Back then you had live bands and knew how to sing people actually put the work in from instruments to singing. Todays music is crap I listen to my old school jams any day. ❤❤❤.
WOW!! I still have the vinyl record for this album! 80s music was the best and Freak-a-Zoid was the jam! It would be a disappointing evening if a dj didn't play it LOL! It will never grow old!!
i just have a question for you since you sound like you know something about music production or whatever they call it . what is "autotune" ? i think i know what overdub is that is where they add prerecorded audio over the video and sync them together , am i right ? i don't know hardly anything about music as far as the way it is reorded and edited or whatever . i like this song because of the synthesizer/electric keyboards in it , the syntheisizer is my favorite musical instrument , with the electric guitar being a close second
@@warrenbuchanan2718 autotune is a software that corrects the pitch of a note, but if you use it on a voice and turn the correction up, it makes it sound like the voice has been synthesized. It's been a staple of popular music for a decade, you hear it a lot in modern hip hop, pop and electronic music. Some people can't stand it when they hear it, and others just point it out as a token insult when they're too lazy to actually look for good music today :p.
How could this be their most underrated it song when it was a very big hit for them? Their album No Parking On The Dance Floor album hit No. 2 on the Billboard magazine Top Black Albums chart and No. 27 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tape and it went double platinum in the U.S. Its first single, "Freak-A-Zoid", went to No. 2 on the U.S. Black Singles chart.Other singles from the album included "Wet My Whistle", and the title track. The album's three singles all charted on Billboard's Hot 100, Black Singles and dance charts.
I just got abducted by aliens in the middle of this video. They got side tracked dancing and I managed to escape. Midnight Star knew how to lay down the funk!! And that vocoder was always on point.
Sheeeeeee-itttttttt! This is the most awesome thing I've seen in a long time! This song was, is, and always will be THE JAM!! Midnight Star were the meeting point between the great large funk bands like Parliament and Kool & The Gang - and the electronic groups like Kraftwerk. Throw in some amazing show costumes for the days before mile high monitors and you have this awesome video!
Kraftwerk couldn't hold Midnight Stars jock! Kraftwerk are no talent ass clowns compared to the great funk bands: Midnight Star, Parliament and Kool and the Gang rule Kraftwerk on musicianship ALONE!!!!
This band knew and had the tools ,the beats , the form and it's audience!! And they created masterpieces that vertebrates an invisible energy that demands to move ,shake and dance!!! Bad ,bad ,bad to it's core!!! Remember not everyone in society felt comfortable listening to this jam out in the open . Only those considered from the hood and or outlaws ,misfits the Rowdy bunch... Now music is enjoyed by everyone. But back in the days this was and is the energy of the "Hood"... That's how I remembered it ...but everyone loved their energy....midnight star- thank you for the feeling and energy of being ALIVE with your masterpieces!!!
@@owenjackman426 Ridiculous. Kraftwerk were brilliant and innovative. This song right here is directly influenced by Kraftwerk as were many tunes of the early hip hop era (Afrika Bambaata etc). Kraftwerk were doing so-called electronic music in the SIXTIES! Far ahead of their time and extremely influential.
I have always loved this song. It still holds up after all these years! I played it at party recently and people went wild. I have never seen this live, extended version, thanks for posting!
Does Kraftwerk have anything close in regards to audience interaction??? Obviously Kraftwerk and musicianship are an oxymoron but everything I have seen Midnight star is it's own class!
I turned 8 in 1980. Listened to everything that came out during the decade. Out of all the albums across all the genres I listened to during that time, "No Parking on the Dance Floor" is definitely a strong candidate for best.
This is just incredible. Look at the audience, why can’t people have fun like this anymore… I guess I can answer my own question, it’s a few things, music is overly sexualised these days and an audience today would be trying to record the best angle on the iPhone to share on social media rather than just fully taking in and appreciating an incredible performance like this…
Iam a fanatic of the 90s I wish they could make this songs with the fresh new rythim I keep praying for this song so it can come with new rythim for 2024 electronic music 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Ever noticed that there weren't hardly any fat people back in the 70's or 80's? They were too busy dancing to gain any weight. Having a freakin' good time at that. Where or where did the good stuff go? Can't we PLEASE get these kind of jams back?
Midnight Star had so many hits. What a great band!
Still DOPE in 2024🎉
Back then you had live bands and knew how to sing people actually put the work in from instruments to singing. Todays music is crap I listen to my old school jams any day.
❤❤❤.
This is a rocking throwback Jam I just was dancing in my chair the whole time. Thank you Midnight Star🎉
Thanks for posting in the house 2023
Analog synthesizers were very temperamental in the 80's. That they could make it sound this good live is amazing.
Wouldn't know. I wasn't born in the 80s.
😊😊😊😊😊 love midnight star and those 80'is sounds
WOW!! I still have the vinyl record for this album! 80s music was the best and Freak-a-Zoid was the jam! It would be a disappointing evening if a dj didn't play it LOL! It will never grow old!!
12 shows, 6 states, 2 countries over the course of 30 years I was blessed to see them perform 😀
In 2021 this song and group is still hitting
No overdubs, no autotune. They did it LIVE and KILLED it!!!! Today's music regardless of genre just SUCKS!!! Back then, bands had soul!!!!
They had talent. The entire band went into the studio and played the song once and left and sounded better live than recorded.
Wait!
No autotune ???
