in 2017 and 2020. No ATTACK No CHANCE
I was there with my dad and best friend for this one. The feeling as he crossed the line was spectacular! People that didn't know each other were hugging and high-fiving. Such a beautiful moment.
That is what happen to me the DVR in this case Windows Media Center stopped recording with 10 to go... I didn't see what happen to Alsono who also ran a excellent race.
Good for him, and he is a former Formula 1 driver, which was what all the headlines were about - how odd it should not be one of the top F1 World Champions, Like Alonzo, but a man who was at the back of the pack in F 1 for so long he moved to the USA. AND while Indy used to be a battle between Chevy and Ford, the Big 3, it is now Honda, Toyota, Infinity and the others. I see one major reason for this being the way BIG US companies sneared at, and even took steps to stop innovations, while other countries rushed ahead. I can show you a rejection letter from GM, that was my submission of a super car that exhausted pure water, Running on liquid Hydrogen and oxygen it was super supercharged and so needed no turbos on the exhaust. The idea the man with the German accent liked was using the 'long shaft turbos' to drive a electrical generator, giving the team {merc bez} that got it first an advantage of 100 to 150 extra horespower! Now other teams have caught on - and it seems they are allowed to use it only if they never say where they stole it from! sorry about the long post but I really rally need a job for a racing team! AND the water engine tech could not only make cheaper electric drive cars but may solve our carbon emission problem that will lead to cataclyzmic sea level rise, so - save the world, that kind of thing.
Castroneves' car was faster, but Sato made a champion maneuver with 3 laps remaining. If the race had 2 more laps, Castroneves should have passed. Congrats Sato.
"I couldn't do what he was doing." Castroneves Give it 2 more laps and Castroneves would have had 3 Honda's breathing down his neck. Setting a 221.5 on the last lap just showed the inherent pace advantage Sato had in clean air, at best Castoneves could muster a 219.6 when leading.
This was so much better than 2018 even though I was disappointed my driver didn't win the 500 Castroneves the 2018 cars suck bring back the slingshotting and drafting not single file Nascar parade
James Doyle That was ABC. They treated Indy Car like a red-headed stepchild from the time of the split with CART onward. Thankfully, the 500 broadcast is now in far more capable hands (NBC).

3:32 this radio reminds me of Ayrton Senna's radio when he won the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix
Reminds me of Pierre Gasly's radio when he got the podium during the 2019 Brazilian GP.

Sato loves Indy! His only podium in F1 also came here, while other Japanese podiums from Kobayashi and Aguri Suzuki both came in Japan.

Yes, he is the very first Asian and/or Japanese to win the 500.
