I bought this. Going to give my honest opinion. It is a beautiful effect. It works well, and has rich and warm delay trails. My only real gripe with it is that it is not true bypass. I see some claiming that it's true bypass, but it clearly does a little tone sucking around the high end when not engaged. For such a low price, it is not a deal breaker, but I feel that people need to know the truth all the same.
Yes it does.I use it with mine. I play guitar and bass and I have had mine for about 4 years and its been used with my precision bass. The delay and Vibrato work perfect.
Yes it works fine with a bass. I have had mine for a few years and I use it with my bass sometimes. Never had any problems. I have a bass vi strung really light and I have one on my pedal board for that for live work.
Hey, sounds great. I was just wondering, I'm looking at getting myself an analogue delay for ~$100. I'm looking at the EHX Memory Boy and Toy, and this, and I was wondering whether you had any experience with either of the EHX pedals. I'm going for that classic U2/The Edge sound, which of course EHX can get, but I'm debating whether the added features of the Behringer make it a better pick, and whether it can get that sound. What are your thoughts? Great demo again by the way.
Hi there, very good and useful review and thank you for doing this. Just a question, some people said this pedal sucking the guitar tone, is it true? Thank you.
As per the demo, let the level knob at 4, the mix knob at 6, the chorus/vibrato knob at 0, delay knob at 10, feedback knob at 5, output thru a digitech screaming blues n a boss blues driver bd2, ( calibrate the digitech n boos to yr own taste ) modulate the sound with the whawha pedal ( preferably a dunlop one ) b4 running to the amp n u wl get the smooth n warm tone of good blues ( e.g eric clapton, gary moore, bb king ) Cheers. excellent playing demo from KelmOne who has also modded the appearance of their unit to make it look really retro. We rarely add video reponses but this is very good, check it.
@natrockskate As far as reverb and delay pedals go, the pedal effects whatever the input signal might be, be it guitar, bass, keyboard, or electric kazoo.
@Gyrofist1 I suggest you check out the new EHX Deluxe Memory Boy. It's 150$, but for that price, it's amazing! Really good sound, and tap/tempo. And a lot of other features.
@Shaharazad221 I opened it up and I think the pedal itself is set up for true bypass functionality. However, I think it may just be a case of not high-end hardware that sucks the high end a touch. A bit like how really inexpensive instrument cable can dampen your tone a bit.
One Question: How appropriate is this Stomp Box for playing ' The Police ' ? Cause effect wise it has the signature elements of Andy's style. Please answer. Thanks in advance.
Love your reviews. I bought a Echo Machine because I saw your review. Never regret it. Do you have any Behringer Phasers? I trying to find a good soud review of one of the many that Behringer supplys, but nothing yet. Thanks.
I had a Memory Man: It is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST DELAY, but haven't a tap tempo...Actually there is a Deluxe MM With tap tempo...But it is too much expensive :-( For the moment i have a Deluxe Memory Boy. It haves a tap tempo, but don't sounds like the DMM :-( I think I will to try with the Behringer VM1. It's easy to transform it into a true bypass (with one 3PDT). It's cheap, and i can sell it if not to my liking (with the improved of the True Bypass will be easy). THANKS for the info, bro!
Great Review man!!! I have a Question... The chorus is independent from delay? If I put in 0 the delay knob, the chorus works? Please help me.....i wanna one of this!!!
@Gyrofist1 - not sure of the edge's rig except he uses a roland sde isnt it?- one thingto bare in mind: the importance of the delay being in-sync with the tempo of the song to get U2 rythmic delay.. so praps one of the behringer delays which allows you to set the tempo by holding down the pedal for 2 seconds and then doing tap-tempo with your foot. check the delay reviews maybe - the echo machine is my fav. awesome delay pedal for cheap. if it dies buy another they are so cheap
But i still asking: In bypass mode (the effect in "off") the pedal stills sucking tone? In other words: Is it true bypass? In this case, is enough to make it a bypass circuit (with one 3PDT is easy and totally efective!)
I don't think that the vibrato is a strong as the EH MM, but that said I don't use it at that setting ever. I think that this delay is a huge value. But the first act delay is also a huge value.
@Gyrofist1 I suggest you check out the new EHX Deluxe Memory Boy. It's analog, but digitally controlled. Good sound, tap/tempo makes it easy to use live. I'm gonna leave out all the advertisement here. Just check it out.
I have two questions, these are the only things stopping me from buying one of these. How does it compare to the original EHX Memory man And (does / how badly does) it suck tone?
It is a real analogue pedal but its not brilliant but then it is a good deal. They don't cost much.I use a Boss ME75 but I also have loads of stompboxes including one of these. I used to have one of the old Copycats with the tape that loops round and it is similar in sound to that. I have worse analogue delay pedals.
+Mark McKinney Yes, saw that. I bought the VM1, a really useful purchase and paid about £40 all in. I've fed tape recordings through it as well (mostly spoken) and you get some interesting changes.
t55a2 I'm interested in getting one for for synths also (they are down to 30 quid now). I'm just wondering if you can put it to 100% wet with vibrato to get that Boards Of Canada style tape warble. Or is that asking too much of it? Cheers
Nice playing. Play that on a good acoustic guitar without any effects and it'll sound ten times better. I had the original Memory Man which is now in a museum.
how silly is it to hate behringer? it's nifty, it's cheap stuff and no one forces you to buy it. i love cheap casios, cheap old gameboys, and cheap little behringers.
they arent practical and only have a wall of sound kind of delay instead of a standard 3 control setting delay that is efficent and easy to change, using a memory boy/man is like relearning delay
Thanks for the hand signals, otherwise I would have been lost !

Congrats, that's the only time I've ever heard anyone use chorus on a guitar and make it sound good! Very understated nice effects!
WOW such perfect review. You should get paid by Behringer for this.
Yes it does.I use it with mine. I play guitar and bass and I have had mine for about 4 years and its been used with my precision bass. The delay and Vibrato work perfect.
Well done mate - very effective demo !
Very musical and tasteful,- Thank You for uploading.
Yes it works fine with a bass. I have had mine for a few years and I use it with my bass sometimes. Never had any problems. I have a bass vi strung really light and I have one on my pedal board for that for live work.
is it noisy? If you have it in your chain and engage the button do you hear any additional hiss or snap, crackle pop from your amplifier? Cheers

Can i use it as vibrato or will it allways have the reverby effect to it?
@natrockskate As far as reverb and delay pedals go, the pedal effects whatever the input signal might be, be it guitar, bass, keyboard, or electric kazoo.

veeery good review,mate,
the only thing I`m missing is you showing some shorter delays and feedback settings like slap back...
I had a Memory Man: It is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST DELAY, but haven't a tap tempo...Actually there is a Deluxe MM With tap tempo...But it is too much expensive :-(

is it a good copy of the memory boy/man?
I love that there is a blind test of this vs the Memory Man and everybody voted for this lol
was there? lol brilliant! where is that?
Search Gearsluts forum, I don't have the link.
H4NDCRAFTED
i aint got time to search that argument-riddled forum
lol good :) you must have music to make!

can you do a review on a behringer vt999 the vintage tube monster!!!
I don't think that the vibrato is a strong as the EH MM, but that said I don't use it at that setting ever.
I think that this delay is a huge value. But the first act delay is also a huge value.
does this make a noisy click through the amp, when you turn in on? Like some other behringer pedals? (the €20 versions)
of course it does, a delay pedal repeats every signal put in in, no matter the frequency.
Sorry for bad english
@Gyrofist1 I suggest you check out the new EHX Deluxe Memory Boy. It's analog, but digitally controlled. Good sound, tap/tempo makes it easy to use live. I'm gonna leave out all the advertisement here. Just check it out.
it works with every electric input
I have two questions, these are the only things stopping me from buying one of these.
How does it compare to the original EHX Memory man
And (does / how badly does) it suck tone?
In an effects loop of a PA or using a crappy microphone, put the typical microphone cord won't plug into it. It only accepts 1/4" jacks.
would you consider this pedal to be better than Danelectro Reel Echo?
What's the minimum delay time setting you can get with this thing? Can you go below 30 ms?
can u run a mic through it for vocals?
hi i need to buy one will it be possible to give me a preferred link to get this please
1234!!!
But in all seriousness thanks for such comprehensive reviews :p
change the signal even in bypass mode??
pedals work with everything so yeah IT WORKS WITH BASS. i hate having to tell people that.
I want this
no... this is made of actual metal... it's pretty well made
It is a real analogue pedal but its not brilliant but then it is a good deal. They don't cost much.I use a Boss ME75 but I also have loads of stompboxes including one of these. sure, write and tell behringer to send us one. :)
i kind of like it.
dose this have reverse delay
With the new EHX XO stuff being surface mount, there's no reason not to buy one of these over a DMM now.
This pedal is made plastic too?
@natrockskate At less, the Deluxe Memory Man can work very good with bass.
@DarockNrollkid4 yes
yes...
what chords r u playing dude
Would this be good on analogue synths?
+t55a2 yes.
+dancetech Cheers- seen them going for £37 plus p+p
+t55a2 There is a video somewhere of someone using one with a monotribe if that helps
+Mark McKinney Yes, saw that. I bought the VM1, a really useful purchase and paid about £40 all in.

fretkillrlives Something tells me you prefer acoustic guitars.
Too bad he didn't turn down the feedback so we could hear what the chorus and vibrato actually sound like.
is this true bypass?
how silly is it to hate behringer? it's nifty, it's cheap stuff and no one forces you to buy it.
i love cheap casios, cheap old gameboys, and cheap little behringers.
haha that means your mother too.
coughcough*MEMORYMAN*coughcough
hhehehe
no
bet she's a behringer.
@seagreenyweeny sure there is: don't support shitty companies that steal designs and make ghetto knockoffs.
yee
they arent practical and only have a wall of sound kind of delay instead of a standard 3 control setting delay that is efficent and easy to change, using a memory boy/man is like relearning delay
the pedals behringer are so economic ... but not having a great sound ..... this pedal is a imitation of the poly chorus of electroarmonix
this pedal has a great sound actually.
I'm sorry but this demo sucks!
Man, this completely rips off the design of the ehx deluxe memory man. too bad it sounds nothing like it and nowhere near as good.
Behringer are the worse effects pedals on the market very tinny
